User ImageIt had been awhile since Dauna had met that young male, he was the first lion she had come into contact with outside her family. Maybe she didn't know where to look, but her hunt for more colorful lions to talk to hadn't gone very successfully as of late.

She let out a sigh as she made her way to the prides water source, the mist from the nearby waterfall already cooling her off. As she approached it, she looked around.. nobody to be seen. She half hoped to see that male here again, Dauna still found it hard to believe that Giant of a lion actually enjoyed relaxing in the water. She stuck her paw into the pond- only enough to get her toe-pads wet, before quickly withdrawing it.

"No thanks.." She let out low growl as she leaned down to take a drink. It seemed like this was going to be another predictably boring day.

Kali, meanwhile, had been swimming underwater. The pool where the waterfall emptied wasn't terribly deep, but it had some volume to it that managed to hide her form from the green female above, innocently taking a drink. Now, it wasn't usually tempting for the lioness to play a trick on someone else--especially someone she had never met--but after talking with the cub before about getting into mischief...

Well, she couldn't help herself.

The brown lioness padded towards the unknowing green one, stopping when she was only a foot or so away. Once there, she sucked in a little water and then popped her head above the surface, spit the water at the lioness' head, and then ducked back underwater to swim away quickly.

Maybe she didn't like getting wet, but Dauna lapped up quite a bit of water, it was so refreshing on a day like this.

After having her fill, she started into the water intensely at her reflection. The bright green female had all but zoned out to everything around her, until she a flash of green and brown appeared right in front of her and sprayed with a stream of water and was gone just as quickly.

"ATTACK, ATTACK!!!" She cried, her voice somewhat muffled by the water hitting her face. She fell all the way back, her limbs flailing in the air, her reaction more than overly dramatic. Quickly getting back up on all fours she jumped up and looked over at the water... what -was- that? A giant fish, perhaps?

Kali was trying hard to giggle underwater while not drowning; in fact, it was such a difficult task that she gave up and broke the surface again to laugh at the strange lioness' antics. Really, she normally wouldn't do such a thing--and would be furious beyond all reasoning if it had happened to her--but it had been too good to pass up.

"Sorry!" she called out, floating a distance away from the shore she had just been closer to. She didn't want to run the risk of the lioness swiping at her in revenge, after all. "Are you alright? It was just meant to be a bit of fun, that's all."

"FISH!" she jumped up in the air, the fur on her back raising as the mysterious creature popped up once again, but this time there was no mistakening what it was: Another Lion.

"Oh thank goodness." She let out a sigh. She was so relieved there wasn't a giant lion eating fish in her water source to be too angry at her. Plus, this was just what Dauna was looking for.

"I'm fine, I was more scared than anything. But please, Just don't spray me again!" She laughed and ran up to this strange colored female investigating her pelt quite carefully.

"Wow I love those green markings..." Dauna complimented the other female on her fur, but her voice somewhat said otherwise. Her markings where impressive, yes, but she had never seen another lion with so much brown on her fur.

Kali laughed again, dragging herself out of the water with ease. She had been quick to defend herself, but it seemed unnecessary. This lioness was easygoing; at least, she hoped so.

"Of course not. That joke can only be pulled so many times on the same lioness," she said with a wink. The brown lioness sat and started to dry herself off, licking the water from her paws. She blinked at the compliment and graced the other female with a small smile.

"Thank you. And your coat is very...bright," she tried, failing at finding a more complimentary word to describe the vivid greens.

"Hehe... of, course." Dauna let out a nervous laugh. The way the green and brown lioness spoke, maybe she had been lucky to just get a little water spashed in her face.

Seeing the female start to clean the water off her, Dauna lifted her front paw over her purple tuff of hair, trying to dry her own fur. She twitched her ears, still looking curiously at the other pride members fur. Her face lit up with a compliment on her own fur, though.

"Why, thank you!" She purred, she was incredibly proud of her green fur, especially her little dark green patch on her bum. She proceded to skake it as she responded. "It's my pride and joy." She said with a silly grin.

"Oh, my names Dauna by the way." She introduced herself after realizing she hadn't yet. She was aweful about remembering all these "little" details when meeting a new friend.

Kali was used to being stared at. In a pride of lions that valued bright colors over natural ones, it was pretty inevitable that she was going to get some strange looks. And, after the initial first week or so of it--where she had to be extra careful to keep her temper in check--she had gotten used to it. To be honest, she liked her browns. It helped her hunt when she wanted to blend in with her surroundings.

"I'm Kali," she returned, finishing drying her paws. Her coat would have to dry out on its own; she wasn't going to spend the time drying it herself when someone else was here that she could talk to.

"What are you doing here by the waterfall?" Trying to make conversation; that was another 'little' detail in meeting new people. Before you made good friends with a stranger, you had to go through the telltale conversation starters to get somewhere.

"Please to meet ya, Kali." She nodded at the other female and lowered her head while doing so. Although she was a grown lioness now she still wasn't use to that idea yet and felt as though she should treat other adults with more respect.

"Well, I had met a male here awhile back. He said he liked swimming quite a bit so I thought I would try and find him around here again..." She leaned over the water and looked down at it like she had when Dauna got ambushed.

"Uh, did you happen to see a very large red and black male down there by chance?" She looked back up towards Kali and laughed. Though, she would be lieing if she said she wasn't dissapointed that he wasn't here. It had been awhile since they met, perhaps he was alrealdy with the other older males.

Kali nodded knowingly, guessing the female's reason for returning even before she began to describe a big male that might've been around the area. "No, I'm sorry. I haven't seen anyone like that." Dauna had a little crush going on. The brown lioness knew exactly what that was like, and she was sympathetic to the other's plight.

"However, I'll be sure to let you know if I do see him," she promised lightly with a smile. "I haven't met any males yet. But I'll keep an eye out for yours."

"Too bad. I thought maybe the two swimming lions I've met so far might know eachother!" She chuckled and took a seat next to Kali.

"Thanks very much, but.." She paused before speaking further, her ears folding back as she continued. Her head hanging below her shoulders. "He's um, not my male or anything. We just talked once awhile back, but he was no more than a cub." A gaint cub, but a cub none the less.

"He's the only other male I've met besides my brother. We never got real close though before he went with the males, so I don't know if he even counts." Dauna tried to quicky change the subject with even more small talk.

"So uh, what clan do you belong to? I thought we had a monopoly on green in this pride!" She asked playfully.

Kali smiled and shook her head. An interesting notion, but it didn't work. She blinked at the surprise that the male in question was actually a cub, or had been when the two had met. And it wasn't unusual that the boys of a litter didn't grow up with their sisters. That was one of the things that had struck her as odd when she had first joined the pride. But she nodded sympathetically, and didn't mention it because Dauna rushed past it.

"I've seen so many yellows, I was starting to think I was the only one with green in the pride!" she teased back. "I'm in the Chatri clan, since they're more accepting of greens and not-so-bright-colors," Kali answered. "What about you?"

Dauna's eyes widend and she let out an almost kitten-like squeak at Kali's answer. Perhaps it wasn't as surprising as she was making it out to be, considering her color, but it was exciting to the young lioness none the less.
"How have we never met! I'm more sheltered than I thought." Dauna got up on her paws to deliver her answer. "I'm in the Chatri clan too! My mother is Eleaith, the Matron of the clan. Although, she won't be for too much longer, she's about to step down from her position. My sister is going to take over soon."

Kali laughed outright at such an excited response. "It's not your fault, it's probably mine. I just joined the pride recently but haven't been very sociable." She shook her head. "That's good news for your sister! Pass on my congratulations, if you don't mind." Her smile softened. "I'm sure we'll be running into each other a lot more often now, since we know more about each other. Especially if we're in the same clan!" What a small world.

"I do hope we see eachother! To be quiet honest, I really haven't been very social until now either. Besides you and my family, I've only ever met that male I was telling you about. Now that I'm done with my trainning though, I have a lot more time to go out and explore the rest of the pride." She sighed remembering when she was younger the excitement she felt when she managed to explore the jungle for a day by herself.

"Indeed, she's worked really hard to prepair to take over. She's hated it at times, but I know It'll pay off and she'll be a great leader." She grinned while talking about her. They hadn't seen much of eachother recently, but Dauna always kept her sister in her thoughts.

In the distance Dauna heard what she thought was a familiar roar. Her dark gray eyes grew wide and hears ears went up on end. She was about to dart off in the direction she heard it before turning around to explain herself to the naturally colored lion.

"I'm really sorry for suddenly leaving like this, but.. there is someone I need to go help I think." She nodded, hoping that she didn't ruin a potential new friendship with her rude behavior and quickly left the scene.
