"I'm telling you, Little Dreads, one will be here."

The orange haired Captain glanced over at the young man, who was continuing to shoot daggers in her direction. Daggers that said yeah ******** right, you said the same thing ten minutes ago.

"Trust me. I told you, I've done this before. One will show up. This park practically spawns senshi."

Purple boots swung carelessly as she let her feet dangle down. They'd been sitting in the large tree directly in the center of the park for a good twenty minutes now, Hematite having grown restless about twenty minutes prior. She was growing restless herself, but thankfully, the Captain was more patient than her young cohort.

They had been bored. It was a pleasant Saturday evening but there had been nothing to do. She'd hit him up for senshi patrolling - there had been no questions asked. Some slight hesitation (why hunt for senshi when one could laze around in a dorm room?) but he'd followed, in the end. And now found himself ten feet in the air, sitting uncomfortably atop a thick tree branch with the woman who might as well have taken on the title of Stepmom.

Letting off a yawn, one gloved hand moved up to cover her mouth. Several times now, Nealite had wandered into this park and run into senshi. Castor. Alkaid. Virgo. Nerissa. The list went on, merely proving her point that every damn time she came here, a senshi showed up.

And she'd be damned to be proven wrong this time.

Captain Hematite sulked. This was so stupid. He should never have said yes. This was stupid. Admittedly he hadn't actually come across any senshi in battle for some time now (to his secret relief). His bones had healed from that last encounter he'd apparently had, but he still bore a surgical scar as a neat slit along the side of his head, hidden by his dreadlocks now. Unconsciously, he reached up and scratched at an imaginary itch in just the same place. Then he returned his attention back to what he'd been doing, which was toying with his brand new weapon. It was bladed, and had some spikes too, which was all a hell of a lot more convenient for fighting than the last model (a pocketwatch??). With copious practice, he'd mastered the art of throwing a boomerang and having it return, but not having gloves had made catching it a little more difficult than he would have expected. There were pale lines on his palms, fingers, and even a few along the back of his hands, testaments to his trial and error. Some were healing and scabbing, but there were plenty of them fresh from as early as the day before. Could he even manage to use this thing in battle? If it didn't work, at least his pocketwatch had also been replaced. He'd have to settle for what he knew how to use.

Sitting in a tree for half an hour was stupid, Nealite's idea to come here was stupid. He just wanted to teleport back to Hillworth. There were no senshi here, and he wasn't so eager for the hunt that he'd wait around for Murphy's Law to take effect.

"Would you just look at the time, and wow, not a senshi in sight still," he commented boredly, glancing at the watch embedded in the center of his boomerang. "Maybe we're in the wrong park. You know, technically there's some park by Hillworth? It's probably the park. And I'll go patrol the school hallways or something. In the dorms. Maybe check to make sure there's no senshi in my room for the rest of today."

It had been almost pleasant lately, temperature-wise, and the merciful pattern continued through to today. Virgo could almost bear to look at her woefully exposed knees today, to say nothing of her toes. Couldn't they give them, like, winter uniforms? She wanted a pair of pants.

But then, at least she was used to it. Pisces wore thick stockings with her school uniform.

She was meandering down the path in that one park she almost always ended up in, clasping and unclasping the pretty stylized wheat detailing as her new Best Friend skipped along next to her. "No no," said Virgo, pausing, "you have to put a little more weight on your heel when you land or you're gonna twist something! Scy, be careful!" It wasn't that she found Sailor Scylla to be overly incautious. Actually, the senshi of the kraken was very, very cautious! It was a good trait to have, and probably went back to her awakening, which seemed like it had Not Gone Well. Virgo appreciated this trait, especially as it meant that Sailor Scylla stayed behind her when the Zodiac grabbed her arm.

One hand came up, pointing directly at the orange-haired Negaverse agent in front of them. "You," said Virgo, a little bit of irritation in her voice, "got me in a lot of trouble." The finger pointing to Nealite drifted to Hematite for a moment, and she narrowed her eyes, seemed like she was going to say something, and then she shut her mouth and dropped her arm. "Scy, these are Negaverse agents. They are the bad guys. The one on the left is Captain Nealite, but she's not a Captain like my Captain, and the other guy is..."

Confused, she looked at the dreadlocked Negaverse agent again, and then she pouted and said, "He's that guy. You know the guy, right?... You don't? Darn."

Somewhat lackadaisical--Nealite had never been a threat to her, except in Barren Pines when she'd had zombies, and then the one time when she'd almost gotten coerced into giving up her starseed--she turned back to the two agents and said, "Hey! What are you guys doing here, I'm teaching!" She didn't bother proposing they leave and come back next week; there was danger here, if only in the unknown (but known?) danger of the one with the bladed boomerang, and she wasn't going to moon about any more than she had.

One foot, two foot, three foot, hop! One foot, two foot, three foot, slip! (Scylla landed on her butt.) One foot, two foot, three foot, hah! Got it. One foot, two feet, three feet, oops! Scylla managed to catch herself before she almost did twist her ankle.

Darn that Virgo.

"I don't think that putting more weight on the heel would do much but break my shoe." the dark-haired senshi mused to the other young woman. Were the shoes the senshi wore any particular brand? Where did their clothing come from, anyway? How could they be sure the clothing was quality? The desire for an answer to these wardrobe questions meant that when Virgo grabbed her by the arm, Scylla immediately went to take a look at the heel of her shoe.

Close inspection of the blue (name-brand-less) heel had just begun when Virgo spoke. The rancor in the normally perky Senshi's voice startled Scylla for a moment before bright eyes peered up from her heel, sliding it onto her foot, and rose into the tree, following the path the other senshi's finger had been pointing in. "You had mentioned Captain-but-not Nealite, and... the guy?"

Which guy? Still, Jada managed to make 'the guy' sound almost degrading. Years of being snotty did come in handy. She gripped Virgo's arm, very lightly. "Well, if they were here first, we could always go somewhere else." she muttered, low enough for the other girl only.

Glancing up from the tips of her purple heels, orange eyes caught sight of the approaching duo and a grin spread wide across her face. She knew that one would show up eventu--oh.

Oh.

OH.

This was too good. Too ******** good.

"Virgo, darling! I don't know what in the world you're talking about!"

The second senshi wasn't recognizable. Which was fine, really. Two versus two, and if one senshi just happened to be the far-too-innocent-for-her-own-good Virgo, then the Negaverse clearly had the advantage on this one. They'd be bringing back a pair of senshi star seeds this evening, and she couldn't wait to see the expression on her husband's face when he was presented with them - one being a Zodiac's, even.

Sliding off of the branch, heels made a soft thud against the grass, and hands moved down to straighten her dress. Once satisfied, one hand moved out and Precious materialized, the older woman then giving her weapon a few practice swings for show.

It was obvious from Virgo's tone that she'd finally come to some sort of sense and realized the threat that stood before her. Which was a pity, honestly; she'd been horribly fun to toy with in the past.

One finger flicked itself out, pointing directly at the long haired senshi accompanying the Senshi of Innocence.

"Who's your friend, dear? Hematite and I would love to help give her some lessons."

There were people talking not far from them, down on the ground. But when he heard them drop Nealite's name, he glanced up just in time to see a finger being jabbed in his direction. Oh, ********. Senshi. This elicited a brief scowl from the captain. Hematite watched Nealite take off from the tree branch and tried to size up the senshi who had approached and gossiped. Instinct told him not to get near them, that his fighting skills were going to prove useless now just as they'd always been. And then maybe this time he'd ******** up even worse. But Nealite was probably not above raking him across the coals or worse for losing his nerve.

Well, at least this time he wasn't fighting alone. Satisfied that the fighting had yet to take place, the teen made his way down with a single jump. Holding his boomerang by the ticking middle, he sauntered over to the assembly of girls staring each other down - and stopped a good couple of feet before the imagined 'danger zone' of close proximity that Nealite seemed to ignore. He said nothing, yet. Just stared.

"Captain Aries was mad at me for listening to you," said Virgo resentfully, "she told me to never talk to you again." She startled visibly at the appearance of the mirror; she had seen it before, in Barren Pines, but she hadn't exactly been expecting the Negaverse officer to summon it out of nowhere. Well, it wasn't new news to her; hadn't the redheaded officer (Obsidian, she remembered) brought that terribly splintery sword out of nowhere?

She balled up her fists, slid one foot back for better balance. Were they going to fight? Virgo had hoped to have a little more time to teach Scylla the ropes before the senshi of the kraken had to fight anybody. "This is Sailor Scylla," she said, because it was only polite. "You can't call her Scy. Only I can call her Scy."

Okay, so she hadn't gotten that much wiser to Nealite's game.

When the dark-haired Negaverser approached, she backed up, pulling the newer senshi with her. "Captain Aries said I was supposed to beat you into the ground," she informed them both, her tone that of a child reciting a lesson. "And also to go for the eyes. That's what you do, okay, Scylla? That instep stuff doesn't work with Negaversers."

Then her attention turned back to Hematite. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Sailor Virgo, Zodiac Senshi of Innocence, and in the name of my Princess I will destroy you, so won't you please give up?"

Darn those henshin phrases.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 20, 2010 10:51 pm

Oh, the orange-haired Negaverser slid off the branch far too easily. It bothered Scylla, the practice this old woman obviously had. And wait, the negaversers got weapons?

Seriously, Scylla (and possibly the rest of the senshi [most definitely Virgo!]) had gotten the short end of this stick. "As Virgo advised, I am Scylla. And although I thank you for your offer, Nealite, I'm not looking for lessons in dressing like a-" she cut off her rather uncharitable comment before it began, turning her gaze to rest pointedly on Nealite's bosom. "An older woman." she finally said, tone sugar-sweet. "Though you do a wonderful job of it." she assured Nealite, tone sincere.

The purple gaze moved from the orange-haired older woman to the dreadlocked boy with her. He was only staring? Scylla stared back, meeting his gaze as evenly as she could. Noted, that his instep wouldn't be a weak point. The eyes it would be.

Virgo's phrase made her look mildly horrified. Virgo, destroy someone? With what offensive tactic? Scylla shifted her weight, put herself another step forward, trying to get in a position to better shield the Zodiac if she needed to. The Zodiac was a sucker for punishment with her powers; but she was the friendliest sucker Scylla had met. "Now Virgo, Nealite, Hematite, darlings; Can't we all just get along?"

The weather was disagreeable even if you were wearing pants. Well, come to think of it, today was rather nice considering the weather lately. Moreso if you had pants and a snazzy pair of knee-high boots to go along with it! His downfall, of course, was a small top -- but who cares? Look! PANTS! BOOTS!

These items had very little effect when you happened to be crouching on a roof, looking like the world's most pathetic gargoyle.

Ever since he discovered the senshi-blessed ability to jump higher than any human, Merope became addicted to it. The rooftops were a brand new place to hang out, to watch the world go by... No wonder Batman always posed dramatically on top of Gotham City's tallest buildings, Merope thought. The view was incredible! He could see everything from here, from the movements of traffic to --

"HEY! What are you doing here?!"

Merope jumped and spun around, staring as the owner of the building (or was it one of their subordinates?) gaped at them from the door to the rooftop. He made a heroic reply of "Um," followed by "SorryIthoughtthiswasabandoooooned!" as he hauled senshi-butt out of there by jumping from roof to roof away from the offending building, before scampering down a fire escape. Well! Guess he had to find another location.

He was about to step out of the alley when the pair across the street caught his attention. Short skirts in this weather?! Granted the sun was out, but it wasn't exactly time to flaunt off the latest spring fa-no. Wait. Didn't Merope see those two girls before...?

Both Sailor Virgo and Sailor Scylla turned into the park then. Merope hurried across the street to catch up, stopping outside of the area itself. It sounded like...? He peered around the corner. More senshi?! No, they had pants. And weren't as colorful. Were these the Negaverse-members that he was warned about? Sailor Merope pumped a fist in the air. YESSSS! It was just what he was looking for! What better of a way to show off to two other senshi than to defeat their shared enemy?!

Merope crouched by the base of the park's brick wall and sprung up, steadying himself on top. From here... Hm. He stared, then looked around. How could he make an entrance? By dropping down and surprising the enemy from behind? By charging forward? Or...? His gaze settled on the melting snow, a lightbulb going off in his mind.

A snowball wasn't too hard to form, even if it was a bit drippy. Merope squeezed it into shape as he half-listened. You! Blahblahblaah, get along... Geeze. He examined his snowball and stood up slowly, hoping he didn't attract attention and that all attention was on the Sailor Scouts (and why not? They were pretty nice to look at, even the dreaded negaverser agreed! And speaking of...). Merope chucked the snowball at Captain Hematite, shouting, "HEY YOU! It's not nice to stare at the ladies! I'm Sailor Merope, and you're about to wipe out!"

"Well, you're talking to me now aren't you? Sounds like you've already broken one of your Captain's orders... though I must say, your Captain sounds simply atrocious, to bark out all those terrible orders for you to do."

Tucking her mirror into her belt, she moved one hand to brush through her long hair as she continued to smile at the duo, "Though from the sound of things, you're just as mean and terrible as she is. Really, Virgo? Beating me to the ground? How heartless!"

Her hand managed to snag itself in her hair, and as she pulled it out, an idea popped into her head. "Besides darling, haven't you heard? I'm a changed woman." Presenting her left hand to the younger girl, she gently waved her hand. "See? I've gotten married. Turned over a new leaf. And you still want to beat me up? Oh Hematite, I dont know what to think anymore!"

To add to the dramatics of the moment, she leaned over onto her companion's shoulder, wrapping her arms around his as her cheek rested on his shoulder. "These senshi are so cruel. I mean, I dont see how they expect us to do good if they don't even give us a chance."

Her acting was cut off, however, as Scylla's words registered in her mind. Older woman.

Eyes narrowed and her mouth formed a fine line as she stared at the younger girl. Keeping her tone as it had been, she sniffed, "It's alright, dear, I wouldn't have been able to help you out much in that department anyhow - it's a shame, really, that others aren't as blessed and endowed as I am. Hard to turn something into a swan if they're no longer in the duckling stage, hm?"

Their conversation was soon interrupted by the flying snowball, and Nealite quickly unwrapped her arms from around the other Captain and took a step back, her nose scrunching as part of the wet debris had managed to hit her outfit.

"Speaking of lessons...Hematite, perhaps you should teach our friend Frosty over there some manners, for starters?"

"Afternoon, ladies," he purred, looking at Virgo first, then meeting Scylla's gaze with a wink. For the most part he seemed to have a distant, dangerous smile. However, a look of extreme annoyance crossed Hematite's features briefly as Nealite showed off her ring, without comment. As Nealite hung off one arm, the captain shook the boomerang he had hooked by one arrow-end with his fingers in the direction of the senshi pair accusingly, though he didn't look any more serious than his partner. "Threatening a woman in public, Virgo! It's no wonder people think you senshi are all dangerous psychopaths. You're going to have more headlines than Sailor Nea did at this rate-"

"s**t!" Something cold and wet had hit him full in the face. Hematite reached up his free hand quickly to brush the remains of the snowball off his face. Before he could give anyone an accusing stare, the culprit had announced himself. It was a scrawny boy senshi, who apparently had not mastered the concept of buttoning up shirts. Wow, either they were getting dumber, or - no, they were definitely getting dumber. Hell, one of those senshi had politely asked him to surrender! Rolling his eyes and exchanging a look with Nealite, he countered the pirate-costumed senshi with all the maturity he could muster. "It's a hell of a lot nicer to look at them than your ugly face!"

The Negaverse captain folded his arms, now looking at Sailors Scylla and Virgo as though he were trying to undress the two of them with his eyes - and being that this was Hematite, it was probably exactly what he was attempting. It was almost not even necessary, as their shirts and skirts were low-cut enough to not leave much to the imagination. Casually (but careful not to slice himself with the boomerang), he disentangled his arms again and waved the free one in the direction of Captain Hook. He flashed him a mocking smile before turning his eyes back to the two girls. "So, that's what you poor girls have got to choose from? That kid's about as masculine as a daisy. No wonder you're both so upset, you senshi don't even know what a real man is! Scy, was it? And Virgo? Let me demonstrate what you've both been missing out on."

He darted forward a few steps in the direction of Sailor Merope and let the boomerang fly on the last one. He hadn't been very careful, given he was trying to show off a little too much, so it probably wasn't going to come back on its own. At least it seemed to have taken off in the right direction.

Well, if Scy didn't want to introduce herself, that was Scy's call. Virgo was going to stand here and look imposing. (Protip: Being imposing worked better if you weren't petite, five foot five in heels, and a hundred and ten pounds soaking wet after eating an entire turkey.) She managed it for all of ten seconds, and then Nealite announced she'd gotten married. What happened next was either adorable, ridiculous, or a combination of both: Her entire face lit up, she clapped her hands together, and she said breathlessly, "Oh, congratulations!"

She started forward, clearly intending to go look at the ring; Scylla, however, stepped between them, an angry look on her face. For a long moment, Virgo stared, and then understanding dawned. "Ah," said Virgo. "Okay." She shrugged at Nealite, as if to say what can you do?, then dropped her arms back to her sides. You did not give the bad guys a chance, said Captain Aries. You kick them apart. She was about to say this, raising her hand a little as if waiting to be called on in class, but a battle cry interrupted her. Then she ended up staring, quite unabashed, at a blue-clad and tanned senshi who leapt into battle with... a snowball?

In a classically hypocritical move, she made a face at Sailor Merope's immature antics. (Hey, wasn't Merope a girl's name anyway? She was unsure.) "My brother's a senshi," said Virgo informatively, "He's very masculine!"

Then Hematite used her nickname for Scylla. Virgo was about ready to yell her head off at him--You jerk, I said you couldn't call her that, etc, etc--but she saw him run towards the blue-haired senshi, and she was off like a shot. In a move that someone who didn't know Virgo might have called badass, she slapped the boomerang down to the ground. She didn't even cut herself, although--

"Ow," Virgo whined, rubbing the side of her hand. "That hurt." She craned her neck to look at the new tear in the side of her dress, pouting now, and rather distracted by investigation of the unharmed brown slip.

This completely ruined the badassery of the moment.

Scylla's lips curved in an equally distant, polite smile in response to Hematite's wink. She looked him up and down as boldly as he looked over she and Virgo. As Virgo decided to go take a look at her enemy's wedding ring (Protip, Virgo, if you are looking at her hand, she can shove it through your chest and rip out your starseed,) she stepped between the two of them, giving Virgo a withering, almost motherly look of 'What are you, an absolute dipshit?' "It is a shame, Nealite. Congratulations on the old ball and chain. You surely understand that we'll elect to not admire the ring. It looks so petite from here. What is it, a half carat? And for your sake, I wish I had met you before you turned into an old goose so I could have saved you the fashion faux pas you're wearing." Not that Scylla could talk about bad fashion; She wasn't exactly modern and stylish herself in this fuku. Of course, if she had her way, she'd be in Prada. Prada, however, was far too expensive for a vigilante.

That was fortunately the moment the snowball had hit the pair (thank god it was before Scylla had continued her verbal abuse of the carrot-haired older woman) and a blue-haired man in pants (Virgo, Virgo, thank god Scylla had learned her lesson from Castor!) jumped from nowhere to proclaim his intentions of 'wiping out' the Negaversers.

Alright, fine and dandy for Scylla! "You know, Hematite, here's a tip from the ladies; a boomerang, of all things, isn't going to get you any. Virgo, you have a brother?" Was he single? ANYWAYS, her tip didn't stop Hematite from flinging his boomerang out towards Merope. She made no move to interfere. The other senshi had chosen to call attention and combat to himself, after all. She kept her attention was on Nealite, making sure the negaverser wouldn't choose that moment to attack. Not that the older woman looked much of a threat, but she'd already learned you couldn't judge power from appearances.

Then Virgo was moving, and Scylla wasn't quite fast enough to stop her. s**t. She didn't take both eyes off of Nealite, that would have been stupid with the level of antagonistic she'd been towards the other woman. Still, Virgo slapped the boomerang physically from the air and Scylla felt herself take a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. "Why Hematite, that was so manly, wasn't it?" she made no attempt to move. No one was hurt yet; she hadn't yet found her reason to fight.

This could still be salvaged. So she didn't introduce herself, waiting to see how the tides would turn before getting all dramatic.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 22, 2010 11:33 pm

YES! Merope lifted his chin and rested his hands on his hips, striking a heroic pose as the snowball hit. The toss, the collision -- it would be a memory the boy would treasure forever and ever. At least, until he discovered that Nealite was also Queen Beryl, and that part of the snowball meant for Hematite struck her. At that point in time most likely Merope would make a note to stay far away from any orange-haired ladies.

"Excuse me? I'm sorry, did that ficus plant over there just speak? I'll let you know I -- YAAAGH!" The boy immediately regretted taking a step forward as he spoke, his arms flailing before he tumbled into the bushes at the base of the wall.

The bushes rustled and Merope emerged, removing a stray twig from his hair like a flourish before using it to point at Hematite. "HA! For all your bark, you don't have much bite! You couldn't even throw that thing!"

Were the others watching? He glanced at the pouting Virgo to the Kraken senshi, disappointed that the zodiac was more concerned about her dress and the later was busy watching the older, bustier woman who in turn seemed unimpressed. Damn!

Disappointment was an understatement for Nealite as Virgo backed away from the ring. There had been a small glimmer of chance that she could have some final fun with the Senshi of Innocence, but Miss No Tits was busy being the standard uppity senshi b***h and spoiling her fun.

Hmph.

She was on the verge with her comeback to the fashion disaster in front of her, when Hematite moved in for his first attack, silencing both sides as they watched him go for the cocky Merope. Eyebrows rose as she watched Virgo counter the attack, even subjecting her outfit to the blow of the sharp boomerang. It was always amusing when one of them decided to be the sacrificial lamb over these sort of things. Shame it wasn't Miss No Tits, really, trying to take the blow instead of Virgo.

Grinning, she shook her head and cast a glance towards the taller boy. "Why Hematite, I do believe he just called your bluff, dear. Maybe you should show him how much practice you really have with that thing?"
