"Senka stop sulking already," Lin sighed as she was making sure Miyuki was snug in her carrier.
She had her traveling bag, the one she always had and the newer one she had brought on her trip ended up being Miyuki's travel bag. Everything was fine, except Lin having had no time to get a hair cut ended up pulling half of her hair back and keeping it out of her face with a clip.
Her other problem was that Senka had become jealous of Miyuki because Lin had spent most of her time looking after the baby. The baby had first dibs on being fed, being held, and generally being looked after.
"Now we just have to wait for Shiro," she told Miyuki.

Shiro wasn't far behind Lin, but he didn't have any bags with him. And he didn't look too happy.
"Lin?" he called, stepping into the portal room. "Ah, you're there already. I ... won't be coming with you." He sighed and jammed his hands into his pockets. "Ura flat out refuses to go anywhere this soon after getting home, and I can't go without him. Not for another big trip."
He was disappointed, but what could he do?
"Give everyone my apologies, and explain the situation for me?" he asked Lin with a pitiable look in his eyes.

Ura was always the more outspoken one of the two, but it surprised her. Normally the two agreed on the same things, but then again maybe Ura was developing now his own sets of likes and dislikes.
"Don't worry," Lin assured him, "I'll tell them, after all you can go far without Ura, that's just the nature between the two of you."
Though it seemed like he really wanted to go.
"I'll explain don't worry," Lin smiled, "I'll be going then I'll see you later. Say bye bye Miyuki."
"Guuu...."
Well Lin wasn't surprised actually seeing as Miyuki was actually a baby but it didn't hurt to try. Waving at Shiro again Lin stepped through the portal with Senka hot on her heels.

Shiro grinned and waved back. "Have a good trip," he told Lin sincerely. "Bring back lots of stories for me, and let me know how little Amalirahc is doing!"
He honestly wanted Lin to have a good time, though he knew it was also going to be difficult for her, having a baby now and all.

As Lin walked down the hall of the maze she noted that Miyuki's eyes gave off a slight glow like the way a cat's would reflect light. Somehow she wasn't so surprised by this, but it was kind of strange seeing it from golden eyes. Eventually she made her way out and found herself once more in front of Queen Atalya's study.
Senka on the other hand had run off to find Earendil since she was still sore that she hadn't had the attention that she was use to. Lin sighed at the antics of her cat, maybe having one she thought as she knocked on the door, wasn't a good idea when one had a baby.
But Saki was never this troublesome.

It was Atalya herself who opened the door for Lin, and her eyes grew wide when she saw the baby in Lin's arms.
"Welcome back, Lin," she said, moving aside so that Lin could come into her study. "And who is this? A new sibling?"
Though for the life of her, she couldn't figure out why Lin would be taking a brand new sibling with her on a trip.

Stepping in, Lin suddenly felt really awkward, she wasn't her mother after all. If this had been her mother, her mother would have been bouncing with joy introducing her new little one.
Not that Lin wasn't happy to have Miyuki, it was just awkward.
"This is Miyuki... my daughter," she murmured.
Upon hearing her name Miyuki's ears twitched and she looked up at and tried to look around her. Which was hard when you were strapped to your mother's chest.
"Apparently mother isn't the only one who finds children randomly..."

Atalya was shocked for a moment when Lin introduced Miyuki as her daughter, but when she added the bit about finding the child, she relaxed visibly.
"Well then, congratulations," she smiled warmly. "And since I have not seen this type of person yet, what race is she?"
She tickled Miyuki under the chin lightly, her eyes soft and warm.

There was a soft shriek of a giggle at being tickled and an immediate interest of the person who was doing the tickling.
"Kaito believes she is a kitsune. The thing is, kitsunes and fox-people because they share the same traits are often confused with each other. I won't know until she grows older if she's really a kitsune."
Lin sighed a bit thinking about Kaito's bet.
"But knowing Kaito, he's probably correct."
Meanwhile Senka was wandering the halls trying to find Earenidl, he would pay attention to her at least. It wasn't fair, why did that little half furless wonder have to come along? It couldn't even talk.

Atalya giggled back at the baby. "And what is the difference?" she asked Lin curiously, glancing up at her. "She looks like a fox to me ... or, fox-person, I suppose."
And of course she had never heard of kitsunes before, so she wouldn't know what any of that meant.
Earendil had just taken a bath after a long morning of training again, and he was heading down the corridor, on his way towards the dining hall for some lunch, when he spotted Senka.
"Senka!" he beamed, kneeling and holding his hands out for her. "You're back!"

"She does, doesn't she? Kitsune is actually Japanese for fox, but in their context kitsunes are far more magical, certainly immortal and can grow up to nine tails."
Lin looked thoughtfully back at Miyuki who was trying to grab Atalya's finger.
"So in theory if she grows a second tail, Kaito is right, and if that's the case I'm going to have to be on the look out for her developing magical gifts."
She hadn't quite had the time to research on what sort of gifts, but her mother had giggled when she told her daughter about kitsunes having strong magic.
"Mine!" Senka pounced on his hand and gently began to paw at it.
She had missed him.

The queen allowed the infant to play with her finger, smiling bemusedly. "Somehow, I have the strangest feeling that this is going to be another one of your epic adventures, as Earendil likes to call them," she murmured. She glanced up at Lin again. "And on that note, he would be having lunch about this time, if you want to go see him."
She nodded at the guard who was standing in the corner of the room. "Sir Melwyn will take your bags to your room, if you like. Same room as always. Would you like a cradle brought up for you?"
Earendil chuckled and lifted Senka up, holding her close and stroking her happily. "I missed you too, Senka," he murmured, scritching her the way he knew she liked best. "But speaking of yours, where is Lin? Isn't she normally the one you won't let out of your sight?"
He continued on towards the dining hall, though he was curious - and more than a little confused. He had never seen Senka go somewhere without Lin willingly before. Had something happened to Lin?

"She's probably showing off the furball," Senka replied haughtily.
If Lin ever caught her calling Miyuki that there would be hell to pay. Despite Lin's intital wariness of looking after a child, there were some things she would not stand for.
"Thank you," Lin replied gratefully, "It would be helpful to have a cradle, I fold up one, but I'd rather not use it unless I had to."
Besides, Miyuki didn't have to do without a real bed quite yet.

Earendil blinked at Senka. "Furball?" he repeated, heading into the dining hall. "What furball? Did Lin get a new pet?"
As he sat down at the table, a servant appeared with a tray for him. She set it on the table in front of him, bowed, and left once more.
Earendil opened the tray and picked out the small bit of fish that was on it, setting it on the edge of his plate for Senka.
Atalya smiled and nodded as the guard took Lin's bags from her. "I will have it brought to your room right away."
She set one hand on Lin's shoulder and smiled warmly at her. "It is good to have you back again, Lin," she said sincerely. "Very good indeed. Now go on, Earendil will be happy to see you."

She couldn't help but beam up at Atalya, to an extent it was like Lin was part of the family. Thought that's what happenes when one spends half of their life in one place.
"I'll see you later," she murmured before pulling away.
"Aah...." no more finger for her to hold as Miyuki blinked a few times watching the lady get farther away.
Now they were going to somewhere new, in this new strange smelling place.
She snatched the fish away with her teeth and chewed it happyily it made her much happier to eat it.
"A baby," Senka snorted.
As far as Senka was concerned it was the stork's fault.
