Xbalanque was staring at the shopping list he had gotten from his Na. It was strange that the blue haired woman let him out by himself at all, nevermind doing something as important as grocery shopping and money handling. It...kind of made him feel important, being trusted with the food in the house! The money that Switch had given him was also safely tucked away in the empty eye socket on the skull half of his face, partially hidden from view by his shaggy brown hair. So he was going to do a good job, prove to Na and Kale that he could do it...and probably get a later curfew out of the deal!
Hopefully, anyway.
The closer he got to the store, the more his senses picked up on...something familiar! The list was folded back up and put into a pocket on his obnoxiously bright pants, and his attention was focused on finding that person he sensed, one who, like him, had come from the Curiosities shop. His senses honed in on a pink haired person in the distance (the pink hair being the only thing he could REALLY spot from where he was), and with a grin he jogged over, waving his hand in the air.
"Hey! Helloooo!" He called out, trying to get the person's attention.

This was the first time in some time that Jiang and Dei had headed out of the house on their own, not since they had gone to meet with Trin and Gera for a rather disastrous meeting. This seemed to be going well for the moment for them and Deimos seemed to be getting better and better at using his new legs as well though he was clinging onto the arm of his Momma to keep from tipping over and because he felt safer holding on tightly to him.
He was for a moment oblivious to the fact that was someone was calling out to him, not really noticing until the 'hello' that was a bit drawn out reached him. He turned slowly to look over his shoulder toward the voice and his eyes went huge. Ah! S-Snake! It was the first thing the boy saw and his grasp on Jiang got that much tighter. It looked... familiar? Why did it look so familiar? His mind raced and he could recall it was Gera! Gera had taken on a form similar to that one. What had he called the scary looking person again?
"K-Kay...?" He murmured, was that who this was? The Kay that Gera had spoken of and mimicked the look of? He stepped in closer to his parent who had stopped mid-step to see what had gotten Deimos so frightened, not that it couldn't be any number of things, and glanced over toward the one approaching them and understood instantly.
"Ahh, hello there." Jiang greeted the new comer as he was sure that Dei was going to do so.

Oh good, they stopped! Kay caught up with them quickly, leaning over to put his hands on his knees once he reached them, taking a moment to catch his breath. Yelling and running was hard work! Recovering quickly, he grinned at the pair though his attention was more on the pink haired one that looked about his age. "Wow! You know my name? That's awesome! Are you psychic?" He questioned the timid looking one, seemingly unaware that he was causing discomfort. Nahual, the snake that was fused to Kay's skull, merely observed the pair for a moment. Deeming them harmless, he gave a huff and curled into his host's matted hair; he was quite content to ignore them all.
"Thoooough that's not really my name. I mean yeah, everyone calls me 'Kay' but that's because 'Xbalanque' is too long." Prattling breathlessly, he held out his right hand like he'd seen Na do all the time; he was assured that shaking hands was a polite and welcoming gesture. Where could that possibly go wrong? Never, that's where! "Nice to meet you! What's your name?"

Deimos blinked a couple times as the other boy seemed to bed over and seemed to be trying to catch his breath while he only starred. His eyes moved to that snake that he had on his head and did his best not to shudder or worse, faint again. Last time he had Gera had gotten in trouble for scaring him and he didn't want to get anyone else in trouble. Luckily for the pink haired boy his shaking was hidden by the robes that he was wearing, "N-No... not psychic... G-Gera told me your name." In a round about fashion at least.
He tilted his head as the other gave his 'to long' name and then starred at the hand that was held out to him as though he were afraid that it might be as dangerous as the rest of him appeared.
"Its alright Deimos, you can do it." Jiang murmured, lifting a hand to sooth it over his son's hair in a gentle manner.
The boy starred at the hand for a long, drawn out moment longer before he lifted his own shaking hand to take that of Kay and gave it a quick shake, "D-Deimos Celestia." He introduced himself in a rush, "M-Momma's name is Jiang." He added.

"Aww...Hey wait, Gera?" His disappointment over this...boy...not being psychic was abandoned once the Golemn's name was brought up. Instead his expression brightened and his grin returned. "Gera's awesome! He was talking about me? Or did he mimick Nahual again?" Honestly curious, the dark skinned boy pointed up to the snake that was trying to sleep in his hair. As far as he knew, there weren't many kids on Gaia with snakes coming out of their heads, so that might've been how he was recognized? "You came from the shop too, didn't you?" Because his senses, at least with people like him, were never wrong!
A red eye flickered to the Guardian, then back down to the kid apparently named Deimos, waiting eagerly for his handshake. When Deimos shook his hand, Kay responded a little too eagerly but was quick to let go when the other did, his hands moving to rest on his hips and his feet a shoulders length apart; the perfect picture of prideful self esteem. "Hi! My Na is Switch but she's not here 'cause Tek is sick. I'm going grocery shopping! Wanna come with me?" Because Deimos and Jiang would TOTALLY know who Tek was. If he was right though, Switch should be familiar to Jiang at least. Apparently, being out on his own made him a little more chatty than he usually was. Poor, Poor Deimos.

This boy was very talkative he thought to himself as he listened to him, trying to decide where to start with his answers to the questions, "He... spoke of you and..." He trailed off as he lifted his gaze to stare at the snake before he gave a slow nod, "He copied your look." He wouldn't admit that he'd been so startled by the sudden skull and snake look Gera took on that he'd passed out. He decided now that it was probably a good thing that he'd seen the look once before he might have fainted dead away when this kid came rushing toward them... he would have to thank Gera next time he saw the metal boy.
"S-Shop?" He gave a nod though he didn't want to think about it, having thought that the shop that was mentioned had been in all ways scary when he'd been forced to visit again some time back along with the rest of his family, "Y-Yes... I am from there." He said, hoping not to have to visit the building again any time soon.
The pink haired boy was more then happy to withdraw his hand back into the sleeve of his robe and was never more happy then getting it back in one piece. He'd almost been afraid that the snake was going to attack him like the ones on the nature channel attacked mice... that would have been so terrible! He gave the serpent another glance before his strangely colored eyes lifted up to gaze at Jiang to see what he said in response to the question.
"Well... we are on our way there now to get something for dinner, you are more then welcome to come along." It would be good for Deimos to be around more people from the same place he was from, it would be good for him as well to make friends as well since at the moment the only one he'd made was Gera and it had been some time Dei had met up with the boy. As much Deimos would likely love to run away he was going to try to play the part of the mediator and help his son to get a new friend.

"Copy my look? Cool! Y'wanna pet him? He won't bite, I promise! He's all soft too. Feathers." Kay offered, poking at the curled up serpent on his head. The thought didn't even cross Nahual's mind to bite Deimos. The only ones that had ever gotten bitten by the feathered serpent was Kay (naturally) and Switch, on a few occasions. Deimos didn't suddenly try to touch him, so he didn't even get hissed at! Nahual grudgingly like this kid for leaving him alone.
"Oooh..." Kay said suddenly, snapping his fingers as though a great worldly truth was bestowed upon him. "I think I saw you at the shop! You were reeeeeal small though." Well, not that small, but smaller than he was now? Tilting his head, he stared at Deimos' feet. "And you have legs now?" Huh, how odd! Maybe he was like Gera, and could morph them?
"I'd love to come along, thanks!" Kay chirped, despite the fact that he was the one to initially invite them along. "So you're going to the grocery store too, right? I have a list..." Holding his tongue between his teeth, he dug around in his pockets until he found the paper, holding it out to Jiang to show him, but not to let him take it. "See?"

"No!" He said in a gasping rush then drew in a deep breath and tried to ease his overwhelming fear that engulfed him. He let out his held breath slowly "No, t-thank you." He said, hoping to fix his earlier cry as he didn't want to insult either of them. He gave a wobbly smile hoping that neither would be upset with him but the last thing he wanted to do at the moment was to pet a real, live snake... it frightened him greatly to even consider such a thing.
He tilted his head to the side, looking curious as it was mentioned that this one had seen him before when he was smaller. He tried his best to recall when they might have met but he was coming up blank... maybe when he had visited the shop before? It was all that made sense to him since he didn't get out to much unless he had to. Deimos looked down at his legs when attention was brought to them and then gave a nod, lifting one up to show it off and seemed to relax bit, "T-They are new." He said with a happy tone to his voice, glad the conversation had moved passed the snake. He was rather pleased with the new limbs as he liked them, liked to move around on them, and had a lot of fun with picking out shoes to wear on them.
Jiang leaned over to look at the list before giving a smile, "Very good, lets go then." He said, looking between the boys and seem to be happy to see that that Deimos was actually talking with someone let alone that he was still conscious, it was a good day! He motioned to the pair to come along and started along on the path that would bring them to the store once more.

Kay's head tilted at the outburst from the other boy, his red eye wide. Wow, he was passionate! Laughing happily, he shook his head (causing the snake to grumble in distain), waving a hand in dismissal. "S'okay! If you change your mind, it's not like he's going anywhere!" Laughing happily once more, his hand returned to his hip, watching Deimos lift up a foot. Nahual scrutinized Deimos with a sharp eye; he liked this kid a lot...he didn't touch him at all. Content, the serpent closed it's eye and tried to sleep.
"Yeeeeah, feet are pretty awesome." Kay agreed whole heartedly with himself, lifting his own booted foot. It was probably nice of him to let Deimos know that his new legs and feet would be fun for him, right? "Shoes? Not so much." He sighed, closing his eye and shaking his head sadly. Like the obnoxiously colourful pants he was wearing, constantly having bare feet was something she had a hard time deterring him from. Sometimes she won and had him at least in socks, but lately? Bare feet. She'd only won the battle today because most grocery stores had "no shirt, no shoes, no service" clause, which also finally got her to win the argument about wearing a shirt in public. He wore it, but since it was a simple white over shirt, he left it open over his dark chest. Wearing it? Yes. Wearing it properly? No.
"So what kinda food are you getting?" Kay asked conversationally, trotting after Deimos and his Guardian, though falling into step beside the former. "I haveta get a loootta stuff." Which...was really only a short list of about seven things. But to a kid? seven was a lot!
Then, a pause. "Yer a boy, right?" Kay asked Deimos, not an ounce of ill will in his voice. Deimos was a boys name, and he souded like a boy...but he was also very pretty with long hair! Not that long hair meant you were a girl; parts of his own hair was pretty long too! But still, never too safe to ask!

Deimos was quite relieved when it seemed he didn't insult the other boy with his outburst and instead it seemed as though he didn't mind to terribly much that Dei wanted nothing to do with the snake. The snake might have been happy about it as well since it curled up to sleep, he knew that he didn't really like to be bothered when he slept either.
He glanced down at Kay's feet and then to his own, giving a bit of a smile, "I k-kind of liked p-picking out shoes... but that is p-probably because I c-couldn't wear them until now." Putting aside the fact that Kay had a scary look to him between the half skull looking 'mask' and the snake that he had growing out of his head, Dei would almost say that he was someone he didn't mind dealing with. Almost, since all people were inherently scary to the boy, even Gera who acted more like a robot at times then a real person.
Jiang seemed to be thinking on it for a moment then smiled, "Well I need to pick out some sort of meat to go along with the pasta that I am making, a vegetable as well. Along with that we need some bread to make in garlic bread, and something for dessert." He listed off, he was only going for a few things he was missing for the meal, the meat part being the one part that he was the least interested in. It was Reu that ate that stuff, Jiang himself couldn't stomach eating any sort of meat as it made him feel rather guilty.
Deimos gave a little squeak sound and his cheeks colored a bit before he nodded his head, "I-I am a b-boy!" He said, quite embarrassed that the other might not think that he was one. He'd emulated his style from Momma Jiang and he was a boy... then again being older then he was the kirin might appear more male, huh? He shifted in place, toeing the ground, "I am, even if I d-don't look the p-part."

"Oooh...yeah, I guess you'd like shoes then. My Na likes shoes, and Kale likes shoes...Tek's just a baby but I don't think he likes any clothing." Kay mused, curious over the new feet that Deimos had acquired. "I never really liked shoes...I like to feel the ground. But it's totally okay if you like them. Shoes suit you." Kay was grinning that stupidly happy grin of his; he was a bright kid, but he just loved to have fun. His red eye moved to the colourful guardian, that smile still on his lips.
"Na makes this reeeeeally good pasta with chicken! Chicken is meat, kinda. Maybe you could use that?" Kay suggested, tilting his head. Kale was a stay at home caretaker...but it was always Switch that cooked, even though she spent her entire day at the shop. Huh. "I like steak myself. Na won't let me have it any more raw than Medium Rare though, 'cause she says anything less cooked than that is gross...I suppose it's okay, but I love it when they accidentally undercook it! The bloodier the better!" The Shaman boy prattled on, totally unaware of their distate of bloody meat. Nahual, irritated over Kay's constant talking, glared down at the boy and gave a low, displeased hiss. Shut up Kay! Unfortunately, the boy either didn't hear him, or didn't care. "Oh but I guess steak doesn't go well with pasta..." Huh, too bad. The boy's attention drifted back to the grocery list, though he didn't really look at it. "Mine's mostly eggs and bread and stuff...and formula for Tek, 'cause he can't eat food yet." Their grocery list was way more fun, in his opinion.
Kay's head canted when Deimos squeaked and...seemed embarrassed? Huh, how odd! "Nah, I thought you were a boy, I was just checking." He assured the pink haired one, closing his eyes for a fox-eyed grin. "I just didn't wanna be like 'This is my friend Deimos, he's like me!' and then find out you weren't a boy. That woulda been embarrassing for both'a us, yeah?" Kay tilted his head quickly enough to make the beads in his hair clink together, but he was tugging lightly on the long lock of partially braided hair that hung on the left side of his head, the one that was looped at the bottom. Though, the rest of his hair was cropped and shaggy. "See? I have long hair too!" Because that totally made sense.

Deimos couldn't help but to stare as Kay seemed to talk and talk and talk. Wow... he didn't think that he could recall ever knowing anyone that had ever talked as much as this one person here did. In fact between him and his Momma both they didn't talk as much as him, it was... funny but neat at the same time... he was really loud but not all that bad. In fact he... kinda liked him as much as he could like anyone. He was... still a little scared of him, especially certain features of his, but it was hard to dislike him because he seemed so... nice when he talked.
Jiang's eyes got a bit wide as the boy mentioned what sort of meat he liked. Raw? He did his best to keep from showing how startled he was that someone would want to eat meat that hadn't been cooked all the way through... the bloodier the better... that line made his stomach do a painful flip-flop in his belly. He drew in a deep breath then let it out slowly, "I might try your chicken idea." He said finally, hoping that it would be something that Reu would enjoy eating. He was happy when the boy was back to chatting it up with Dei and the conversation was turned away from food.
"I see... okay." He murmured, that was better then the other boy being confused about what he was. That he was just making for certain that he was in fact a boy so he didn't make a mistake later... wait, wait... Kay had called him a friend? "Ahh... I... am your f-friend?" He asked suddenly of the other, could someone really make friends that fast?

If there was ever one thing Kay was good at, it was talking. There was no such thing as silence when he was involved...and if there was silence, he was thinking about what to say next. From one topic right to the next! The Shaman boy was happily unaware that Jiang was getting ill over his talk of raw, bloody meat; Jiang didn't say to stop, and he wasn't looking at him to catch the visual clues! "Chicken is great! You gotta let me know what you think!" Because he'd love to bring a story back to Na, about how he shared her (minimal) cooking prowess to someone else's benefit!
"Yeah, yeah! You can't be too careful...Na has short hair like a boy, but she's a girl! I know because..." He trailed off for a minute. Wait, how DID he know? Hmm. Blinking, he cupped his hands over his own chest like he was holding bowls against them, tilting his head. "Well she's got these things...but she says not all girls do. So I guess I know because I know!" Grinning, he dropped his hands to pick at the outer seams of his pants, looking over at Deimos when he seemed...surprised? What was so surprising about being friends?
"Yeah, why wouldn't we be?" He said in complete surprise, staring at the other boy like he'd grown a second head that was making faces at him. "I like you, and you haven't told me to 'Get Lost' yet..." That wide, overly friendly and probably worrying grin spread back onto his lips, his arms spreading wide too. "So...friends!"
A very slight pause, then...
"Grocery store! We made it alive! Woo!"

"I will be sure to let you know how things go." He told the boy with a smile, though he would need to question his mate about it after the meal was over extensively to see what Reu thought of everything.
Dei's eyes got a little wide as Kay made the motions in front of his chest to indicate a woman's round chest and he found himself giggling. He couldn't help it... it was just... a strange sight to behold and even his normal, oppressive fear couldn't seem to keep the sound held back. It would seem that Kay, like Gera, had gotten through the haze of fear to the pink haired child. He listened closely to the explanation for how... simple it seemed to be to make friends for Kay and he felt a little envious of his bravery.
"I-I... t-thank you, Kay." He murmured, smiling happily. It was quite nice to learn that he could make friends, that was yet another thing that Deimos had always been afraid of given how weak, jumpy, and easily intimidated he was. It was like a weight off the young boy's shoulders and he happily followed along after him as they made their way to the store. He gave a jump when the other boy happily announced that they had made it before he smiled once more.
Jiang looked at the two boys, "Alright, Deimos if you want to go with your friend to get the bread?" He suggested, he didn't at all like to go near where the meat was prepared and sold in the store but he was pretty well certain that his son would pass out if he saw all of the knives that the butchers used given his fear of sharp objects.
The boy shifted in place, not really liking the idea of leaving Jiang's side but to go with Kay would be alright and it was only long enough to get bread, "O-Okay."

Kay gave the rainbow haired man the thumbs up...with both hands. "Sweet! That'll be great!" An excited look was cast to Deimos when he giggled, that ever present and wide grin on his lips, brighter than ever. "Wow, You can laugh! I thought you didn't know how!" Still, there was not an ounce of malice or ill will in his voice, and he pat the black skinned boy on the shoulder. "Dunno why, but you're welcome!" Because really, why would one thank him for being a friend? That was just weird! They made it to the store and Kay looked around...suddenly, he was very hungry. At Jiang's suggestion, Kay perked up and offered his arm to the pink haired boy. He'd been clinging to Jiang, maybe he had trouble walking?
"I need bread too! C'mon Dei, it'll be fun!" Not waiting and not asking to use a nickname for him, he linked his arm with Deimos', turning and heading towards the bakery section of the grocery store. When they got there, he stared at the selection...and for the first time ever, felt a tiny bit intimidated.
"Whoooooa there's so many! How do we choose?!" Pouting, the Shaman looked from the bread to his friend, his head tilting. "I'd suggest rock paper scissors but bread doesn't have hands I think...so maybe eeny meeny miney mo?"
