Bright, unnaturally-wide and watery blue eyes peeked around a tree trunk, near-manic giggles erupting from the owner soon after. A petite blond mare hopped onto the trail, looking to be in a rather disheveled state. Of course, Alice didn't know or care what she looked like, rather high, head in the clouds. She was subconsciously humming a cheerful song that, with lyrics, would've been about a sparrow fighting a Kalona, but her conscious mind worked away absorbing the herb-distorted world.
Ah, her world. What a topic. This Wonderland she shared with Tulgey was forever-changing. Every day was a new adventure, though she walked the same ways. This way? A fox embracing a trout in the latter steps of a tango. That way? A path dark, yet alight with creatures she wouldn't have considered just several moons ago. Up? A literal ocean of clouds. Oh, if only the world were turned upside down like an hourglass, so she could embark on an oceanic journey. Down? Well, a tunnel shouldn't be too hard to dig! All of these dirt-beavers dancing around her had to be good for something. Some could be quick to title Alice as insane or delusional, but it was her choice to be so. And for all she knew, this wassthe real world. The herbs her personal cheshire provided opened her eyes to what others could not see and for this she adored him. What would she do without him?
'Oh!' Ahead. Yes, there. The big void, opening from a crowd of dancing trees. It was like a dead end to the maze that was the Wood, but it fascinated her... Sure, it could have very well been the deadest of dead ends, but it was spacious! And it was breathing! Like... Oh, the gut of a Jabberwock! The trees about it caved in and out, making it very organ-like. She fearlessly tread her way down the path, growing silent with the suspense. 'How curious... As if I've been in a tunnel of intestines this whole time and I'm just only moving down to the tummy of a ginormous beast!' At this another chortle of giggles rang out. 'How exciting!' The path wiggled beneath her feet, and she tried to stay on it, moving in a swerving pattern. Anyone watching who wasn't used to her ways would see her as if she were wounded and could not walk straight because of that. But no sir, she was just fine! 'If I fall from the path... I might fall just as easily from the very earth I walk! And then what shall happen to me?' On and on she walked, until her snout bumped into a trunk at the far end of the huge clearing she was walking towards just a few moments ago. 'Well, the time must've run towards me! Which would make this clearing a big clock!' To confirm this fact, she did another sloppy turn-about, bleary eyes blinking at a field green as any. "Well, what could have happened, then?!" She stomped a hoof, angry at the world for being wrong, failing to notice if there were any others present in the area.

A brute of a stallion wandered slowly around his little clearing, humming a little to himself to fend off the deafening silence that filled it. His eyes would dart this way and that now and then, making sure no one was coming at him, or to make sure he didn't step on any small critters, with Hal one could never really tell. His long bangs hung upon his face haphazardly, the orange stripes becoming mixed with the dark charcoal strands. He snorted, becoming increasingly bored with his current doings and turned around, his face nearly becoming very good friends with the side of a tree. He blinked and took a step back, a little disoriented. That tree wasn't that close a second ago, I'd swear it. He eyed the tree suspiciously and frowned. He flicked his tail and continued moving away from the edge of trees when something new caught his ear. He looked towards the clearing's entrance and stepped back, shoving his rump against the same tree he'd given the stink eye a moment before. Slowly but... awkwardly the source of the noise came forward. He pressed harder against the tree, hoping she wouldn't see him. Had he been able to hold his breath for an extended period of time, he would have. Unfortunately, breathing is not a habit one can generally give up. As she weaved forwards he sidled to the entrance, prepared to run if she were a threat. He heard a thump and saw her against a tree, So, I'm not the only one those pesky trees are after, he thought, with in inner sigh of relief. It was good to know they weren't only plotting against him. He watched as she turned around and tried to meld into the shadows, which one finds hard to accomplish when your chest and belly are bright white and your hair is streaked with a bright orange. He heard her exclaim and tilted his head. It was like catching the tail end of a conversation in passing, only a little more confusing as she'd not been conversing with anyone. "E-excuse me?"

A face came flying out of nowhere; Sharp fangs and long bangs suspended in mid-air. This sight was short-lived, as around the face features became more definite, though the figure was still fuzzy from her sudden whirl. "Tulgey?!" First uncertain, but then suddenly concerned was the wave her voice traveled upon. "Dear, Tulgey, you seem rather dark today! As if your hair'd just up and wilted! Perhaps you should take some of that medicine I receive for your own good!" Taking a moment for her head to stop spinning (though ultimately, this was impossible at this point), she gasped as the image cleared to its best: colorful, but soft outlines like a painting. This was the only way she perceived true shapes. Those coaxed into reality by Tulgey's medicine were, however, awfully vivid.
"You're not Tulgey." This was said as a closed-conversation statement to herself, rather than a friendly observation. And honestly, Alice was a bit upset. That tidbit of rage went a long way, once again shifting the world's appearance. It turned gloomy, suddenly. Frightening!
Without warning, Alice's bottom lip jutted out and her already-glassy eyes were washed over with tears that rested on the brims of her eyelids. "I've gotten lost..." It was as if the stallion in front of her disappeared altogether... Her entire field of vision was suddenly going dark. "H-how will I ever get back?!" The tears spilled over, making grayish streaks in her blank cheeks. She could feel and hear some forest around her, it's monotone figures of trees shifting with an unknown breeze. Creatures stirred there, making further noise until it was a horrid, continuous hum inside her ears. 'If only there was a path... Oh, if only...'
As if to answer her small prayer, two eyes appeared in the abyss. Bright orange, they beckoned her forward. 'Curious...' And she followed. "You must certainly be a cheshire..." And followed... And followed... Until she was muzzle-to-muzzle with the collared stallion she'd assumed was her dear Tulgey a fraction of a moment earlier. The presence of another - someone so resembling of her 'caretaker', no less - made her emotions switch gear once more, and the eyes were once more sketched around to form a face... Which connected to a neck... Which, naturally, connected to a body supported by four long, equine legs. The frown melted into a slightly disturbing smile, then went so far as to evolve into another song of laughter, "oh, cheshirepuss, how I'm glad you've come!"

Hal looked utterly confused, his mouth partly opened, and his brain yelling at him to get out of there as fast as he could but something in him compelled him to stay longer. Tulgey? Medicine? This mare was far from her mind. Very far. He snorted and kept a close eye on her. As he watched her mood changed as swiftly as rapids run, causing Hal to worry.
Her eyes glistened with tears and Hal bit his lip, "I-I'm not a Tulkey o-or whatever it was, but I am a Hal. And i-if you're lost, I know these woods a little, well, the parts near here at least. Mostly this clearing really," he paused to keep from further stumbling over words, "What I mean to say is, I could help you get un-lost?"
"I really don't know what a cheshire is, but if it'd make you feel better you can call me that," he took a small step forwards, "O-or Chesirepuss is fine too. I guess." He smiled, his lower fang jutting out at an odd angle. Best to not startle her further, who knows what kind of terrible, maiming things she's capable of.

Hal's mumbling went in one of Alice's dainty white ears and out the other. The only things that caught were 'I know these woods' and 'know what a cheshire is'. In Alice's mind, he was bragging about knowing the land while asking her whether she was aware of what a cheshire was. "Why, of course I know what a cheshire is! Especially when one is standing right up front of my nose!" She did not like this relative of Tulgey's. He was nothing like her Tulgey. And his very appearance was registered as no other than mean in her mind.
But, naturally, with Alice's mind a thought was as trifle a thing as an oak's leaf to an entire tree, and she was soon smiling at Hal once more. "Manners, you know, sir cheshire, require that you give me a name by which to call you! After all, you being the male of the situation and I being the girl, it is only right!" Crazy and high as she was, Alice was strict about manners all the same. It was an idea worked into her very fibers that an individual must be polite, even if said individual is pondering a way to skin you.
Blinking at him, Alice determined that the cheshire stallion was nervous about something. How strange. After all, were cheshires not the wisest of the forest's creatures? And could they not defeat any challenge? That is what she'd come to know from setting Tulgey apart from the other creatures she'd encountered. Still, she took it to heart as all creatures having one weakness or other.
Her eyes strayed to a vine that seemed to be creeping up her ankle. Funny, she couldn't feel it. But it was there! 'Go away...' Nasty thing. Minding not Hal's probable confusion and fright at her behavior, she proceeded in shaking off the vine. But it stuck, refusing to let go. She started stomping the hoof attached to said ankle, struggling with the growth her imagination conjured.

Hal's frown deepened as she spoke, it was as if she'd not grasped what he'd said at all. He still had no idea what a cheshire was, and had no idea if ALice wanted his help at all.
Her moodswings where just near giving him whiplash, "I-I told you, my name is Hal, but you can really call me whatever you want... I'm not really pickey," It seemed to him a strange thing for her to say durning all of this Cheshire business. Though manner were infact a good thing to have at all points in time.
He stared as her leg began twitching violently and looked down to see nothiong upon it. She was just stomping and shaking for seemingly no reason. Seems she's a little weirder than I thought.

Alice made a 'hmph!' noise, stomping her hoof now at Hal's speech. This action, surprisingly to Alice, made the vine petrify and crumble off. 'At least something good should come of your stupidity!' Face still arranged in that of an offended child, she addressed the 'Cheshirepuss', "well, sir, if you had told me your calling before, I should have very well known it, shouldn't I have? I'm not stupid, you know." Her eyes rolled and her ringlets danced with her shaking of her head disappointedly, "but very well, I shall forgive you. Sir Hal, I am called Alice." Manners, manners! She gave him a quaint little smile, crossing her two forelegs and curtsying as a young lady should. "Pleased to meet you!"
Formalities over with, she tilted her head, surveying Hal's appearance. "Pardon me, sir, but why should you have so big a collar? It must be mighty heavy and uncomfortable... Are you perhaps the evil queen's minion? Because then it would do me no good talking to you... No, not at all, and I doubt Tulgey'd have it happening...." At this point she was simply prattling on about meaningless things, back in her fantasy. Then again, she never completely left.

Hal attempted to take a step back from the unhappy female but was thwarted by the tree his butt was so firmly planted against, "I-I never meant to imply you were stupid, Miss Alice, y-you must have just missed my name, is all." He could have sworn this girl's mood changes where more likely to give him whiplash than Core's. "And a pleasure to meet you, my dear," he said with a bow of his head.
He watched her curiously as she looked him over. "It's really not that heavy. It just looks like it'd be cause of the bulk. The Evil Queen? N-no, I'm not anyone's minion actually... unless you count my mate," he smirked.

Alice stared. Trees didn't move, did they? Oh, of course they did. She rolled her eyes, though still keeping the tree behind Hal in her line of sight. She wasn't paying much attention to him anymore, and took his bumping into it as it bumping into him, most likely agreeing with Alice on his queerness. If so, it shouldn't leave her company, being polite as it was. Adjusting her voice to an appropriate pitch to the tree one Hal-length away, she shouted, "you there, stay right where you are!" As it was, she was shouting right into Hal's face.
Oh, but he said something! Eyes lighting up as if she hadn't just unleashed her brilliant vocal chords on him, Alice grinned up to the Cheshire, curiosity shining, "your mate, sir? Is she Cheshire as well? Or is she a queen? For you did say minion... Surely she must be in a position of power, how astounding!"

Hal flinched backwards, closing one eye, "Goodness, Miss Alice, I wasn't moving at all. No needs to shout into my face," he smiled sheepishly, afraid he would be yelled at again. He shook his head and blinked, watching her still. She was so odd but very fun to be around.
He tilted his head, spotting her very sudden change in mood, "She's not a Cheshire I don't think, though I'm still not clear on what one is. Nor is she a queen. She has a spot of power above me, one could say."
