Yeah. Ngaran Impressed.

.....

The Weyr's gonna have some problems with these two.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 16, 2010 2:28 pm

Name: N'ran. Formerly Ngaran
Age: 18 1/2 Turns
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Asexual.
Craft: Vintner.
Rank: Candidate and newly Journeyman. Jr. Weyrling

History: Growing up a regular holder and the son of two equally obstinate parents, N'ran had plenty of time to develop into what he is today. He was the only son of his parents and was given all the opportunities he needed to become a Vintner, since his father decided that it would be something good for him to try. N'ran displayed aptitude for the career as well, and he took to it like a fish to water. His life before that had been horribly average and really not much to speak about, though he'd definitely go on about all of the people he tormented through the Turns of his childhood. When he got to the Vintner Hall, N'ran soon accumulated a small number of cronies that he bossed around with all the alacrity of a military captain, quickly dominating a decent portion of the apprentices. He retired from his domineering business after he started taking more and more of an interest in the grapes and wines, and soon handed over the miniature empire to his closest ally. He walked the tables shortly before he was Searched, and he would up being found during a stroll through his grapes by a Blue that just wouldn't give up, no matter how much he refused to come. The dragon eventually convinced him that Weyr life would be just as much of an adventure as Vintner life, and so far, N'ran hasn't been disappointed.

Appearance: One of the first things you'll notice about N'ran is that he's big. Big as in tall, of course, and he's rather muscular for a Vintner. His hair is short, spiky, and dirty blond, with a few bright gold steaks here and there. Dark blue eyes glare out at pretty much anybody, and he's got somewhat of a square-shaped face. To put it bluntly, though, N'ran is built like a tank, solid and earthshaking. He doesn't have any scars or distinguishing marks, besides from a notch on the left side of his chin from a victim who decided to fight back.

Personality: N'ran is a bully, to put it simply. He's crude, rough, and rather mean, as well as horribly pigheaded. It's a wonder that he hasn't been strangled yet, as he's maddeningly infuriating to boot. N'ran is most assuredly not the guy you want to tell your troubles to or anything, as he'll belittle you and probably punch you in the face for speaking to him. That's not to say he's just completely a brute, though--N'ran is almost frightfully clever, though he turns it to less than pleasant purposes.
Though it may not seem like it, he does have some good qualities--N'ran is rather crafty and inventive, as well as quite good at making wines. He is at his best when he's at work amongst the grapes and wines themselves, and at his worst when he's been away from them for a while. He gets irritable when he hasn't gone to his grapes in a while, and will often snap until he gets a taste of something that reminds him of them, be it a fine wine or something else that is related to them.
He's got several flaws, one of the most obvious being his stubbornness. He refuses to change his mind once he's got it set, and no amount of kicking in the face will get him to change it. He can be horribly oblivious and often refuses to acknowledge things that go against his beliefs or ideas, and if you don't side with him in an argument, then by the Red Star, you're Sharding wrong. He's obstinate, and has made pestering people into a fine art form, something that he prides himself on. N'ran is also a very proud and arrogant guy, and has an ego the size of the Western Continent.
If caught in the right mood, however, N'ran can be quite personable, and he knows when to turn on the charm to get what he wants. He can be a smooth operator when necessary, though he prefers to use brute force to get his way. Just think of him as a smiling axe--decent when he's at rest, vicious when he's at work.

BLUE CAVUMUTH

User Image
Cavumuth was coloured by Kaelyndra

Personality

There's a man-eating feline behind you. No, really! - That's the kind of lie that Cavumuth will resort to using to escape with the trinket he just stole from your weyr.

As he gets older, his lies will get better, but in the mean time, he'll just have to rely on his stealth. For a large blue, Cavumuth has a surprising amount of it. He knows how to set his feet just right so his claws don't click against the floor, and he disappears in a crowd faster than you can say, "Where'd he go?"

Don't wonder how Cavumuth puts this talent to use for the good of society - he doesn't. Life is all about He and His, and if Cavumuth wants that, Cavumuth will get it. His first tactic is to try and con it out of you with sly words and lots of 'looking cute'. If that doesn't work, he'll just take it right from under your nose. Catch him and he has a series of lies to cover himself. In fact, Cavumuth makes a hobby of creating false histories and lies. He has an abundance of fake names stored in his head, and you can bet that he'll be ready for any situation that comes along. Er. . . well, hopefully.

And best of all Cavumuth has no problem with authority. Following orders is no big deal, but while he's running that errand, do you want him to snoop on that troublesome bronzerider while he does? He's more than willing to use his stealth to spy on someone and trade that information for something that would benefit him or His.

Heck, he'll even fly a green if it comes down to getting something he wants. In fact, Cavumuth frequently uses Flights to piss of people he doesn't like. He uses tricks instead of skill to win his Flight matches, and he'll only take to the air when someone he dislikes is also in the chase. He might also fly a green if His wants him to. Maybe. The green's rider might find their shoes mysteriously missing after.

Cavumuth will also have huge problems with the Healer that the newly Impressed are assigned (or Healers in general). He greatly dislikes this bunch with all their poking and prodding and asking questions. He won't ever hurt them, but he will often growl and snap his teeth in agitation. Healers, especially mind-healers, stay away!

Views on Clutchmates

Eh. . . what? Cavumuth doesn't really care about his clutchmates unless they have something for him. In fact, he prefers to avoid them whenever possible.

This is especially true of Tatleth, who Cavumuth cannot stand. He may go as far as growling when this dragon comes in range even though Cavumuth generally tries to avoid confrontation.

Why Me?

Cavumuth is not as clever as he'd like, but Ngaran is more than clever enough for the both of them. In addition, Ngaran clearly knows how to throw his weight around. Cavumuth is little for a blue, and needs all the protection he can get from everyone and everything - especially healers. With all the trouble Cavumuth is bound to get into, a strong body guard like Ngaran is an absolute necessity.

Paired together, the Weyr better watch their things and their backs. Cavumuth will get whatever Ngaran needs, and Ngaran has the ego and the brains to help Cavumuth get away with it.

Their combined and well-crafted skills do not make them completely invinsible, however, and where Ngaran's ego may get them into trouble, it's his dragon's cowardice that will shine through. Cavumuth will help Ngaran learn to back down from fights that aren't worthwhile. Certain scuffles just aren't worth winning - you get more bruises than you get things. Cavumuth is more inclined to flee these situations, and he's going to take His with him.

Cavumuth is colored based off of the . . .

Blue Jay

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Blue Jay has a very large range covering the part Midwest of America to the East Coast and spread up into Canada. It is their aggression and ability to adapt that allows them to inhabit such a wide range of habitats and they continue to expand to other parts of the continent on a day to day basis.

It is a moderately slow flier, but it makes up for this will it's ability to chase away larger prey birds and its loud voice which often warns of predators. In addition, it's higher intelligence helps it steal food from other species. The Jay is also said to steal a wide variety of other things - including whole nests.
