-Polaris had.. pretty much melted into her seat after the double triple insult that had been thrown upon her. Having her idea, that she worked REALLY long and hard on, trashed by Astraea was painful. Having it done.. in front of ALL of her peers was beyond embarassing. But the fact that that other senshi had shot down her idea too... when it totally wasn't her business and she hadn't been asked! It'd all been too much.
The senshi of magnetism had slunk down into her seat, listening to the rest of the questions and lectures with the hints of a pout on her face. Zodiacs explained, cavaliers, and starseeds. Check and check.
It was important stuff, some things she'd heard before, but to a lesser extent. Some things were brand new. The list of deaths however and the thundering words of the woman in white had been enough to rouse her far enough out of her self pity to pay attention.
Each time 'she' spoke Polaris could feel hear heart beating in her ears. There was something about the passion.. the drive. This Cavalier.. she wasn't like a lot of the senshi Polaris had met along the way. She was a warrior. She had a mission more concrete then milling around and killing the occassional youma. Perhaps that was why, as the meeting dispersed, she found her booted feet carrying her quickly down the bleacher stairs, trying to make it to the Cavalier before she could disapear into the night.
She'd already screwed up, and she didn't want to do it again... even if it meant making a fool out of herself now.- "Cavalier Kunzite." -She called out when she drew near enough to hopefully be heard.-

For a moment the Cavalier didn't respond, but then she turned her head with a face that made it clear how surprised she was that anyone was calling her by name. She blinked at Polaris; do I know you? was evident on her face, followed by are you sure I don't know you? and are you absolutely sure I don't know you? But she didn't. The dark-haired girl was as unfamiliar to her as any other stranger on the street.
She was a girl, that much was obvious -- right around Polaris's age. It felt like nearly all of them were. She stepped aside from the streaming crowd of people and blinked at Polaris again, her weapon stowed. "Can I help you?" said Kunzite.

-Upon getting close Polaris too found a vague sense of deja vu, only strengthened by the.. slightly awkward way in which she was being stared at. The thought was pushed aside however, perhaps it was like meeting the princess.. certainly she'd have a feeling of familiarity when the time finally came.. when their princess was finally found.
Besides, there was serious business to be had. Or something.
Joining Kunzite out of the general flow of traffic she offered a sheepish smile, offering a warning that she somehow hoped would cut the potential awkwardness.- "This is going to sound very stupid..."
"I.. want to do everything I can for the Princess. For everyone"
"I have the drive, the desire.. I just.." -She was stalling, not wanting to let the words fall from her lips. Her voice lowered, hopefully only a few walking by would hear.
She swallowed, before spitting it out, just as clumsily as she was afraid she might.- "I don't really know how to kill things..." -Things was easier to say then people...- "I mean youma turn to dust after enough hits but.. we don't have weapons and..." -Her voice drawled off, suddenly finding it very hard to look at the cavalier.-

For a while Kunzite just stared at her. She had good eyes for staring: they were big, round, and creepily pale. Her staring was fairly unreadable and a bit unsettling, and tended to go on long enough to make one wonder if she spoke English or just thought whatever you just said was unbelievably stupid. But stare she did, with her arms crossed over her chest. A few senshi trickled by -- she exchanged a glance with Sailor Proxima, exchanged much less of a glance with Sailor Aries, and very pointedly did not exchange a glance with Sailor Castor. Otherwise she just stared.
Eventually she said, "Do you know of any place where we can talk," she shifted on her feet and glanced down briefly, "without being interrupted?"

-To say that the... blank stare into her soul wasn't unnerving would be to lie. In fact the senshi's fingers fidget together as she waited for something.. anything in response. The cavalier was silent for so long.... her eyes just... looking. Polaris braced herself for the worst.
Angry shouts, laughter and taunting, a sigh and complete dismissal of her, hell.. even a run through with that sword. Astraea/Luna HAD given her permission to stab people...
So when all she received was a question, she almost felt herself jumping for joy. Oh thank goodness Kunzite was so understanding! So kind! Well.. as kind as someone could be who was totally capable of cutting your head off with the flip of a wrist.
Her lips pursed as she thought to herself, silent for mere seconds before she answered in the form of a question.- "Umm.. My dorm room?"
-It didn't really seem as if there was a point in keeping her identity secret from an ally. Surely anyone Astraea had let it was safe enough. Nodding a little as if to confirm to herself that 'YES this was an okay idea', ivory braids bobbing, she added lightly.- "I don't have a dorm mate yet, so we shouldn't have to worry about anyone."

With that Cavalier Kunzite melted away and Polaris was left staring at a girl of seventeen in a Crystal uniform. She looked -- prim. Put-together, white socks folded over, wavy dark hair pinned back a bit delicately. She didn't look like a person who would slam her fist down on tables. She didn't look like a soldier. She looked like a Crystal girl, run-of-the-mill, maybe a little tall, but that was it. With her sword and her dress whites gone, much of the intimidation had as well.
"Let's walk, then," she said brusquely, and looked to her pointedly for some direction as to where they were going. "I'm Miriam Jacobs. You go to Crystal too?"

- Oh s**t.
It was not a statement that often left the girl's mouth. Even in her head she tried to keep such vulgarities dumbed down in her attempts to be proper. But her face read it as clearly as if she'd screamed it as suddenly the white knight disappeared leaving not just a girl, but a girl who she KNEW and who had terrified the bejesus out of her barely a month ago.
Realizing of course, how retarded she probably looked, and how much offense was probably being taken from the look, Polaris rubbed her cheek mildly, before smiling.- "We've met actually."
-A snap of glitter and ribbons gave way another girl, probably familar, also decked out in the traditional Crystal Academy wardrobe.-
"Aurora Namid. What a small world huh?" -She added politely. Atleast Miriam looked less like hell than she had last time they'd seen each other. God don't let this be awkward...
They certainly weren't friends or anything. But they WERE allies now. Surely that was enough to hopefully keep them civil with each other. After all, she had agreed to help.. well kind of.-
"I live on the third floor." -She gave another soft sheepish smile.-

Miriam's mouth formed an O when she saw Aurora and she stared at her, a bit frozen. She did look considerably less like hell: her color was back to a normal human hue, albeit with her usual pallor, and she wasn't limping. A cast encircled no part of her body. Now, come to think of it, the other girl's injuries made a lot more sense -- her words from the meeting echoed. Her once-betrayal had cost her the ability to heal like senshi. The wreck Aurora had seen over Christmas was probably a consequence of that.
"You saw me after I killed Sailor Nova," she stated. There was nothing to dispute about that. "Now you know."
She turned and walked in the direction they both knew was Crystal Academy, briskly. The silence settled in again and turned to stone. Astraea had called the knight he on more than one occasion. This was definitely a she, and walked like a she. The entire situation was very peculiar. Miriam certainly wasn't talking about it, or anything else for the moment -- her silence was offputting, but it was becoming increasingly clear that, instead of stonewalling out any conversation, the Cavalier honestly didn't know what to say.

-Atleast she wasn't the only one apparently startled by the concidence.. that in and of itself was a mild comfort. A comfort she clung to gratefully as they walked and.. less comfortable things occured.
Aurora could only blink as the admission seemed to fall out of her mouth, hand drawing subconciously, protectively towards her chest. She had killed a senshi? Dead...?
Polaris knew what had happened to Nova... so after the intial shock.. she was able to 'slightly' sooth her worries. Nova had been corrupted. Kunzite.. Miriam.. she'd killed her. But it was after she'd turned bad. Nova hadn't been one of 'them' anymore.. Still... Her stomach churned.. This was exactly why she'd been prompted to bother the elder girl after all.
Picking up the pace once her legs finally allowed her to move again she found pace behind the other girl, just a step or two behind, silent for a long while. But as the air grew heavier she found it hard not to say something. She managed to keep back the stupid questions... what classes do you have... are you from destiny city.. No.. something of a little more substance, whether the other girl wanted the comfort behind it or not.- "If I were corrupted... I'd want someone to stop me too"
-It wasn't even that far off a thought... she still shuddered to think of the feeling of Lt Rohandite's hand within her chest...-

Miriam folded her arms over her chest and hunched a little like she was cold. Perhaps she was cold. She kept walking and after a while, she still wasn't out of breath. She probably had fencing to credit for that. That was the one thing she was known for at Crystal, fencing: that and being standoffish. Well, standoffish was a nice word. Bitchy was the common one. Standoffish seemed more accurate so far, though it was hard to say -- perhaps awkward was the real winner here.
"You do now," she said eventually. "You wouldn't then. I didn't."
More silence. There was a lot of that walking with Miriam.
"So you've been in battle before?" she abruptly changed the subject, hands tucked under her arms.

-Luckily for Aurora, between years of dancing, and her usual power walk of doom to get anywhere she wasn't struggling as much as a shorter and perhaps less active girl might have behind the stride of the other girl. It wasn't particularly comfortable, but she wasn't lagging which was good.
Her comfort was pushed away mildly and she was smart enough not to attempt to fight it. It was true.. if corrupted, her mind taken over by something else it would certainly APPEAR she wanted to be that way. But she knew, knew her soul would be crying out underneath it all, crying out against doing the horrible things that would be forced onto her. Aurora was a sappy girl. But luckily she kept that sap to herself, finding no need to offend Miriam when she already seemed sorry for the past.. in search of redemption.
The question was a welcome distraction to the statement and silence, eyes widening as a thankful grin crossed her face.- "A dozen or more yes. Mostly youma, but a few Lieutenants as well."
"I'd always considered it a win if I ran off the Lieutenants before they could hurt anyone but.. obviously that's going to have to change now." -She also failed to mention the a** whoopings she'd recieved from Serandite and Rhodizite and how it'd been pure lucky saving her. Not without prompting atleast.-

"It's not a loss." Miriam walked on at her own pace, probably more cluelessly than inconsiderately. She didn't seem like a person who was used to the company of other people, on walks or elsewhere. "But I'm not sure I'd call it a win, either." She made a face, like she'd just been forced to say something very hokey, and fell silent again. It was cold outside -- definitely a little too cold to be wearing what Miriam was wearing, which consisted of only a long-sleeved blouse and stockings in addition to the usual, scant Crystal uniform -- but she strolled on without shivering. A few times she looked like she might be in danger of doing so, but she wrinkled her nose and kept very determinedly still.
They neared the pristine walls of Crystal Academy. Miriam fumbled for her wallet. They'd been quiet for another few minutes now, possibly even more; the silent minutes stretched on and a little infinite-seeming between them. They the wallet just as they stopped in front of the side door that was the fastest way to the dormitories and Miriam fished out her ID card, scanned it on the card-reader, and pulled open the unlocked door -- and held it open promptly for Aurora.
"After you," she said. "I don't know that there's a lot I can tell you, to be honest, but I can try."

-Really.. if she had taken the time to THINK about it Aurora might have realized how hard her question was going to be to answer. The white knight after all.. was just a school girl as well. What right did Aurora have to assume she'd have some magical assassin skills that she could easily pass down? Or a rolladex of 350 ways to kill someone with your bare (or almost bare) hands?
This thought perked momentarily in her mind as Miriam's words sounded, sliding in through the familar doorway.
Motioning softly, as she took to the lead for once, speaking as she tried to be.. pleasant... polite..? Well something other than awkward, which was a stretch given the situation and Aurora's general social skills.- "Well.. once we are in my room, I can ask question, and if they're dumb you can just say so" -She hoped she wouldn't..-
"I'll try not to keep you long. Goodness knows we already lack proper sleep" -The hallways stretched, uniform and pristine, and Aurora stopped in front of one of the many doors, fussing for the lock for a short moment, before the door popped open and the a soft light flooded the room.
It was fairly bare and open, clean, with minimalist decor, most items resigning themselves simply to usefulness. The only real clue the room belonged to a girl was the jewelry littered vanity mirror and the canopy bed that filled the corner of the room, complete with a giant fluffy seal stuffed animal.
Good thing it was fairly late at night.. some might have wondered why Aurora was ushering Miriam so quickly into her room. The tales catty girls tell rarely sided on the side of fair or wholesome.-

As they walked in Miriam cast a glance around her room. She looked interested, and a little wide-eyed, though when didn't she look wide-eyed, really? Her eyes were possibly naturally wide. Or she was just making that face all the time. "I'm used to it," she said delicately with a slightly wrinkled nose. "I take all the credit hours I can so I can transfer my AP hours into college -- college costs even more money, after all. Some people here don't have money growing on trees." At this she shot a defensive sideways look at Aurora, like Aurora was going to say something to her.
She didn't sit down, or ask if she could sit down: rather, she stood squarely in the center of the room with her arms over her chest, looking like she was trying to make a point of some kind. A very nebulous point.
"So," she broke the silence. "Show me what you can do."

-She did say something in fact, nodding in soft approval.- "That's impressive" -It was geniune.. but did it really matter coming from someone in which money DID grow off of trees (well.. ranch animals technically.. but close enough). Aurora hadn't missed however the drive that certain people had that she lacked. Her father didn't make her work part time.. so she didn't. Others had plans and goals they were striving for she was.. planning on going to school until she met the man that swooped her back off into the world of housework. Pathetic perhaps.
At the sudden change in topic she was thankful, but it didn't stop the rather stupid look that formed on her face.- "My uhh.. power?"
"If I do it in here it's going to make a serious mess.. not to mention cause a bit of a racket.." -Nonetheless she was eyeing the room, trying to make an inventory in her head of the things that would take flight. The sink.. the mini fridge.. the bed she hoped would stay put. But her jewelry, pens, some photo frames.. perhaps even that stupid metal sculpture she'd bought on the day she ran into Poison again.. all those things would surely take to the air.- "Maybe I can tone down the power level?" -She didn't know that she could.. but considering times of stress had strengthed it... she could hope right?
Her fingers fidgeted with the pen, revealing once more an outfit rimmed in fur and see through fabric.- "If I'm going to do this.. watch out okay. Even I tend to get hit by it sometimes"
