My attempt a making one of these little games: REVISED, BUT STILL INCOMPLETEQuote: NMH Mafia - REVISED v1.1 Town - (Residents of Santa Destroy) -------- Travis - (Bestie & conditional Vigilante) - Will assume power to kill once a night if Bishop has been killed. Bishop - (Bestie) Knows who Travis is and Travis knows who he is. Thunder Ryu - (Doctor) - Travis' mentor. Can protect someone once per day Naomi - (Mad Scientist) - A genius inventor. Can build useful devices, but often doesn't care enough to remember what they actually do... Her machines will randomly Investigate, Roleblock, Protect, or Kill her target. Lovikov - (Weegee Board) - A man with valuable memories, but also a heavy drinker. Can answer three yes or no questions a day. Two will be true, one will be drunken bullshit. HOWEVER, there are some days when Lovikov will drink heavier than normal. On these days, he will have two false memories and only one true one. Sakai - (Cop) - manages the Job Center. Can use the resources at his disposal to Investigate one person a day. Jeane - (Roleblock) - Travis' cat. Can show up in unexpected places to distract someone from what they are doing Mafia - (UAA) -------- Dark Star - (mob boss) - The #1 ranked assassin. Responsible for sending in the orders for Assassinations. Sylvia - (Spy) - A mysterious and very attractive woman. Will appear as a Townie if investigated, because a woman this sexy can't possibly be capable of anything suspicious, right?... Harvey Moiseiwitsch Volodarskii - (Lucky Duck) - Magician. Can use his power to survive an attempt on his life. Destroyman - (Voteblocker) - Mailman by day, assassin by night. Can use his position in the Postal Service to tamper with votes as they are mailed in. Holly Summers - (Bomb) - A supermodel with a prosthetic leg and an affinity for explosives. Will use one of her grenades to kill her attacker upon her death. Neutural -------- Henry - (serial) - A mysterious man. Doesn't care about Santa Destroy or the UAA. Will kill once a day. Note: Obviously still a work in progress.

I dunno too much about NMH so I wouldn't know the basic conflict or anything, but I think it might have a few too many roles for the average person to wrap their head around. You might wanna leave out 3 or 4 roles per game.

Well, the story behind NMH is that Travis bought a beam katana off the internet and then decided to go fight people for money. He meets Sylvia in a bar after killing the #11 assassin, she convinces him to try and become the #1 ranked assassin.

sounds like he'd be more of a serial killer.

The assassins (not Travis) are the Mafia. Travis isn't evil enough to be the serial killer. He has a counterpart that he meets halfway through the game (Henry), who has little background information given on him. He kills the guy Travis was supposed to kill, exchanges a few words with him, then bolts off.

Harusame Mizukishi following are roles that either: A) I couldn't decide which team to put on, or B) have abilities I'm not sure would work in a game Sylvia (side) - Mysterious and sexy woman. Can distract one person from using their role Usually a town role but can go either wayBishop (ability) - Travis' best friend and owner of a video store. If killed, the attack will be caught on tape and the footage will be mailed to Travis. This would have to be town and would only work for the serial killerThunder Ryu (ability) - Travis' ghostly mentor. Can answer questions from beyond the grave. Seems to have no actual application for the game, might be best to leave this one out.Keita Sakai (ability) - Runs the Job Center. Can alter a vote. (town side) If this is town side then Sylvia is mafiaLovikov (ability) - Has valuable memories of the Assassins, but is also a drunk. Some memories are true, others are just drunken gibberish. Seems to have no workable application for the game, might be better to leave this out as well.Weller (ability and side) - Cleanup expert. Can remove all traces of a killing, including identity of the victim. I would have to say this is a town role, since it would break the game on mafia side, but it would only benefit Travis.Mask de Uh (ability and side) - Clothing shop owner. Can disguise himself or someone else to hide their identity. Could go either way. Bolded my suggestions

Ryu and Lovikov sound like two sides of the same coin. Were you going for a Reporter type role?

I also forgot to mention that I just took the characters and tried to find a role that would be appropriate for that character. The three ideas I had for the mafia were really the only ones that I came up with, because when I wrote these I had little knowledge of Mafia and its roles.
@Huntr: Destroyman and Sakai were meant to be counterparts, each nulling out a vote. Sylvia would null out a role. I wasn't sure what side the role blocker was normally on.
@LPS: I seem to remember one mafia game having two roles that would state something about the roles of one of the players. Except one person would be telling the truth, while the other thought he was telling the truth. What I'm getting at is Ryu would be the truthful one and Lovikov would be the BS-er

Or alternatively, I could make Ryu the Weegee and come up with something else for Lovikov.

Except generally you don't tell them which seer they are, so giving them different character names might be a hitch.
The sticky Basics of a Mafia Game has basic role rundowns and game mechanics, if you feel you need to brush up.

Yeah, I thought about that too. That why I was thinking about telling the player they were either/or, or just coming up with different roles for them entirely. Like making Ryu the Weegee person and maybe breaking Lovikov into two roles; one sober and one drunk.

Or maybe Lovikov has a pattern. Sober, sober, drunk, sober, sober, drunk, etc. We could change the pattern up each time so they didn't know when they were wrong, and it would be a way to keep the seer guessing, but not too crippling 'cause once they figured their pattern out they'd know.

Changed the tag to incomplete because I'm revising some of the roles.
