Surprisingly, Death's house is very small and modest. It's only one story and it's not at all lavish. The inside is very messy with clothing everywhere and papers littering the floor. However, Death rarely uses his home besides for storage and he only occasionally sleeps there. Usually, Death is found sleeping in odd location around town, and sometimes in the wilderness.

A bang could be heard from behind the walls of the house followed by some ruffling. The doorknob turned and Death revealed himself, standing inside his messy home. "Good morning," he greeted. "What day is today? Oh, it's you. Wanna come in?" The mess probably deterred Kenji a bit, but such an invitation was hard to pass up. "You're lucky, I just cleaned yesterday." Not knowing Death, one would think this a terrible lie; knowing him, they know it's the truth.

Closing the door behind Kenji, Death began searching for somewhere to sit. Listening to the genin as he searched, Death came across a large pile of clothing. "Here we are!" With a shove, the clothing toppled over and revealed a chair that had been buried beneath. "I found a chair for you, I hope it's comfortable." As for Death, he didn't need a seat. Since he had no sensation of touch, he could not feel the comfort of sitting down and resting after a hard day's work. No relief came to him but also no muscular fatigue. This was good for long fights, but he would ultimately overwork his muscles and occasionally damage them. Death remained standing and remembered why he wished to speak with this citizen.

"You're a good fighter, ya know. Lot's of strategy and clever use of your abilities. I can tell when a certain ninja will be great, and I see that in you." Death smiled and looked over at a window. The sun was shining in, filling the cluttered room with light. A bird flew by and reminded Death of another thing. "I'm glad you met Haruko already. She's also very promising, similar to you but in her own way." Turning back to face Kenji, Death suggested, "I think you two should work together occasionally, try and push each other to excel for greatness. I'd also be willing to spar whenever you want; I'd love to teach you, or Haruko, what I've learned over the years." There was a pause, Death not knowing what exactly to say next. He picked something simple, "Any questions?"

This was a good question; Death thought about what types of things he like Kenji to do. He began, "You could do a couple things: there's construction going on that you might want to help out with, you could teach new students the ropes and help them get started, or you could simply become more acquainted with the town and its people. I also have a few mission I could send you on if you do well around town." Death thought he had offered enough options to last Kenji for quite a while, probably for about a month or so.

Again, Death smiled and paused. It was time to hear Kenji's thoughts, so Death asked, "What do you think? Sounds good?"

Death smiled as he stepped towards the door. He said, "That's all I think I need to tell you right now. I would like to talk with you again, but with Haruko next time. Do you think you could stop by after the Chuunin Exams?" Death knew that would be a while from the time now, but it wasn't more than a month away. By that time, Death was sure they'd both have proven themselves as worthy ninja of the village; they would most likely become chuunin, too.

((I hope it's OK that I'm delaying our second meeting a bit. The second half of the exam will be starting very soon, though.))

Death returned to his house, the Chuunin Exams now finished and the village in a short time of peace and celebration for the shinobi who had passed the test. While the town was openly gleeful, Death's mood was merely half and half; both pleased and sullen, which was relatively upset for him. It was not that he was displeased with the results of the test, that was the part which actually uplifted him now, but the reality of certain inevitable events pulled upon his soul and wore him down.

Fortunately, today was the day that Death would meet again with two of his loyal shinobi to discuss and prepare for the impending doom which worried Death’s very soul. Today, the entire purpose of the village, the truth behind its creation, would be revealed. It was a secret only for one small reason, but that would be known soon enough.

Stepping into his home, Death left the door wide open, ready for his visitors to appear. He proceeded to clear things off from chairs so that the three would have places to sit comfortably. As he cleaned up, Death stumbled across his Anbu mask; it had red and black paint on it and a large, intimidating grin from cheek to cheek, a strange feature for these types of masks.

A smile returned to his face and Death began to wonder about the possibility of Anbu within this new village. No one was yet prepared for such a title, but that didn't stop Death's imagination from wandering about. He began thinking about the possibility of using masks for all international missions, even for those not yet Anbu. Death wasn't sure though, he would have to ask his guests for their opinions when they showed up.

Soryuu Kenji
Nameless Village | Nature's Guard | Chuunin

After the announcement of the village's new Chuunin, Kenji could only smile as he heard that every member of Team 7 had become Chuunin. He had not had doubts about any of them, and was sure that this was bound to happen, though he was somewhat disappointed that their group might be broken up. As he was on his way out to go meet up with them, he was stopped by a bird which descended on his with a strip of red paper wrapped on it's leg. Understanding that this was a summon to meet death, Kenji put all other thoughts aside as he quickly leapt up to the rooftops of the adjoining buildings and raced to Death's house.

Arriving in no time at all, Kenji jumped down to the streets, arriving at Death's house to see the door already open. "Let's hope this is a sign of his airing the place out..." Stepping forward cautiously into the house, he found that it was not as unpleasant as he had remembered it and smiled as he saw Haruko had already arrived. "Ah, so Haruko was summoned as well? Excellent! ... and congratulations Haruko, I only wish I could have been able to see your fight. I heard you did a rather fine job. So Death-sensei... what's going on?"

Soryuu Kenji

Holding his snickering to himself, Kenji opted to continue standing, closing the door behind him as he figured what was said was for himself and Haruko only, since apparently, no others had been summoned. Leaning back and up against the door , Kenji crossed his arms in front of him as he waited for Death to continue, "No thanks, I'll just stand if that's okay with you Death-sensei... Somehow, I think I can still find the energy after that grueling fight."

With his almost prerequisite sarcasm out of the way, Kenji listened to death's question, wondering why he would start this conversation with such a question. "All I know about this village is what I've been told since I arrived, and it's still relatively young from what I hear. I tried to find some records of this place's history, but all I could locate was some vague reference to an enemy which completely wiped out the previous 'Village Hidden in the Towns', and that this village was raised from its ashes. There weren't many survivors, but there were enough to rebuild and carry on the village under the new name, which happens to be its current one."
