Winning Story

Today was honestly not the best for Gwee the Dragon. Somehow, he’d managed to lose his best friend, Flutter, also a fellow dragon, but they came from different species of course. Gwee replayed the day’s happenings in his head over again, wondering how such a perfect day had gone wrong. Well, they’d been flying around in the forest just as they did normally. The flowers were blossoming and the trees were regaining their natural green color as Spring took away the chill of Winter. After their short fly, they’d gone to the Marketplace in search of anything new or possibly shiny. Again, something they did on a daily basis. Gwee had turned around to show Flutter something particularly eye-catching and suddenly, she was gone!
Gwee hung his head as he moved slowly through the crowd of varying dragons and other woodland creatures. Oh, how could I let this happen! Flutter could be lost, scared, and alone somewhere! How will I ever find her in this crowd!? The sound of flapping wings near him made Gwee look up. Gwee’s eyes became amazingly larger as he stared at the large Supernova Dragon in front of him. This species of dragon happened to be the largest, most beautiful, and the deadliest, not to mention that they seemed to be completely made out of crystals.
“What’s wrong?” it rumbled, seeing Gwee’s distraught expression.
Gwee sniffled before answering, “I lost my friend, Flutter. She’s just a small Radiant Dragon and I can’t find her in the crowd.”
The Supernova Dragon whacked it’s tail on the ground and turned from side to side, probably taking a small glance around to see if it could spot Flutter. “Is that your friend over there?” it asked.
Gwee strained his neck to see where the Supernova Dragon was looking at spotted Flutter amongst the crowd, looking frantically around. Gwee thanked the Supernova and quickly made his way over to Flutter. Flutter smiled, relieved that her best friend wasn’t hurt or missing.
“I turned around for one second and then you were gone!” Gwee complained as they headed off, back to home.
Flutter looked at the ground sheepishly, “I saw something shiny in that tree, and I wanted to check it out!”
Gwee sighed, "Well at least it's not Winter, or I would have been running around thinking you'd been snowed down."
Flutter grinned again. "Hooray for Spring!"
