It was a constant joke, one based from truth that always seemed to make his mother and brother give a small laugh with meaningful smiles, “A mother always remembers her child’s first word, but I was hoping it would be more along the lines of ‘momma’ instead of ‘why’”. Yes, it is true that Wystan’s first word out of the basket was ‘why’, but Wystan could not help it, for it was in his nature. There were just so many questions he wanted to find the answers to, but usually the adults just laughed or said “Aw, isn’t he cute? He acts all grown up asking questions far beyond his years.” Seriously? Is it that hard to answer questions that will come in great use in the future? It’s not like I was asking about the birds and the bees, whatever that means… But of course, adults just have a funny way of seeing things.

The little foal stopped his eternal nonstop questionnaire and looked around him, he was near a vast body of water which mother told him was a lake. Green trees were on the outside ring of the lake, casting shadows only ten feet out in the crystal blue water. In the center of the lake, far from the shadows of the ring of trees, a tiny sandbar island with a single tree was placed. A tall tree that had fallen connected the ring of land to the sandy beach in the center.

Isabliss had let him and Alistair wander around today, but Alistair wanted to stay near mother; Wystan left them in a cloud of dust to go and learn new things, sadly, he had not come across any other Soquili. His heart sank, was there no one to ask? He continued to stare at the island and knowing that he will find a Soquili who he would constantly ask questions of, until his mother gives the call to return when the moon is high in the sky.
