Guinevere Orifiel liked to look proper. She also liked helping other people look proper. So when she heard Kemuri was going out to buy jackets, she tagged along.
Guinevere took buying clothing very seriously. She was the kind of girl that needed to find the best clothes at the best deals or die trying. Shopping with her was a bit scary at times, because she shopped like she had a mission, and she left no survivors in her wake.
She held a jacket up against his chest. "Not a good colour," decided the younger Herald, discarding it. "We need something that brings out your eyes." Picking up another one, she glanced at the price tag, exclaiming, "Twenty thousand gold for this? I don't think so." She reached for Kemuri's hand and dragged him to the next clothing store.
It had been a long day for her friend.

Kemuri, not really caring for what he wore, always settled for hand-me-downs from Lily's dad. His guardian would take a shirt from her dad's closet, wear it and if it fit her, he's allow her to wear it. Little did he know that she gave it to Kemuri to wear. He never looked his best compared to the herald girl whom he'd known since she was a kid. She always looked her best no matter where they went and when they went. At least, that's what Kemuri thought.
Being dragged around while she plastered jacket after jacket on his chest made him feel like a kid and she was a mom. Except she never let him try on any of the jackets and even if he liked it, she wouldn't let him get it. "It's really alright if we don't find the jacket." He said as he was pulled along by the hand. It was sort of sad for the jackets that have been deemed unworthy of being worn because of the fact that 'they didn't match his eyes'.
It felt like this day would go on until she had found the perfect jacket. or the end of time... whichever came first.

Guinevere looked back at Kemuri and smiled at him. "It's kind of you to say that," she replied, patting his shoulder. "Don't worry though, I'm a firm believer in never saying 'die'!"
Lucky, lucky Kemuri. "Anyway, there are seventeen clothing stores in the area, I'm sure that one of them will have something suitable." And with that, she dragged him to the next store, pressing a jacket up against his chest almost as soon as they stepped in the door. "How about this one, Kemumu?" Kemuri was practically like an older brother to Guinevere, and thus one of the only people she used silly nicknames with. "I haven't seen you in months, you've gotten taller." She squinted her eyes at his face for a moment, then added, "You need a haircut, too."
The trip had just gotten a whole lot longer.

He didn't know whether to feel good or bad that she smiled. Did it mean she was going to find a jacket no matter what or stay happy no matter which jacket they got. Women. They were confusing.
"se-seventeen?" He asked meekly. He remembered shopping with Lily and how she could spend an hour inside a single store and not find a single thing that fit or looked nice. As she asked a question into the air of 'how about this one' he knew not to answer with what he though of it but rather move his arms away from himself if she decided to pin it against his chest. If he answered, she'd find some fault in it and voila! you have a conflict.
When she had made mention of his hair, he didn't notice it. Since before he could remember, he had kept it at a length between a style too short for a girl and too long for a guy. He was going to say that he didn't need a cut, but he didn't want to make Guin angry when she had her mind set on something. A teeny tiny quarter inch or half inch off the ends wouldn't be bad, right?

"Well, counting the ones in Durem," she admitted grudgingly. "If we have to go to Durem, we'll take my bike." Durem was fifteen minutes away by bus. By bike it was about half an hour, but if two people were on the bike it could take well over an hour to get there.
She frowned at the jacket she was holding and shook her head. "Now that I think about it, the sleeves are sort of tacky." Carelessly discarding it, she marched over to a different pile of jackets and pulled another one out, pinning it against his chest almost as quickly as she had removed the first. "What do you think of this?"
It was then that she realized he hadn't been answering for the past twelve jackets, and she paused, looking up at him with a concerned frown. "Are you still having fun, Kemu?" she asked petulantly, jacket still pressed up against him.

"Well, i'm sure we can find something here, right? Seventeen stores is quite a bit." He said with a weak smile. With his fingers still playing with the ends of his hair, he prepared for more jackets being pressed against his chest. "and durem is really far from here..." he muttered under his breath. He wasn't one for biking and he didn't think he'd come out alive after 17 stores.
He followed her to the next pile of jackets and spread his arms out again for more jackets. He was starting to tire of jacket hunting, but time spent with Guin was rare. He gave a small sigh and followed the teenager on her shopping rampage. "mhmm" he answered to the latest jacket.
His expressions changed from his smile to a confused look. Guin's eager smile had turned to a frown. "Yes, i've always been having fun." he said with a smile as he picked the jacket up from the shoulders off of her hands and tried to make a suggestion. "How about we get a bunch of things and go try them on. Maybe you'll find something pretty that you like." He gave a sultry look towards her before looked around for something that Guin might like and not destroy with her blades.

Guinevere sighed. "To be honest, I don't have much spending money for that kind of thing these days." What with having to earn her own income, she was a little stretched for money, at least for the time being. "I can sew my own clothing, and what with my wings changing more these days, it's not exactly like I could try anything on." She gave him a wan smile. "Anyway, I can buy you a suit and sew some wing holes in it, so that's something right? You need one." Her tone had a sense of finality in it. Kemuri was getting a jacket whether he wanted one or not.
"But maybe we can take a break," she admitted. "I havn't seen you in a while." Clinging to his arm, Guinevere said "What would you like to do? How have you been? Have you and Shayna finally gone on a date yet?" Barraging Kemuri with questions and viciously jacket shopping with him was Guinevere's own way of making up for lost time.

At hearing her money problems, his smile turned into an embarrassed one. He had never been the one to earn the money, but he never had to deal with money problems (due to a lack of job and mooching off of Lily's allowance). "Make sure you're happy though. And no, it's fine, you don't have to do that for me. I don't need to go out for any balls or fancy dinners anyways." He said trying to reassure himself rather than Guin.
"A break would be n-" He was a bit shocked, and was abruptly stopped in mid sentence, that she would cling to him. "whoa, whoa. One question at a time there little lady." He said jokingly. "well... I've been looking into jobs but no where good seems to want someone with my education background. But it's been good." He averted his eyes slightly at the mention of Shayna. "To be honest, I haven't seen her at all lately let alone go out... places." he avoided the word date as if it were the plague.
"What about you, Kota and kitty? Still into magic and all that jazz?"

Guinevere frowned. "You are getting a jacket from me today, Kemuri, or so help me, I will send it to you anonymously in the mail. They will suspect it's a shifty package, Kemuri, do you want me to be suspected of mailing shifty packages?" She gave him a hard stare.
She sighed when he spoke about education backgrounds. It didn't look like she was going to be able to afford going to college, and though she had managed to get a decent job at Daemonolgie, she was applying for scholarships to try to afford the elusive college degree. "I know what you mean," she said sadly. "I always thought it was so easy when I was a little girl, but it's pretty hard to find a decent job without the proper background." She pouted when she heard about Shayna though, and reached out to cuff him playfully, saying, "Call herrrrrr."
She paused and bit her lip at his next question, then answered, "I'm living on my own now!" Jamming a smile on her face, she elaborated, "I am an independent woman, Kemuri."

"n-no" he said as fear took over his voice. Her hard stares left him frozen in place. Mysterious packages sent to a name that shouldn't even be living at the house would cause quite the disturbance. He would have probably sent it right back to her house without opening it.
"I was thinking of... maybe trying to get back into school if i couldn't go anywhere." The thought of it pulled at his heart strings a bit. "It's better to be young, but you're not gonna get any younger by standing around, right?" He said to her jokingly as he gave her a small pat on her head. He had learned that time together or apart was precious the hard way... Trying to cheer himself up, he asked Guin, "Well, Are you going to continue school or continue to find jobs?"
He pretended like the light cuff hurt as he rubbed his hand on where she touched. "I... never got her phone number." He said shamefully. "That's good! Do you live anywhere around the neighbourhood?" he wished he could be independent too... he was technically a grown man living with his (foster) mother. "You should visit Kota sometime. I'm sure she and kitty would love to see you doing well."

"I'm going to try both," Guinevere explained. "I think it's going to be tough, but I've been through worse. I've just got to manage my time and get all my work done. Plus I'm going to contact my mother's family in Japan and ask them for support, and that'll be kind of embarrassing, but technically, I am their kin." She shrugged. "Anyway, I should be fine. You should pursue an education too, Kemuri!"
At his next question, she nodded. "I live in my mother's old house. Pucci lives with me too." The subject made her uncomfortable, so she changed it. "How's Lily?"
