After traveling from the plains, and across the river, Khajag had reached the mouth of the forest. Exhausted from his travels, the stallion paid no mind to the current weather brewing overhead. A heavy dark cloud loomed behind him, coming from the plains towards the direction of the mountains. Without seeing the signs of possible rain coming from behind him, he laid to rest under a bare tree with soft soil. He found comfort in the rare find of loose soil, and sighed in bliss as he laid to rest on the soft soil. Without a thought, the stallion drifted to bed.
During the night, the dark cloud finally reached the forest. First, the rain was light, and sporadically came down. After a couple more minutes, it picked up. The stallion was still asleep, deep in slumber. The loose soil was taking in the moisture from the rain, and as the rain progressively got heavier, the more moisture the mud took in. The stallion shivered, and drew out of his deep slumber. His hazy eyes slowly opened, and looked around, but took in nothing that he had just seen. His eyes closed again, as his mind tried to think of why he was cold and wet. He yawned, wondering why he was still getting wet...
It didn't take much longer for the Khajag to open his eyes and see the rain. His eyes widened. "W-what..?!" He whispered and yawned, trying to feign the sleepiness away. His comfortable loose dirt bed had turned into a muddy mess.

Soraven made her way along the treeline, the rain sliding gently off her back. She loved the rain. Heck, she loved just about any type of water... except swamps. She had never run into so many creature that could eat you alive living in that horrible putrid water. That was one type she never wanted to be near again, or see again. Though, this mud was starting to remind her of it....
She didn't know why she had been traveling this direction. She had aimlessly been following the storm, because heck, she had nothing else to do. And it hadn't been traveling that fast anyway. Occasionally breaking into a brisk trot had easily let her catch up to it, though she would have much rather preferred to catch up to it where there was some grass. Her hooves made rather sickly 'squelching' noises as she pulled them from the sticky mud. Not that she didn't like mud, the stuff was wonderful to roll in, but it had to be the right type. This stuff would stay with you for days if you didn't get it off before it dried. Though, if the clouds had anything to say about it, with the way they were boiling in the sky, she didn't think there was going to be any problem with the mud drying.

Khajag sat there n confusion, staring wide eyed at the surrounding mud. The whites of his eyes were surely visible as he stood up in a hurry, sinking in a bit from quickly changing the surface tension of the mud beneath him. His whole lower body was covered with mud, and his tail was saturated in it. He managed to get some flecks on his face.
The stallion was in slight confusion. He didn't know it was going to rain! His hair was drenched from the rain after sleeping through a night of rainfall, and completely now plastered to his neck and face. How could be miss out on it raining? The stallion considered being a heavy sleeper, and worried one of these days he would be fast asleep and he would not recognize the danger in sleeping out in the open. His ears flicked, catching some noise coming from a distance. As the noise drew closer, he recognized the noise to be the squishy noise of mud under a hoof. Curious teal eyes kept a watch out before him, wondering who was strolling by.

Soraven continued on, stopping for a moment here and there under a tree, to lift her muzzle to the boughs above and pull the water off of the leaves or needles of the tree. She didn't feel like drinking from the muddy puddles that she was walking through. As she stopped under her current tree, an old oak with long branches, she looked out from her temporary shelter into the downpour around her. It was getting heavy enough that it was almost a complete gray curtain around her. She could only see maybe 10 lengths in any direction, and that didn't bring her any comfort. Though, it meant the predators would be having the same amount of trouble she was, and the water was coming down so hard, it would be impossible to catch her scent. So, at least for now, she was safe, if one could account for not climbing out form under a tree and drowning themselves in the worsening deluge.
She had a mind to stay where she was for a bit and let the rain slacken off. It wasn't a summer rain yet, where the water was pleasantly cool and hard to get a chill in when traveling in. This was still very much a winter rain. It felt like pellets of liquid ice were hitting you, and it didn't take long to find oneself shivering. She shorted, plowing accumulated water from the sides and inside of her nose, and continued to watch the gray world around her. At least the tree was big enough to offer her decent shelter. Only a few large drops found their way to her coat. And no breeze blew in to throw the water off the leaves or slant the rain to penetrate past the green barrier. It was a straight down rain, and if she knew her weather, at any point soon it would break. She only had to wait.

Khajag decided that it would do him no good if he just stood there in the rain. He would not want to get sick from the rain. The rain soaked him, chilling his normally warm body. As more rain poured down on him, the mud he had found himself in slowly washed off, retuning back down to the earth the the accumulating rain water and reabsorbed into the earth. With heavy steps, trying not to get pulled into the mushy dirt, he headed up towards higher ground. The stallion was heading in the direction he heard some noises from, but he couldn't trust his ears in the rain.
Heading towards the first tree that he saw and knew it would offer some decent shelter, he did not expect coming across another Soquili. His teal eyes looked surprised, but quickly blinked feeling a raindrop trickle down a strand of his mane and into his eyes. "D-do you mind sharing the shelter?" He called to the mare softly, not sure if they both could fit comfortably. His hair was plastered to his neck and face. His bangs hid half his face, and his tail dragged down across the dirt, appearing like a heavy rope with a brush tip. The tip of his tail 'painted' a line from where he had come from to his current position before the line disappeared with the soil reabsorbing its current position.

Soraven watched the water pour from the heavens when she heard something from around the tree. Looking around the trunk, she was surprised to see a male soquili standing there. His mane was plastered over his eyes, and his tail drug in the mud. He looked like he was also cold. She nodded a greeting to him, knowing what it was like to escape the rain.
You are more then welcome to stay here if you like. It shouldn't be pouring much longer though. She turned bright blue eyes up towards the clouds again, and several heartbeats later, the downpour slackened, and she it easier to head out from under the tree. She closed her eyes, and let the water wash over her, feeling the drops slacken even more until they where only a light mist. Water ran gently down her curved horn, and a few droplet flew as she flicked an ear to send them flying towards the earth. And now came the scents. She basked in them, as well as the feel of the light rain, and smiled to the heavens.

Khajag shyly smiled at the mare, his face was starting to take on a flushed color. Although, her statement surprised him. "It.. won't?" He said with a bit of confusion. Not too long after he asked to join her under the tree, the downpour eased. "H-how did you know that?" He asked, taking her position under the tree as she left the shelter of the tree to enjoy the rain. He quieted down, letting her enjoy the rain.
The stallion watched the mare as she basked in the softer downpour of the rain. It seemed rather fitting for her to be under the rain. His teal eyes looked over her, and she reminded him of water and ice. The blues of her hair reminded him of cold water, while the pale white of her coat and the ice blue patch on her back made him think of cold ice. Maybe that's why he thought of her to fit the current weather. He couldn't help but think of the situation to be "beautiful" in his mind.

Soraven turned to smile at him, then looked up. It's the way the clouds are formed, and the way they are moving. They're not thick enough to give off a heavy rain for very long. And they're moving to quickly to stay for very long. Some mountain somewhere will probably get drenched, but we, only had a bit of it. She caught his eyes, flicking her ears in amusement as she caught him looking. She couldn't say she minded though.
Surrounded by the smell of fresh pine and earth, she splayed her feet a bit and gave a tremendous shake, starting from her head and working down her body until her withers quivered with the force of her shaking. Water was thrown everywhere, and she took a moment to admire still-flying droplets. The rain really was a mist now. She could watch the tiny droplets of water gather on her coat, and roll together to form a bigger drop before sliding down her side to disappear in the earth. She took a deep breath, facing away from her companion before, then felt like explaining.
I love the smell after the rains. Everything smells so fresh and clean. There's nothing like it. And everywhere you go, the scent is always different and unique to wherever you are. You might be in a forest, but it will smell different. And I love it.

After observing the mare in front of him, the stallion widened his eyes in surprise to see the mare meeting his gaze. Realizing she caught him staring, the stallion blushed and averted his gaze. His ears cocked back in his embarrassment. He didn't mean to stare.
The stallion looked up at the clouds. "I suppose you are correct. It is clearing up.." He said softly, seeing that the rain was falling down in a soft mist now. The stallion listened to the rain around him. The sound of the rain falling on the foliage around was much more softer, but still offered a relaxing tone to the rain falling around him. He smiled lightly, nodding agreement with the mare. "I have noticed this too.. It kind of helps me know where I am whenever I come across a certain smell again, or I guess it tells you that a certain plant is in the area because of the smell that permeates after the rain.*
