Deneb stepped out from under the sheltering arms of the forest where she made her home. She looked around letting the cool are run across her body before trotting out a little further before looking up at the sky. The stars were in full force tonight and that made the mare smile. She ran her eyes across the sky until she found the one star she was looking for.
She took a deep breath and let it out slowly enjoying the coolness of the night, letting herself temporarily let her mind wander.

Soraven shook out her mane, dislodging the drops of water that still clung to the silky strands. It had been a rather good bath, though slightly cold. The snow melt had cooled the water considerably, and had left her feeling slightly chilled, but all the more refreshed because of it. Twitching as she walked, she let the water roll down her clean coat, and flicked it in all manner of directions with her tail. It usually helped it dry out quicker.
As she continued to walk, she looked upwards, into the sky, and towards the bright sparkling lights shimmering there. She had always wished that she had had wings, but she knew she was bound to the earth. The farthest into the sky she could go was limited by how hard she lept, no matter how hard she tried. A silver droplet sparkled like the stars above as their light caught it, and highlighted it upon her raised horn.

Deneb was startled from her musing by the sudden glow off to her side. She quickly turned her head and carefully began to wander towards the glow. Once closer she finally saw the pale colored unicorn silhouetted against the night sky.
"That's amazing." she said quietly watching with a slight hint of awe.

Soraven was startled out of her longing, and turned to see a rather strange creature approach. It looked like a unicorn, but... the horn was different. And there were odd scales patterend along her back and down her sides. She was beautiful, but she was different.
Excuse me? she asked, not hearing the other exclaim, which she clarified. I'm sorry. I was star gazing again. I didn't hear what you said, much to my chagrin. She bowed her head in apology, and the drop raced down her horn to dissapear into the soil. My name is Soraven, though most call me Sora. It is nice to meet you.

Deneb smiled. "Its quite alright. I'm sorry I disturbed you. I often like to come out of the forests myself to gaze at the stars." she let her eyes flick over the others form taking it all in. "I'd heard of unicorns, but I'd never seen one before now." she said. She watched the drop from the other's horn drop to the soil beneath. "I'd never seen anything like that before."
She looked back up at the sky before turning again and giving another friendly smile. "Its a pleasure to meet you as well. I'm Deneb like the star."

It's nice to have company now and again, especially when they have the same hobby you do. She tilted her head a bid. I'm sorry to say I'm rather at a loss as to what you are. She basically danced in place, wanting to get a closer look, but knowing that would be unbearably rude. You have a horn, but it's in a much different shape then mine. And the scales.... She really couldn't fathom what the other was. Oh, and as for the water, it's just refracted starlight. You can only do it when the sky is really clear though.

Deneb nodded. "Oh, me?" she looked herself over. "I'm a kirin." she said. "You can look if you like." she said shifting to let the other get a clearer look at her, and raising one hoof to show it was cloven.
Deneb laughed a bit. "It was really pretty, I never considered trying to do that before." she then looked up at her horn. "Although I'm not sure it would work so well." she tossed her head getting her forelock out of her golden eyes. "So where are you from?"

She went to work examining the other, examining the scales on her back, nuzzling them to feel the texture of them against her velvet nose. Ooh, there's smooth. Then she went to examining the hoof that was so prominently displayed for her viewing pleasure. Then the tail that only had hair on the tip. She'd seen ta tail like it on Eviotil, but this one had hair. Feeling satisfied that she had seen everything she could on the mare, she turned to face her.
Sorry. I've been told I can be a nosy creature. She shrugged good-naturedly. As for the droplet, I do it with rain all the time. Catch it in the light, and make little rainbows after a storm. I just love water, so I play with it a lot. As for where Im from, well, I'm from everywhere. Once again, she shrugged. I don't have a place I call home. I roam, and wherever looks good for the night, I stay, and wherever looks interesting, I stay a little longer. Though, usually, I travel by lakes or rivers. That way, there is always water to drink, even if there isn't anything to eat.

Deneb shook her head and put her foot down. "Its perfectly fine. We're all curious about each other. Its only natural."
She nodded as she listened. "That sounds fun. I wander all over the forests around here. I used to live in the foothills but after my dam died I moved down here." she sighed a bit. "Needed a change of pace and scenery, everything was just...well it was upsetting. I'm alright now, but I don't want to go back. Its a hard life in mountainous areas. I'm sure it can be just as complicated living near the water...alligators and crocodiles, and heaven knows what else." she said with a slight shudder. "But you have to be where you love." she then laughed. "I'm sorry, I ramble sometimes."

Soraven nodded, tossing her head. It can be dangerous, with flash floods, loose soil, and yes the predators. But it is the place I love. And as for rambling.... She nickered with laughter. Happens to me all the time. She thought about her own past for a moment.
As for me, I've never really had a place to call home. I just can't seem to settle in. And I guess there are some people who consider me stupid, but, as I see it, that's there problem. Don't have any brothers or sisters, and don't remember my parents. It's always been just me. And I guess some would also consider me suicidal, since I just bit a kolana on the nose because she was ticking me off. She was making fun of me, and he made me so mad... She pawed the ground at the memory, her ears laying flat before calming down. This was not the person she was mad at. But so yeah. I may not be the best to roam alone, but I do it anyway.

Deneb nodded. "The woods are much the same, wolves, fires, swampy areas..." she sighed. "Its dangerous no matter where you are." she smiled. "I've had a run in with a Kalona myself." she shrugged. "Nothing really to talk about there."
She took a deep breath and let it out. "Sometimes being alone is the only way you find yourself." she said. "The only way you learn what you're capable of."

Sora nodded. That's true. It's takes a strong soquili to live alone. For there's no one to help defend and protect you from danger. If you are in a bind, there's no one to save you. You have to rely on your own wits, and intuition to survive, and some just don't have what it takes. She decided to change subject then.
So, how long are you staying around here, or are you just moving on. Me, I'm never sure how long I'm going to be in one place. Sometimes my feet itch too much to really stay someplace a day. She grinned at the other.

Deneb shrugged a bit. "Oh, I don't know. I think I might stay in this area for a little longer." she said. "Its nice, has everything I need, and the area towards the mountains where I also go is still so nasty, much better in the summer. Right now I'm enjoying the milder weather." she said with a nod.
"I don't know if I'll ever stop wandering myself." she said. "Maybe someday if the right stallion comes along, but until that happens I just keep moving." she said with a bit of a laugh.

Yes, I have heard some of these places have been getting bad weather. I guess it's because of the mountains that it's kept rather nice here. I'm rather happy about that, though I could do with some rain. I love the rain. She looked around a bit. I might stay here too for a bit. It is rather pleasant.
She thought for a moment. I don't know myself if I will ever find a stallion to settle down with. Or one that could even handle me.

"I know how that feels." she laughed and tossed her head again. "I'm not looking for the perfect stallion but if I just run into him that works for me."
She looked around and nodded. "It is nice here." she then looked up at the sky. "Some rain would be pleasant. I love the smell after it rains." she said. "How everything smells so fresh and clean."
