There were bonuses to being the only small things in a fort of much larger things. No one ever looked down. It made sneaking about a very easy task because he didn’t have to worry about being spotted. Without looking back to see if Ana was even watching Lucifer ducked under one of the long tables that spanned almost the entire length of the Hall. The table was empty, making the skittering a quick process as he made his way towards their target. The plan would go down without a hitch, as their plans always did. It was Luci’s job to get up to the Cook without being seen, when he got there his goal was the pocket knife in the cooks left back pocket. Never once did he stop to think about how the cook would respond or whether or not he would get in trouble. He was with Anti Ana after all, and she had Mommi and Daddi under her control, which easily meant she had almost the entire fort under her control.
Granted he also never stopped to question the morality of this little pick-pocketing lesson. Not that morality had ever been something to stop the six-year-old before. Considering his background it wasn’t a surprise that the lines were rather blurred when it came to such a thing. Okay, maybe not so much blurred as entirely skewed, but most of the fort was hoping the Twins would one day grow out of such behavior. But when one looked towards their Guardians it was unlikely such a thing would ever occur.
As he scurried along his head brushed the top of the table, sending his hat cascading down over his eyes. Before he could stop moving he was sent sprawling by one of the table legs. Shaking off the pain of his almost certainly skinned knees the six year old pulled himself back up and readjusted his hat. Gazing out carefully to see if his fall had been noticed, he was pleased to see that if the cook had heard anything he hadn’t given it any notice. Making quick work of the rest of the distance between his fall and end of the table Luci perched quietly.
Now all he could do was lie in wait. Always the sweet-talker it was time for Dani to make her move before he could act. As Ana had told him, make use of all the resources you have, and considering the synchronization that some of the fort was convinced was a joint-mind between the twins, making use of that particular resources was not a problem at all. Mixed eyes peered through the legs of the tables, from here he could see most of the room. The Hall was mostly empty at this time of day, most people were out in the training field or running errands, but a few of the Privates had come in for a rest or lunch. A quiet, open environment, not the easiest place for a thief to do their work, but Luci was certain that was why Aunti Ana had chosen now to hold the lesson. It made it more difficult and required them to work closer together. Luci was more interested in the training lessons involving blades and other sharp objects, but Ana had said the two simply weren’t old enough for a proper lesson in that area yet. They would have to start out with less violent lessons firsts. Not that Lucifer hate pickpocketing, in fact it would come in useful against his parents in the future. But it didn’t have the same thrill has danger.
