Name: Jurriaan (Yu-ree-ahn)
Age: 34
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Straight/Heteroflexible
Craft: FarmerCraft/ Wherhandler (Specialization: Grain Farmer)
Rank: n/a

History: His past wasn’t wild or terribly exciting. Jurriaan was born one of two children born to a farmer, his father, and a baker, his mother. The boys spent their time learning and helping out wherever they could. He and his younger brother, Corteo, attended a touching and stood at the following Hatching. The elder of the two never did Impress, not that he minded. He rather enjoyed the work of a farmer. His brother, however, did Impress to a blue dragonet and took to taking care of his new partner, while still helping out with the field when he had the time. Jurriaan felt no jealousy at all towards him. He had no secret desire to be a dragon rider. It was just another job, and being honest, he has always preferred Whers anyway. It wasn’t too much later that he received from their parents the egg that would hatch into his very own wher. The boy worked hard learning and with working in tandem with his partner.

He has enjoyed following along the family line, getting his hands dirty, growing hearty grain for everyone to enjoy. Jurriaan lives in a small place not far from his folks and visits them regularly when he can. He wishes he could see more of his brother through, but he has his practicing to do, taking care of his and everyone's dragons, and a steady boyfriend to juggle. Jurriaan hasn't met the guy yet, but he has no problem with that. If they're happy together, more power to 'em. He happens to know that their father doesn't approve, but their mother does try to be supportive. Jurriaan knows that if he himself were to end up landing a fellow over a gal, then their old man would blow a fuse. Their mother would try and support him as well, but the fact that she wants at least one or two grandkids isn't lost on him. Jurriaan isn't extremely marriage minded, but he's keeping an eye out for that special lady, just in case. He isn't actively pursuing marriage, but if the right woman were to come along, he'd be sure to make his intentions known.

Appearance: Jurriaan is a man of average height and has a solid, well muscled build. Everywhere you look on his face there was a story to be told. The skin of his face has faint traces of the beginnings of wrinkles at the corners of his eyes, on his forehead, and that the sides of his mouth, showing those that knew how to interpret those subtle lines of faces that this was a man who smiled, laughed, squinted, and raised his brows often. His hands are rough from many years of hard work and he sports a small assortment of scars all over from all manner of scrapes, scuffles, and accidents. Nothing terribly damaging.

His thick hair is short and shaggy, more often than not brushed back away from his face. His hair is the color of wheat with hints of light golden caramel, if the light is right. Due to the lightness of his hair, it’s nearly impossible to tell that there are the first faint touches of premature graying at his temples. He inherited this trait from his father, although, having gotten his fair hair from his mother, he won’t have the distinct pleasure of having to go through a “badger hair” stage like his father. Jurriaan’s eyes appear to be practically black, but are actually a warm hazel. They appear dark because he has larger than average pupils. Bright, sunny days bother him, so he dons a hat to keep his eyes from stinging from the brightness of the light.

Since he considers his skin tone, hair, and eye color to be all of similar hue and nothing too outstanding, he does enjoy wearing clothes that have more saturated colors, reds, blues, greens, etc; mostly in shirts or fabric belts. (Solids or really subtle patterns or stripes only. He isn’t some dandy, after all.) His pants are almost always in earthy neutrals, black, gray, brown, and navy.

Personality: A good old boy who never really ever saw work as a chore, can be seen as being overly friendly or familiar with those who aren’t used to his manner. He’s a particularly tactile person, so “handsy” could be used to describe him if one is the sort who isn’t so big on touching. Jurriaan is soft spoken but has a big, hearty laugh. (Not soft spoken in that he is shy, but in that his everyday, conversational voice has a mellow, quiet quality to it. He can bark orders and shout for attention with the best and worst of them. Or sing rather colorful songs off-key, for that matter.) He enjoys a good laugh and can often find humor in things that most don’t. Jurriaan has never been good at hiding his mood and emotes with his hands, more so if something has him worked up, or if he's a bit drunk. He enjoys going out and does drink on occasion, but rarely to the point of excess. Jurriaan can't recall the last time he's had a hangover.

When it comes to those outside of Ghenza, Jurriaan clams up and offers a blank or steely stare. If he must associate with them, his normally hands-on approach greeting folk is tucked away for curt, brief dialog if absolutely necessary, if outright evasion doesn’t work. If any happen to be farmers and appear to be struggling, he may give them some advice but won’t go so far as to touch them until they either leave or he feels they’ve become part of the community, which will take a long while.

Jurriaan has a tendency to view situations in one of two ways, black and white, good or bad. There isn't a whole lot of gray area in between, and generally when there is, he doesn't notice. It would take someone laying everything about the situation out on the table, both sides and alternate opinions. Only then may he figure into the gray, while generally keeping his own opinion tucked away to grumble about the matter later. He also has been known to have little in the way of tact. He has a blunt manner of speaking, the thoughts in his head having a relatively short span of time before they get spoken often with little to no censoring what could be considered offensive, or possibly flattering, depending on the situation and what his opinion is, to someone else who isn't accustomed to this coming from him.

Other: Wher handler to Brown Jurrisk. He did share his blood with Jurrisk. Jurriaan also is a member of the union.

Name: Jurrisk

Function: Load wher

About the Wher: Jurrisk is a powerhouse, being on the slightly larger side of average for a Ghenza wher, and while not the brightest wher in town, isn't the exact dimmest either. Jurriaan's family hadn't been able to afford much of the herbal mix, hardly any for the growing Wher. It helped a bit and, while it doesn't appear to have really sank in, he does have his moments that can still sometimes surprise his Handler. He works hard and doesn’t let up until the task is done or his Handler decides that a good stopping point has been reached. He appears to have two speeds, full tilt and mosey. When not working alongside Jurriaan, this wher’s economy of energy can sometimes be confused with napping. He doesn’t like to be touched by people, only those who gain his complete trust can and only then when his Handler is there. Unlike his Handler, Jurrisk isn’t exactly the social sort. He hates crowds and only deals with them if necessary or if a job calls for it. Jurrisk isn't too hard to convince to go into those sorts of situations, food can help, but what he really goes for is a pat to the neck or a scratch behind his wing joints along with some encouraging words from his Handler and he is as right as rain. Jurrisk works for the joy of getting a job done well and the appreciation of his Handler.

If the wher were ever to get his Handler upset, Jurrisk would, at first, try to act as if he were completely innocent, but if that didn't work, which it rarely does, he'll sulk to himself for a bit before returning and behaving as if nothing had ever happened.

Almost there! XD

Quick history correction: They only get to attend one touching, when they're twelve. Everyone twelve attends that Touching, and then after that they don't get another shot.

I just need one more solid flaw in his personality and he's good to go. <3 If you've got one in there that you think I've missed feel free to point it out to me and explain why it's a flaw. (The only one I can see right now is the last paragraph).
