((Sorry for the lame title xp)) Wei weaved a lazy, haphazard pattern through the sky. It was a windy day here in the snow-covered lands near...Kousetsu? Yes, if his mental map was serving him correctly. Rather than fight the wind's current today, Wei had decided jsut to let it take him where it wanted today, and he'd ended up above the forest of the snow tribe.
Eventually he tired of being blown around by the wind, and the Modiphim gracefully dived down to the ground, landing nimbly to look aorund. He was relatively sur ehe hadn't crossed the border yet, and he didn't plan on intruding. Instead he began to walk lightly through the snow, absently looking for his next meal, or maybe company if it was available.
It had been a long time since Wei has seen his only friend and partner, Jing. It had seemed a good decision at the time, but in hindsight, Wei knew that hadn't been the right decision. So he'd left the lands they'd dhared for awhile and gone off to explore, looking to see what else the world had to offer.

Eponine wandered along the border of the Kousetsu tribe, searching for food. There wasn't much game left within the tribe; The recent storms left them with almost nothing. She had set out that morning hoping to find something on the edge of the grounds. The wind seemed to pick up around her, and Eponine caught the scent of something.
She barely noticed wandering off the tribelands as she followed the smell. Eponine decided, after a few moments, that the scent was from another fox. For the longest of time she saw only snow and trees, heard only her own footsteps crunch in the snow. She was about to return to the tribe when she caught a glimpse of gold through the white.
Not knowing what else could attribute to such a bright color in this purely monochromatic landscape, Eponine assumed it was the fox she had sensed earlier. She continued toward the fox, soon able to see red mixed in with the gold. It was a beautiful blend of color. As she approached, colors grew and a shape began to form. Eponine soon realized that he was no ordinary fox.
"Hello," Eponine said softly, hoping it was enough to catch the 'Phim's attention. He didn't seem to have seen her yet, but probably heard her a while ago. "You're new to the area, are you not?"

Although Wei had heard footsteps earlier, he didn't pay them much mind. They were at a distance, and he had fought his way out of plenty of situations, should this prove hostile. Rather than fret, he looked for any source of game until they approached, then turned to look.
Wei bowed his head in respect to the vixen, and nodded. "Yes, I am. My name is Wei, and I'm just a wanderer." He offered an inviting smile and added: "What's yours?"
It took him a moment to spot her tribe tattoo, but he knew it to be Kousetsu's. Was he on their lands? Or perhaps was she just looking for food the same as he was? Judging from his lack of success, Wei had a feeling the winter was proving rough for everyone in the area.
"I apologize if I've intruded on your tribe's territory," he said after awhile. "I just landed to avoid the wind for awhile."

Eponine responded to the bow and smile with a polite nod of her own. "My name is Eponine," she replied. She then shook her head at his worries. "It's alright, you haven't intruded," she informed him. "We're just outside the Kousetsu lands."
Another gust of cold wind hit her, and she understood better why he had landed. "I'm sorry the winds have stranded you here," she then said. "I don't believe the Elders would mind if you remained until they let up a little, though. How long ago did you land?" Eponine found herself surprisingly calm, even though Wei was the first 'Phim she had ever met. Had her siblings been with her, he would have been bombarded with strange questions.

"That's what I thought," Wei said with a nod, glad his mental map was still right. "It's nice to meet you, Eponine." He gave her a friendly msile to show he really meant that. He loved meeting new people, and Eponine seemed nice.
"Oh, it's alright," Wei chuckled. "I've been in worse wind storms before, that's for sure." He looked all around them, enjoying the scenery where he'd been stranded. "I only landed recently. Maybe fifteen minutes or so? I wasn't really keeping track of time." He shook his head at himself; when you were used to flying, time was important. It helped you judge distance.
He looked back at the vixen and smiled. "So, you're from Kousetsu? Do you like it here?" He had always been curious about all of the tribes, but ones like Kousetsu, which were unusually large in an extreme environment has always kept most of his curiosity.

Eponine nodded at his questions. "I do enjoy it, " she replied. "Though it does get a little rough out here. Hence why I'm out here scavenging for food. It is a beautiful place, but honestly I've never been anywhere else," she added with a smile.
For the most part, Eponine didn't mind the fact that she had never been anywhere. It might be an exciting experience, but who knows? 'Well, Wei might,' her thoughts answered for her. He had mentioned that he was a wanderer.
"So you travel a lot?" She began questioningly. "And by flight, no less. Do you enjoy it? Flying and wandering?"

"You've never been anywhere else?" Wei asked, sounding genuinely surprised. Wow. He'd never really met anyone who hadn't torubled before, but he also hadn't been to many tribes before. Who knew how often tribe members travelled.
"All the time," he agreed, nodding. "Flying's...amazing, if that's a strong enough word. It almost never gets old. It's been lonely sometimes, though. I guess it's lonely on foot too, though. No one's with others all the time." He nodded to himself, satisfied by his answer.
A gust of wind rushed past, pulling his gold wings up and ruffling the feathers. He shook them out and settled them back down gracefully, without displacing a single feather. He was well-versed in handling wind after all the time he'd spent in the tundra with Jing.

Eponine watched in awe as the Wei's golden wings expanded and ruffled with the wind. She hadn't realized how truly magnificent they were until now, and how majestic he looked even while the wind attempted to mess him up. Eponine momentarily forgot to respond to what he said.
"Oh, that does sound wonderful," Eponine replied, looking up at the sky. She turned back to Wei before continuing, "I'm the opposite; almost always with others. Whether it's my family or other tribe members... It's a big tribe, or it used to be, so it's difficult to find privacy. That's the last thing on my mind, though, when we're constantly searching for food or protecting ourselves from blizzards."
Eponine was silent for a moment and looked around her. Food was the reason she was out here in the first place, but it seemed that even off the lands there was nothing to be found. "I've never thought much of travelling, either," Eponine said as she turned back to Wei. "My youngest sister and older brother have been off the tribelands once each before, but I never felt the urge to accompany them or anything."

Wei tilted his head as he thought--he'd never had to fight so hard to find food, especially since he only had to feed himself. It was no wonder Eponine had never really ventured away from her tribelands.
"I think family has its merits," he said with a smile. He had none to speak for, but he'd always thought about it.
Wei looked around too--if it was food she wanted, it wouldn't be found here. "Good for your siblings, then." He nodded absently, then decided to offer Eponine some help.
"Would you like some help hunting?" he asked. "If we can find a herd of deer down here somewhere, then I can fly down onto one."

Eponine smiled at Wei's comment. "Family is everything to me," she said. "Without my parents or siblings, I don't know where I'd be." Eponine had always wanted a mate and children of her own as well, but decided she didn't need to mention that.
"Oh, that would be wonderful," Eponine replied, smiling up at the 'Phim yet again. "I greatly appreciate your offer!" Determined to return to hunting, Eponine sniffed the ground, and then the air, trying to pick up a scent. As with before, however, there was none. "I think a little further from the Tribe," she suggested, glancing to the South, away from the border of Kousetsu Lands.

"Away from the tribe it is," Wei agreed. It would make sense for them to turn away from this weather. He backed away from Eponine enough to use his wings, then propelled him self up into the air. With how bare the trees were, he could still see and talk to her, but hopefully spot some deer tracks or something.
He hoped they coudl find more than one lone straggler; she would need the whoel thing to help feed her family, and he could use at least some small game to eat himself.
"Is the weather always like this?" he asked, looking down at her. "Always this harsh, I mean." Even just this little bit highrer the air was noticeably colder. He'd have to stay close to the ground until he found warmer air, or the ice would freeze in his feathers.

Eponine simply nodded, watching with a slight smile on her face as Wei made space for himself so he could glide along side her Once he was doing so, she followed along beside and under him. She looked up as she heard his question. "Not always, no," she replied. "Even most normal winters don't bring blizzard after blizzard. We are well adapted for the normal cold winters here, as are the game we usually hunt. The blizzards are uncommon; I believe this is only the second time it's been really bad since Loki and Sahari started the tribe."
As she thought about it, Eponine realised that she didn't even know how much of the land outside of Kousetsu had been afflicted by this blizzard. It seemed at the moment they were still within the blizzard's range. Greenless evergreens stoood half-broken around her, stripped bare by the harsh winds and snow. The animals they seek wouldn't have survived here.

"I wonder what made this one so bad then," Wei mused as he too looked at the trees. Many here had exploded from the constant freezing temperatures, leaving only splintered branches and trunks lying about. Only animals who hibernated could have made it through this alive, and Wei wasn't about to go stir up some large bear's den. Only a Modidaeva would think they could escape from that situation unscathed.
"Well, when I flew through earlier, it looked like your tribe is the only place spring hasn't found," he added. "I suppose if it's always winter here, that's why. But it gets warmer not that far from here."

"I'm not sure," was Eponine's simple reply as she continued to wander behind his flying form. As he continued, Eponine realized what that must mean. "Spring," she repeated. "That'll be a new experience for me, then."
She was excited at the prospect, having imagined the grass and flowers as a kit. Soon, hopefully, she would get to see them. As childish as the thought seemed, even to herself, it brought a smile to her face.
