After her meeting with Kisho, Jaloo had stayed near her parents. She'd not wanted to be around others since then, because he'd annoyed her with the dumb names he called her and the fact he was right. If she opened her eyes, she'd find love. But did she want to? No. Love would mean she wouldn't be able to go exploring. Even as a fully grown mare, Jaloo wanted to stay with her family, be protected from the real world. The harsh reality, she learned that day, was that she couldn't. Love of adventure would make her wander away from her father and mother and go where ever the wind took her. Sure, it sounded very cliche, but that's what would happen.

Leaving had already crossed her mind quite a few times, but fear stopped her. She couldn't talk to anyone about it, either, because she didn't really have many she called friends. Maybe Basil, but from what she'd heard of him, he was expecting a family soon. Would he be there for the foals when they're born and be a father like her own? Or would he leave and be irresponsible?

"Woah, hold up a minute." She blinked, those clear blue eyes looking out at the forest in a confused manner. Why the hell did she care? They weren't a couple. Jaloo didn't think of him romantically. She hadn't really thought about him until now. ".......Right. No." Talking to herself was comforting, listening to the sound of her voice echoing, sort of, in the midst of all the trees. When the birds heard her, they stopped chirping for a whole second before realizing there wasn't danger. Ears flicking a bit, she looked up to the canopy to see a bright arrangement of birds. "How weird... What the hell are they staring at?"

Looking around her she paused in mid-step and stared. Antlers? What the hell? Or were they moving branches? Intrigued, she moved closer to the line of bushes that were in front of the antler-branches and she followed them, trying to be stealthy and unnoticeable.

Cael had found that the grass sprouts that popped up by the trunks of trees and under the edge of bushes were the best thing to eat at the moment. The snow had receeded enough to let some thigns start to grow a little, but there was not allot of other food around, these fresh little sprouts he had started finding were better than anything else he had found yet. Though soon more food would be available as spring and summer rolld round. Though while he was finding his little shoots he had been unaware of the audience that he had gained. His pail antlers wiggleign and figiting above a small bush. His body angled oddly, unaware that all that was visable was his antlers.

Looking up finally, sure that he had herd something, coming face to face with a colourful young mare, blinking for a moment, glad that he didn't gape like a fool, though the small blades of grass peeking out of his mouth were probably no better. Swallowing what he had been eating as he straightens up fully, looking round before facing the mare again. Hi pail pink face darkening a little, his blush seeming like more clouds had appeared on his pelt. Stuttering a little till his surprise faded enough. "Uh... Hello Miss... You surprised me." Giving an awkward smile to her, suddenly gettign a flash, needing to remember to do introductions. "I'm Cael, its nice to meet you." Trying not to cringe at how lame he probably sounded. He really needed to learn to talk to others better.

When she came face to face with a pink male, she backed up quickly and snickered a bit. Well! That... was a strange thing. Antlers on his head. Examining him she looked even more confused with his tail and his hooves. What kind of horse was he? Definately not one she was used to seeing, that was for sure. This was a milestone in her life. She'd met Wind, Flutters and now antler heads. Though, she wanted to know what breed he was when he said his name. Cael?

"I'm Jaloo. Uhm... It's nice to meet you... too?" She couldn't help but laugh at how socially awkard he was. He must not get out to much if he couldn't talk to a mare. Oh! Maybe he was like Vasu and just going to stumble over all his words! That'd be so adorable. She noticed his pale yellow eyes and the dark cloud markings on him. He was a pretty one, and it kind of mad her jealous. She wanted cloud markings now! "So... You're... ..what kind? I haven't seen antlers on one of us before. Much less split hooves and... that kind of tail." If she was being rude, she didn't know it.

His tail flicked out of sight, not really self concious but he did feel a little left out when most he met had lovely long flowing tails. But ah well it was part of what he was so he lived with it. Jaloo, oddly he felt that her name fit her well, not that he would say that, mostly because he couldn't explain why he thought that. "Its night to meet you Jaloo." Smiling, his expression friendly, actually able to talk just fine, it was just knowing what to say where he had no skill. "What kind... Me? I'm a Cerynei aparently." Only knowing this because he was told by another of his kind.

Watching her, oddly wondering if he had done something wrong, this showing on his face, the uncertainty that her laughter caused. But he shrugged it off and smiled again, his little tail perking back up. He was who he was and little stuby tail or not he was happy.

A cerynei? She'd never heard of it. With her brows furrowing a little bit, she continued to study him and then gave a little bit of a smile. Ok, she could get used to it. "Well, you're a pretty male, anyway. I wish I had cloud markings instead of... color splotches and dots." She nodded sagely and then grinned at him. For once she met a male and she wasn't covered in mud. It hadn't rained for a while now, so the only mud would be found near her house at the river. Flicking her own long tail, she looked at Cael with a friendly, warm look.

"So... what do you do for fun? I'm finding myself very bored lately. Do you chase butterflies and bugs? I did that when I was a filly. I tend to romp, get dirty and sing when I'm bored and by myself." So he wasn't exactly stumbling on his words, once he got over his initial shock. But it was still fun to at least talk to someone new.

Blushing a little from her calling him pretty, not that it ever really showd, his coloring covered most blushes unless it was really bad. Though part of him was preening inside... Pretty he had never been called that by another soquili. "I think your markings are lovely, they go nicely together and are very fresh and summery." Meaning every word, he was fond of colours, especially when they blended nicely like hers did. "And your little sworly stripe things are cute too." Figiting a little, not used to giving or recieving complements, but he wasn't shy and unsure enough to let her think that her colouring was nattractive. Though he also hoped it didn't sound like he was hitting on her, that would be odd as they just met.

"Fun?" Cael thinks about this, he had been so occupied with working out how to fend for himself to think about having fun recently. But he had had fun when he was younger. "I used to chase bugs or follow small animals, though that got harder when my antlers grew. I like to run, that can be fun... Though most of what I do is solitery. I was found by a two legger and raised away from other soquili, so I don't really have any friends yet." Figiting again that probably sounding pathetic.

It didn't sound like he was hitting on her, but trying to make her feel better about herself. She did feel a bit better, and it showed with how her posture changed and then she gave a snicker. Jaloo pictured his antlers getting caught on some limbs or in bushes; something like that which.... was very amusing. Looking to him in an apologetic kind of way, she shook her head. "Sorry about your two legger. Mine pays more attention to my dad right now. I think he wants him to have more babies with our mom. It... wouldn't be so bad. I love playing with foals." They had a lot more energy than most of the adults she'd met! Kisho, especially, seemed so boring. Basil seemed nice, but he would probably get tired easily. Vasu... well, he was something else.

"So you want to race?" She said, a grin firmly in place, eyes glinting in a challenge. She adored racing. She used to do it all the time with her two brothers. Of course, Scryer cheated and flew through the whole race, but she did beat London more often than not. "We could start here and then race to the river's edge. Or... to the meadow that's a distance away from here." What Jaloo wasn't thinking about was how he had an advantage. He seemed at home in the forest, while she was used to being near her teepee by the river.

Smiling as her posture altered, his ear twitching a little as she laughed, though he couldn't blame her, he had gotten into quite a few messes when his antlers had been growing in. Even now he found himself in the odd predicerment but those days were not the norm, though when they did come it usually involved him with his antlers stuck in a bush and his rear in the air as he tried to pull himself out. Yeah grazing neer bushes could be troublesome when you had what amounted to minature trees sticking out your head. His ears drooping as he thinks about the loss of his two legger mother. "She was old, but I miss her... She could be so young on the inside, but there was more and more she had trouble doing, though she still tried." Shaking his head, feeling sad thinking about it.

His ears perking back up again when she mentions a race, he had never raced anyone before, but he loved running fast. His smile returning and his small tail flicking, excited by the idea. "Let's go to the meadow, theres a good path through the woods if you dont mind jumping a couple of fallen trees?" That was another thing he loved, jumping, if he could do running and jumping then it was a very good day. That thought making this an amazing day as he got both of those and someone to race.

"I can jump over anything you can." She didn't feel sorry he'd lost his two-legger. In Jaloo's world, everything died and they'd come back again. When a life is taken, one is born. That's what she honestly believed. Chuckling as she got next to him, trying to match her hooves up to his, she looked to the side and chewed on his mane in a friendly manner. "C'mon, antler-boy. Let's see what you got! When I count to three, we take off, right? And yeah. Last one there is a rotten egg!" Looking back a head of her, she scanned the area before starting to count.

"One." She got into position. "Two." She tensed. "Three!" She took off with a strong start and attempted to pull ahead of him.

[I'm going to roll 2 10 sided dice. 1-10 = she stumbles over a fallen tree 11-20 = she cleared it. My next post, we can roll 1 6 sided dice to see who wins!]

Cael got ready for running, staying still while she got in line with him. Grinning, his little tail flicking excitedly. Already tensed and set to go when she got to the two, jumping into a full on gallop when she said three. Going all out, not knowing how fast she was, besides doing anything less than his best would be insulting her as an opponent. Tensing for the moment to jump the fallen tree, seeing that she stumbled in jumping over it, he hoped that his hoves didn't catch so he could get a good lead, and with any luck that would mean that he would win.

(Borrowing from you I'm rolling 2, 10 sided dice. 1-10 = he stumbles over a fallen tree 11-20 = he cleared it.)

While she didn't fall on the ground, Jaloo did land on her stomach on the fallen tree. A curse left her lips and she hurried to get back up. He got a lead, all right; he'd cleared the tree right next to her head! Pulling herself over the tree, she took off again, panting, slowly, hopefully catching up with him. Not to much longer and the meadow would be into view. If she lost to him, she wouldn't be surprised because he looked like he was a part of the forest; unlike her.

Now was the final stretch; she gave it everything she had. The boyish part of her wanted to win. It was a competition, after all!

Spairing a glance back before focusing on running again, his eyes on what was in front. Only having glanced because his jump had been very close to her, not wanting her hurt. Seeing she was up and running again he dropped the worry and dug into his reservs of energy. It wasn't a long race but with the effort that was going into it he was going to definately feel like he had run a race. But it was fun, grinning as he ran, knowing he had a lead but he couldn't take it for granted, he hadn't won yet... But he could see the meadow now so it was closer.

(and the higher number is?)

Her good start paid off after she fell on the tree. She managed to get a nose ahead of him and got an extra burst of speed. Somehow, she managed to slide into the meadow first, sliding on the slick grass until she was facing him. Barely. She just barely won. Panting and sweating a bit in the cold air, Jaloo hung her head and tried to get her breath back. Damn, she hadn't had a race this close in a while! It felt great to beat him, if only by a margin.

"Y...yeah!" She said, looking up to the male with a happy grin on her face. She couldn't believe she won. Seriously. It was one of the best feeling in the world. "God... That was... fun!"

Cael comes to a stop in front of her, grinning. "Congratulations, but I nearly had you." Trotting round her and having a stretch. He would have liked to win but a well earnt win that ment he lost was nothing to be ashamed of. A little out of breath but not panting as hard as her, he had tried but he also hadn't had a fall to recover from. "Are you ok though, anything hurt in your fall?" Looking her over, not too worried as she had gotten up and ran again but it didn't hurt to ask. Giving a friendly smile, it having definately been fun. "I'll have to get a rematch from you one day." Giving a wink. "And I wont be loosing a second time."

She looked at the male and frowned. He didn't even break a sweat! How the hell did she win, anyway? Whatever. She had won and that's all that mattered. With a little laugh at the mention of a rematch, she shook her head before smiling wider. "Ah... I'm fine. Stomach hurts a bit, but other than that nothing else does. Which is a good thing. I hurt my ankle the other day, and it was so stupid. I stumbled on a rock near the river." She'd gotten her breath back, but she was still way to hot. Her legs were burning lightly; so she was out of shape. So what?

Moving around a bit, she sniffed the grass and started grazing. It might have been new grass, so it was bitter. Maybe it was the mixture of the new and the old grass combined. It wasn't very good, but she was getting hungry.
