The Hokage Monument, or Hokage Mountain, is the most representative trait of the Village Hidden in the Leaves. It is a mountain that has had the faces of all the Hokage carved into the stone. It also has the Konoha Library within it. There is a flat top area just behind the tops of the Hokage Faces.

The somber stage was set. The top of the Hokage Monument was decorated with black.
Why did it always rain at funerals? Is it that the heavens were crying? Probably not... Some may take it as a sign of loss and sorrow.
It certainly set the mood for this funeral. Rikujin stood at the head of the procession as he carried the previous Hokage's ashes. He placed the urn at the head table, where the deceased Hokage's picture was displayed.
The picture must have been from his youth, as there was not a single gray hair on his head. Rikujin turned around to face whomever was coming to honor his dead father-figure. Rikujin Katsurou Hokage

Maiko stood there for a moment, her eyes resting on the picture of the previous hokage. Her hair was tied out of her face, but her mouth was covered in it's normal black cloth. She walked up to the hokage, bowing her head as she placed a single white lily beside his ashes. With the water streaking down her face it was hard to tell what was tears and what was the rain.

Approaching through the trees Vol came closer and closer to the funeral area, but stopped before he reached there. Getting his composure back he wiped his eyes, and walked the rest of the way to the funeral. Coming up behind a girl who was finishing paying her respects Vol waited to go up to the Hokage's ashes. Choking down tears he felt water streaming down his face after he had finally stopped moving. "Why..." He muttered letting the tears fall out with a short gasp, and didn't care about holding back since no one would notice with all the rain. Keeping himself upright he let out every tear that wanted to escape... without another sound.

The nin dogs stood in a row infront of there owner's from the Inuzuka clan. Mistaken as rain, tears began to wash away the red paint on Riku's cheeks that resembled canine teeth. Depressed, he was looking down at the ground because he didn’t want to have to say goodbye. His mom cried out in tears, burying her forehead in his shoulder, and grabbing the side of his face. Umemaru whimpered in the cold rain watching the funeral take place as the pitter patter of raindrops never stopped.

The thunder and lightning roaring and flashing about the landscape, Rai took it as an entrance, as he walked closer towards the monument where he could feel the strongest chakra source. the Hokage was always seen as the strongest in the village, and so it would only be natural for them to have the biggest amount. It was like a beacon, calling to him in this rain. This was his time, no matter what any of them had to say about it. Walking closer, Rai stopped within a hundred yards of the monument, hidden in the shadows by the nin, waiting. He wasn't going to hide the chakra he let pour out of him. He knew he would be felt. And the one he was looking for would be the one to see it first.

Most of the weaker Shinobi at the funeral would begin to become sleepy. Feathers, like heavenly rain began to fall from the sky, masked by its natural counterpart. Rikujin didn't let his Temple of Nirvana Genjutsu take complete effect, as none of the attendees at the funeral fell asleep. However, they wouldn't notice due to their depressed senses. The ninja wouldn't notice their Hokage slipping away through the earth, leaving a Shadow Clone behind.
Reemerging next to Rai, Rikujin placed a hand on his shoulder. "You can explain to me why you have trespassed in this village at another location." He said, keeping an iron grip upon the Raikage, slipping beneath the earth once more. They moved together towards the Forest of Death. Rikujin Katsurou Hokage

Chancey walked solemnlytowards the funeral of the previous hokage. She didn't have anything on her to give in respect, she hadn't expected the Hokage to die so suddenly. Tucking a strand of stray hair over her ears, she stodded over to line up behind the guy she had yelled at in the training grounds. "Hey," She greeted in a low voice. "Sorry for spazzing out at you earlier. What's your name?"

Vol turned to see the girl, and instinctively wiped the tears from his eyes without noticing. "Oh... It was my fault for not checking. I'm sorry, I hadn't noticed I never introduced myself. I'm Vol... Vol Uchiha." He said bowing to her, and smiled feeling a little better. However, he felt a little odd and the rain looked a little white for a second, but he put it in the back of his mind. "May I ask your name?" Vol said politely bowing to her.

Chancey was surprised. Was he crying? she thought. Ignoring that, she said to him, "An Uchiha? Cool." Then added, a bit competitively, "I'd love to spar with you someday, I want to see what's stronger, the Byakugan or Sharingan." She yawned and rubbed her eyes. Glancing back at Vol, she smiled. "I'm Chancey Hyuuga. I know, weird first name, blame my mom." The new Hokage was still standing next to the ashes. She remembered that she had to ask him something. She turned towards Vol. "Do you have a team yet? I need to ask the Hokage about that...I don't have one since I quit being a ninja after graduation."

Vol smiled at the thought of the competition, and nodded. "I'd love to spar with you, it sounds interesting." He said thinking of how the battle would go, and then watched her yawn out of nowhere. "The name's not all that bad, but yeah... It's a little weird." He said cheering up, and began to honestly smile now.
Thinking for a bit Vol realized he hadn't even thought about a team, and started thinking more on it. "You know, I don't... It would be awesome if we ended up on the same team though wouldn't it." He said nodding, and thinking how good of a team the dojustu users would make. "Would you mind if I asked about you quitting?" Vol said politely as possible to get rid of his curiosity.

Chancey smiled. She was starting to like this guy. She waved her hand in the air, addressing Vol's question. "It's just a small thing. I wanted to be a scientist and joined this co-op program. Then after two years, my dad, being the Hyuuga part of the family, guilted me into reconsidering becoming a ninja." she replied easily. "Ya, I wish we were on the same team. We could ask the Hokage about that."

Maiko glanced over at the people talking, finding it a bit disrespectful, especially considering the place. She turned around and walked off, but not before bowing to the new Hokage. She walked slowly in the rain, deciding that she would find something to eat.

Rikujin felt it was time to give his Eulogy for the Hokage. He cleared his throat, calling attention to the front of the procession. As the crowds grew quiet, he kept his silence for a moment, gathering the feelings and thoughts he felt would most support the village during this awful time.
The crowd grew silent as the sound of the rain overtook the remaining chatter. He let the sound sink in...
"Today shouldn't be a day for grieving." Rikujin began, his voice sounding somewhat weakened. His gray eyes scanned across the crowd, making eye contact with every single person he could before continuing.
"Today is a day that we should be celebrating the life of our beloved Hokage." Rikujin looked down for a moment, scanning his black suit. "The man who died for your lives was a man beyond description."
"It is for that reason that I won't be speaking about him beyond this statement." Rikujin said, his eyes becoming intense. "I shouldn't have to tell you about this man. It is our memories that will keep him alive in our hearts!"
Rikujin's words began to swell. "Keep this man in your hearts as we have our Will of Fire light the path that we lead through the darkness of sorrow!"
Rikujin's words were filled with wisdom beyond his mere age of 17. "I will not promise you riches or land..." He said. "But I will promise you this:"
"It is that very Will of Fire, the burning spirit that fuels this village, that will keep us alive! We will strive forward through the harshness of winter and venture through the haze of deception!"
Rikujin paused, allowing the villagers to take in these words. "I want you to think about what this village means to you... As a home... As a community... And as a family."
The rain seemed to stop. The clouds began to filter away, revealing the blazing sun. Illuminated by the fiery sphere in the sky, Rikujin said his last few words. "Because, to me,"
Rikujin shed his suit, revealing his white cloak. "This village is my family! I will do everything in my power... No... I will make the impossible possible, so that I can protect the people of this village!" Rikujin Katsurou Hokage

Vol stood clapping with new found tears in his eyes after the new Hokage's speach. He could tell that he was close to the previous by the way he talked, and could feel every bit of emotion pouring from his voice. This was a very powerful speech he witnessed today, and felt like he would never forget it. Turning to look back at Chancey he smiled kindly, and nodded to her. "Yeah, I really think we should ask him. I hope you find your time as a ninja enjoyable, and I hope to share it with you." Vol said honestly still feeling the emotion deep within him as he imagined the future, and no longer felt the sorrow of their loss.
