Dimitri was on patrol his nose sniffing about for new scents, his eyes darting about alert to every movement. An ear perked and he paused, there was something new on the borders of the territory. Dimitri was enjoying his life among the wolves of the Akiiki Chibale pack, he served Twix the beta female and she was a good friend to him. The two worked together as a harsh tactical team, but Dimitri didn't mind her gruff orders, he knew she acted out of love, and it made him feel like a part of the family though he knew the wolves were not.
From puphood Dimitri had fended for himself never knowing his parents or siblings if he had any. He hunted alone, lived alone, until one day his paw had caught in a human trap and agonized he had prepared to die alone. The sensation of dying alone was miserable, luckily for him Alas the alpha of the Akiiki Chibale had come along and freed him. Unluckily she then carried him off to her then apprentice Adolfo and proceeded to 'fix' his broken paw earning Dimitri's utter disdain. He escaped certain she had crippled him, but weeks later the paw was good as new and he grudgingly forgave the two wolves, shortly after he found Twix, well she found him trying to steal her dinner. Luckily the she wolf decided he would make the a good scout and their friendship and dislike for Alas kept them together. Of course the truth was they both respected Alas, maybe even loved her, she was hard not to get along with after a while, and he owed his ability to walk to the pink wolf.
"Come on out I know your 'round" He finally barked out firmly, he just knew there was someone about, smelled like another fox!

Inanna had been far to curious not to set foot outside the comfort and protection of the den. It had not taken her long to sneak out, though it had been an amazing feat since she often gave herself away due to her far to giggly ways. It wasn't often that one couldn't find her, after all she was just a ball full of giggles. Still some of the vegetation about made it easier to blend in with the scenery, unfortunately she'd probably never make a good spy due to loving to laugh so much. In fact, she was sitting beneath a large fern, the leaves of which covered her from view. She'd been quiet up until then, but when the other demanded that someone show themselves a little giggle escaped her. A tiny tinkling sound.
She waited for someone to appear, but when no one did, she wondered if perhaps it had been she he had heard. She would not have thought it possible, for up until that moment she'd made not a sound, at least she didn't think so. However she had moved a little and caused the foliage to rustle, indicating that if it were not the wind, then someone else had to be there. Deciding to show herself she pounced out from the nearby fern toward the other foxes feet with a giggle and a wiggle.

Dimitri was startled, his hackles raised and his teeth flashed until he realized...it was a puppy. No not a pup, smaller, a kit, a little female fox kit. He snorted and lowered his lips over his teeth, his fur smoothed back down and he peered at her curiously. "What are you doing out here little thing?"
He looked around expecting to see the adults nearby, it was strange he hadn't interacted with other foxes, he was too used to the wolves that loomed over him. "You shouldn't be here, this is a pack...a wolf pack."

Inanna looked up at the unfamiliar fox, he did smell... unusual. She wasn't used to strangers, but she didn't feel at all uncomfortable. She had not yet learned the follies of going up and speaking to strangers or even being away from the den. Were she not careful, or at least very lucky someday things could end quite terribly for her. Still she was just a kit and had a lot to learn, though it was difficult for she was always more interested in play than hearing rules, always giggling too.
Although, having looked up at him, she felt only a moment of apprehension from the way he held himself and flashed his teeth. However he seemed to hide them once more and ask her a question. She weaved between his forelimbs, or at least tried to, with a laugh. "Esplorin' an' pwayin'." Her vocabulary, pronunciation and sentence structure needed work, but she would learn over time and the words would form easier as time went on by.
She blinked and tilted her head. Had she heard those words before, if she had she couldn't recall. She'd probably not been paying much attention if either her parents had mentioned it. "Whatza pack, whatza wolf?" She wiggled her tail behind her, watching the older fox curiously, wanting to know what he was talking about. As long as she wasn't distracted by even an ant or fluttering of a leaf or bug she'd pay attention.

"You mean EXploring and PLAying...your too small to be away from your parents" He grumbled and watched bewildered as she giggled and tried to weave around his paws. Really now such childish behavior, he was utterly confounded. He had seen the wolf pups play of course, they tumbled and romped but they were his size not...tiny.
He eyed the kit again and tilted his head "A wolf, their like us but bigger, dangerous! Don't you know anything? If you don't know about the world you shouldn't be wandering about in it. A pack is where a lot of wolves have claimed the territory, and this territory is claimed by the Akiiki Chibale wolf pack."
He looked around again hoping to see two adults come searching for their kit, but no such luck it seemed...

The teal-green kit tilted her head up, when she heard him speak. "E-e-ex-plo-rrr-ing and P-lay-ing." She gave a tiny snort and giggled. That was far to difficult for her to pronounce, or at least it took to long to get it even close. It wasn't something which worried her over much as she fell onto her side, rolled onto her back and tried to bat at him with one of her forepaws. "Whets pway." She did have the most trouble with l's or letters that were not often used in words she could pronounce, such as the letter x.
She listened for a moment, stilling as he spoke of what a wolf was. "Bigger dan you?" she blinked. She'd never seen anything so large. She had thought her parents big and hoped to be their size someday, but something that was even bigger than they were. It piqued her interest. "Danserous?" her ears perked as she thought, wasn't that bad? The others words he said she ignored, or hadn't heard as she assimilated information from some of the earlier words he had said.
With a little shrug she rolled over onto her stomach and got up stumbling backwards a little, before righting herself. Then with a bit of inspiration she ran around the older fox, giggling the entire time.

He hoped for a moment she was grasping his words, but then she giggled and he grumbled. Great, just his luck, a kit without her parents. What was he supposed to do now? A voice in his head told him to just continue his patrol and leave the giggling kit to her own devices, but the truth was...he just couldn't. He had lived in the Akiiki Chibale pack for quite some time now and learned to care for others, learned to protect the young, that applied to this defenseless kit.
"Yes yes much bigger than me, four times the size of any fox! They could eat a fox the way we eat mice, like a snack!" He bared his teeth and growled fiercely trying to impress the danger upon her. Her running was making him quite dizzy and cross, such an exasperating creature this kit was!

Inanna could not fathom the idea of a creature so big that it could eat her as though she were little more than a mouse. She wasn't a mouse, she was a little kit, like her four litter mates. She wondered if perhaps any of them might have followed her at some point afterward. Her parents would certainly notice she was gone after awhile if there was not so much giggling. Maybe though they'd believe her to be asleep. How she abhorred having the need to sleep, for there was so much to do and to see.
She blinked at his expression, stumbling over her feet, quickly she righted herself and continued to run around him. She was having fun, that was all that really mattered to her, not really comprehending to well the idea of wolves and the danger they might pose to her. "Pwetty taiw." she giggled as she swated her paw at it. "Pway tag wiff me!" she demanded rather than asked, as little ones were often wont to do. "You bes it!" She jumped back with another giggle.

Tag? She wanted him to play tag with her? Did he look like some young foolish kit? His brow furrowed and he watched as she swatted his tail, oh honestly!
"Fine, one game of tag and then you go home!" Perhaps that would get the little thing out of his fur. Oh and he was supposed to be 'it' hmph the indignity of it all. What compelled him to agree to such childish games, he didn't even allow the wolf pups to play such silly games with him. He was a full grown fox, and important scout, he had someone to report back too!
"Ugh! No no tag! We will not play games, you will be quiet and I'll find your parents and take you home, and then you'll stay there!" He finally ground out in sharp barks.

Inanna loved tag, although she preferred to be the one that wasn't it, just so she could outwit and trick whomever might be trying to tag her. It was great fun too, having to use what cunning and wit she had as just a little kit.
Her tail began to swish and sway like crazy when he said they could have one game. She paid no attention to the one or home part. Before he had even spoken she zipped past him toward a berry bush. She couldn't hide, but that way lay from what she'd seen of it a few places to ply her tricks on. However when he barked at her she stilled and gazed back at him.
He had startled her, tears stinging her eyes as she gave a distressed yip as though she'd been physically hurt rather than just startled and frightened by his tone. It was such a rare occurrence, that were she close enough for her parents or siblings to hear, they'd know something definitely wasn't right at all. It wasn't what he'd said that had upset her, but the way he had said it. Her wail was loud and piercing, the exact opposite of her tinkling giggles for which she was usually known by those who actually knew her.

Dimitri's eyes widened and he looked around confused before darting over to her. What-what in the world was wrong with it! Her! What had he done? Was she hurt perhaps? He nudged her and frowned at her tears and the wails she made.
"Hey! Hey now...come on stop that, why are you crying?" He tilted his head utterly confused and frowned. "Your not hurt, so stop that, crying attracts bad attention, BAD." He said firmly.

Inanna sniffled, her teeth chattering as she whined. She didn't know why he'd used such a big voice, but it had been scary, to scary for her. At that moment she did wish she was back in the den with her siblings and parents, where they could comfort her. She wasn't even sure how far she had wandered, or how to even get back. She'd made to many zigzags and her sense of direction wasn't yet all that good.
When he came over to her, she backed away, glaring up at him. "You bad! Very bad, bad, bad. BAD!" She tried to growl at him, but it was more like a squeak. "I gonna teww my Dadah on you!" her eyes darted first in one direction and then another, panic entering her eyes. Which way was home?

He grumbled at her when she backed away, honestly the silly little kit acted as if HE were the enemy! Didn't she see he was trying to get her safely back home? His ears folded back in annoyance before he gave a soft huff and rolled his eyes.
"Yes well you would have to FIND him first now wouldn't you? And your probably quite lost, so stop your bawling and come along. I'll help you find your way home and maybe you'll have the good sense to stay there." He frowned then realizing how hard he probably sounded, probably like Twix did when she talked to those she cared for...
He tried to soften his voice and moved a bit closer to the kit. "Don't cry...come and I'll show you a trick you can use when you play hide and seek with your siblings, don't you have siblings?"

The little kit gave a snort, when he asked that first question, rolling her own eyes. Still she was lost and her stomach had already begun to growl uncomfortably. She'd been away far to long it seemed, and she had expended more energy in those few short extra minutes or longer walking to where she'd gotten to than she would have back at the den.
"I not wost, but you can eshskirt me home. Then my Dadah can bite you." She gave a giggle just at the thought. What a handful she was turning out to be, though she didn't realize that that was the case. She was just to curious for her own good, it wouldn't be so bad perhaps had she been older and wiser, stronger than she was. "I not staying in the den my 'hoe wife!" She glared at him again, thinking that that was what he meant. "When I am big, I wiw hunt you down an' eat you!"
She gave a sigh when next he spoke, stifling what was left of her tears and sniffles. "Weally?" Now siblings, there was a question. "Uh-huh. I has two sisters and two brovers. My sisters is Demi and Lookaz. My brover is Rift. Our big brover is Trouble." She didn't realize yet that Trouble was somehow different, but he was rather big. She couldn't think of him any other way than as a brother though. "An' I is Inanna."

"Well I'm Dimitri, and I'm going to show you how to follow a scent trail. You see everything smells just a little bit different, a little bit unique, and you left a unique little trail that you can only find with your nose." He leaned in to give her one little snif before putting his head down and following the scent back to where she had been hiding.
"See you were here, and if I just follow your trail, well get all the way back to your den. this is how your mom and dad would probably find you...soon, but we'll just go back and you can surprise them."
