The young Juve lioness had curled herself up at the base of a tree, her body pressed against the bark as she stared at up at the sky. She wished she was able to climb the tree she laid next to, to get her that little bit higher into the sky, but it wasn't possible. Her legs were shaky and she was tired, but she wouldn't sleep.
Dawn was breaking around her, the stars fading from the nightsky, making her whimper. Why were they leaving her again? The Juve didn't feel at home during the daytime, it was too bright and too barren. At night, it was like the world came alive in the sounds of the nocturnal animals around. Not to mention, there was something...comforting about the stars above her, the mother moon watching over her through the night. It was like how a mother watched over her cub, protective but knowing to keep her distance and let her grow on her own.
But...she didn't want to be on her own. Shaking her head, she watched the sunrise with a look of boredom. The colours should have impressed the dull pelted lioness, but there was nothing beautiful to her about the sunrise. The sunset was gorgeous, on the other hand, when it gave way to the stars which kept her company.
What was so special about the stars? She didn't know. All she knew was they made her feel safe and the feeling of watching them as she fell. From where, she didn't know. She hated it. She didn't know so much! She wanted to know where she came from, why did she look so alone when she saw the stars twinkling above, just out of reach?
Resting her head down on her paws, she whimpered, closing her eyes. The darkness of her own eyelids reminded her of the night sky, a small comfort at least, as the day broke around her.

Keena rested comfortably, her muzzle resting lightly on her soft cream-tipped paws as she slept. Her body was still, golden eyes closed and every inch of her relaxed. Occasionally an ear would perk slightly, in response to some sound, but always it relaxed to lay back with its mate. Her coat, with its pale tan and cream markings and soft warm golden spots, all but glowed in the silvery white light of the fading moon.
Stars winked and shone unwatched above her head as she dreamed, dawn's rosy fingers stretching out into the deep blue and velvety indigo of the night. The lioness seemed content for the moment, breathing softly and laying still, lost in the happy wanderings of dreams. But, soon, the golden sunlight would replace the cool moon-glow, and she would flutter into warm wakefulness. Soon. But not quite yet.
The hare lay stretched out on her side in the creeping dawn. Occasionally a small white paw might twitch, or a long black ear would flick, her eyelids fluttering as she dreamed. But the twitches and flicks came with more and more frequency as the night had worn on, a few small whimpers escaping her as she squirmed her way away from the warmth of the lioness she'd settled down to sleep beside.
Most hares would have found sleeping besides a big feline a good reason to be restless. But not Kisun. No. What was upsetting Kisun... it had already happened. A long, long time ago.
Flanks heaving slightly, she looked around before rubbing her usually bright blue eyes with an impatient paw. Right then. Enough sleeping for her. With barely a glance at Keena, the lioness was used to her disappearances by now, she hopped to her feet, shook herself briskly, and started off.
It was a random direction, it usually was, chosen simply because Kisun thought it might be fun to dig around in the roots of the tree she could see in the distance. The dew on the grass dampening her paws as she bounced, Kisun paused ever now and again to lick at a few of the drops. It was less because she was thirsty, and more because it was fun to do. So it took her a bit of time to reach the tree... but when she reached it...
The hare rose up on her hind legs, tiny black nose twitching. Someone was there already. All curled up in a pale ball of fluff at the base of the tree. Her head tipped one way, than the other, ears flopping comically from side to side. A bit bigger than a cub. But oh well.
It seemed curiosity didn't kill the cat...and hopefully it wasn't going to kill the Kisun any time soon. But, bold as brass, she hopped right up to the sleeping lioness, leaning over her quietly.
"Are you awake?" she asked suddenly, looking cheery at the thought. It was as if her nightmare, or rather, her memory, had never woken her from what could have been a peaceful night's sleep.

The small juvenile cub had not been asleep, but that did not mean that she had heard the older rabbit approaching while she had her eyes closed. The Juve was not used to being alone, so she had not yet learnt to watch out for herself. It was something she would have to learn, and learn quickly, if she was going to survive on her own, else she would find herself in danger.
At the sound of the others voice, the young female started, her eyes flying open and she unconsciously pressed herself against the tree she rested near. The defensive gesture was almost automatic, hinting at something that had perhaps taught the child to be weary of strangers or of being caught sleeping while everyone else was awake.
Her breath caught in her throat, but when her eyes locked on the female rabbit, she seemed to relax. "Hello," he voice was soft and lyrical, almost as if it would disappear if the wind blew too loudly. "Y-yes," she stammered lightly, peering curiously at the rabbit. "Why?"

Kisun blinked, cocking her head slightly as the small lioness jumped and looked about to come right out of her pretty white fur. Well...that was a change of pace. A little lioness like her, scared of a bunny. Not that Kisun hadn't been quite scary once or twice, but she certainly wasn't being scary now!
"Good!" the hare said cheerfully once the young lion had stammered that she was awake. "Because my friend is still sleeping," she explained, "And I wanted to play...do you want to play?"
Of course she did! What a silly question. Everyone liked to play, even if older folks might have a harder time admitting to it. But this one wasn't much more than a cub, and cubs ought to love to play!
"My name's Kisun," she added, just in case the girl was afraid of strangers. Because, of course, now she wasn't a stranger anymore! She was a Kisun! Yes! Very good.

The young lioness had never seen a rabbit up close, not that she remembered at least, though sadly she did not remember a lot in her young age. She should have had visions of playing with parents, she knew but she didn't. She knew the 'normalities' she should have had but she simply couldn't remember her own. Whens he closed her eyes, instead of seeing the family she would have left behind had she been normal, she saw the stars. Each glimmering dot, each bright shine, was like a family member to the child, she knew each characteristic of the stars and knew who they were, though she didn't know their names.
She tilted her head at the bunny, looking worried but she was relaxing slightly. Play? She couldn't remember playing. "I don't know how to play," she admitted, shifting uncomfortably. Did one have to know how to play, to play? She didn't know! Ugh, this was so frustrating. So many things she didn't know!
"Kisun," she repeated, softly. It was a pretty name. She opened her mouth to return the favour, but pause, mouth still open. A choked noise came out as she realised something, her mouth clicking shut and a glossy sheen filling her eyes. "I-" she whispered. "I...I don't have a name."

Kisun watched the cub eagerly, though she did spare a quick glance around now and again. She might be big for a little one, which probably meant she was older, but she was still little enough to have a...parent...looking for her. But maybe she was independent! Liked to wander around on her own and see the world with her own eyes.
That was fun too after all.
But then Kisun stared, her blue eyes wide with shock. She...she didn't know how to play? How could a cub...or anyone for that matter. But especially a cub. How could they not know how to play???
"It's not hard, I could...show...you..." the hare trailed off as the little lioness' eyes seemed to take on that sheen that usually meant tears were about to follow. Uh...oh... "No name?" Kisun blinked, then frowned slightly. No parents, no name, no idea how to play and have fun... there was definitely somethign wrong here!
"That's okay!" she hastened to say. Oh, where was Keena, the lioness was better at making people happy than she was. She was mostly just good at having fun. "Uhm... you...you don't need to have one to play," she tried, wondering if there was something else she should have said. "I could call you 'friend' or something. Friend is a nice thing to be, don't you think?"

The young lioness blinked, her tears clouding her eyes as she struggled to remember her name. Why couldn't she remember it? Only young cubs didn't have names! She wasn't a cub! She had to have a name...didn't she? Ooh, what if she hadn't had a family? What if she had been...born alone? That wasn't possible, was it?
She was starting to panic when Kisun's words seemed to break through the fog of worry. She looked worried still, but looked at the bunny with curiousity. "I-I don't?" She whispered, sounding surprised. If you didn't need a name to play, what did you need one for? She looked nervous and shifted.
"I...I like the name Friend..." she whispered, smiling wobbly. "A-am I your friend?" She asked, sounding hopefully. She hadn't had a friend before! or she didn't think she had. Had she really been alone always? If she had been in a family, she should have had a friend before, right? She frowned, struggling to come to grips with the little that she could remember.

Please don't start crying, please don't start crying...
Kisun fretted her paws together as the little one's eyes filled up with tears. Oh dear... Keena was definitely needed for this. Kisun loved children. Adored them. Wanted to play with them, to make them happy and see them laughing in their innocence of the world. She did not want to see them cry, to see them hurt and alone. Something had to be done about this!
"Friend isn't a name exactly...uhm...more like a...like a nickname!" Kisun finally decided, "But it's a nice one. I have another friend, she's nice too! Come on, I'll introduce you. Then you'll have two friends instead of one!"
And then Keena could help figure out what to do. Keena wouldn't be grumpy about being woken up. Keena might be a little innocent herself, but she was better at making people feel better than Kisun was. Kisun was better at playing though. But if this cub was lost, then a lioness would be better than just a hare. Kisun couldn't look after her anyway, Kisun couldn't look after little ones... not at all...

The young lioness blinked at the bunny who was talking to her so nicely and it made her feel safe, despite it was just a bunny and she had a feeling she was meant to do something else when it came to bunnies, and it didn't necessarily involve be-friending them.
"S-so I still don't have a name?" She whispered, sounding worried. She had a nickname, but that wasn't the same as a real name. She wanted to have a name, she needed one, didn't she?
"Do you think your friend will like me?" She asked, sounding worried, as she got to her feet slightly wobbly. Her legs looked like they would give out under her small size and she waited for the kind little bunny to show her the way to this new friend, no matter how worried the young lioness was about it.

"Uhm. Not quite yet...?" Kisun tried when the little cub asked if she still didn't have a name. "Nicknames are fun sometimes though!" she hastened to assure the little one, afraid the cub would start to cry. She seemed to be so very worried. And upset. And lost too. Poor little thing. Where was her mother? Surely, she had to have one somewhere... unless her mother was like Kisun's and didn't really care. Or like Keena's, and just forgot about her by mistake.
Oh, the poor little thing!
"Of course my friend will like you! Keena likes everyone," Kisun assured the cub, leading the way with quick bounds though she paused every few seconds to check on the little one. Make sure she was still following.
"Keena!" she called, shaking the lioness' paw without the usual sort of behavior proper to a rabbit meeting a lion.
Keena twitched as he foot was grabbed, but her utter trust in the world kept her from startling to wakefulness. Sometimes unfortunate things happened, but she didn't feel threatened in the least. So she didn't yelp and swat at the hare waking her up like some would have. Instead, she just blinked a few times and lifted her head with a yawn.
"...Kisun?" she asked, shaking her head as thought to clear sleep from her mind, "What is it?"
"I found a cub," Kisun hissed at her sleepy friend. Nevermind that Keena was fully capable of eating her in a single gulp. Or maybe two, Keena wasn't exactly huge for a lioness. Well, she was physically capable of eating her. Keena probably couldn't actually bring herself to do it though. So there was no need for the hare to worry. "She's lost, and she doesn't know her name or anything, and I couldn't smell anyone else, and..."
"Okay, okay," Keena hushed her friend, freeing her paw from the hare's grip to rub sleepiness from her golden eyes. Yawning again, the sun was hardly starting to rise, no wonder she was still tired, the lioness rose to her paws and stretched herself out.
"Good morning," she said sweetly as the cub approached. A warm smile spread across her features, she loved meeting new people. She really did. Even if she might be a tiny bit muddled from not quite enough sleep at the moment. And Kisun was actually worried, which was really quite worrisome. But that was okay. They'd figure something out.
Certainly they wouldn't leave a little one all alone to fend for herself! Well, not unless she wanted them too...

The small lioness frowned to herself as she followed the bunny, her shoulders hunched. She wanted a name...A real name. What was her name? She had to have one...had she been so unwanted that whoever had birthed her hadn't wanted to name her? She sniffled to herself, but stayed quiet as they approached the sleeping figure of a lion. A big lion. Or rather, she was big to the young juvenile.
She barely heard the other two talking, as she stared down at her paws. In the back of her mind, something was telling her to run. Other lions weren't good! They were dangerous! She sniffled again, and glanced up worriedly when the lioness spoke to her. She...seemed nice. Why was something telling her to run.
"Hi?" The young girl squeaked, looking worriedly up at the elder lioness and glancing towards the bunny for comfort.

Keena blinked at the anxious look and sniffle. Her head swung around, golden eyes searching for the source of the fright before she turned back to the lost little one with a confused expression on her features. What was wrong? There wasn't anything...there...oh...
Instantly, Keena relaxed back until she was laying on her belly once more. Perhaps it was just her size that startled the...well, she seemed a bit old for a cub but still. It felt odd to have her size be an issue, she'd always seemed a bit on the smallish side of average. But if she scared her, then Keena was definitely going to do anything she could to fix it.
"Sorry, is this better?" she asked anxiously. She wanted to help, not somehow cause more harm!
Kisun almost wanted to laugh when the little white lioness was frightened of Keena. It would be mean, so she would keep it to herself. But, oh! The idea of someone finding Keena scary!
"Not to worry, she's a friend too!" the hare explained cheerily, moving to drape herself over one of the lioness' paws. Relaxed. Comfortable. Nothing to fear from Keena, not even sarcasm. "Why don't you tell her what you told me? And then we can figure out a good name for you, okay little friend?"
As if the hare had any right to call the white cub 'little' but still...

She relaxed a little, when the bigger lioness laid down, reducing her size even though the younger one knew that she wasn't as big as some. She noticed the female's anxiety and frowned, feeling guilty. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be afraid of you," she whispered, her shoulder's hunched a little.
She was glad when the bunny seemed to realise her fear and calm her down a little. "I'm sorry," she told the bunny too, feeling horrible that she started off meeting a new friend by being afraid! She was ruining things. "I don't have a name," she told Keena, her eyes wide, as she tried to figure out what the bunny wanted her to say. "Kisun says that's okay though and is calling me friend but that's a nickname, not a real name. I think I should have a name." She paused suddenly, and glanced down at her paws. "I...don't know where my family is...do you?" She asked, looking up at the elder lioness worriedly. Was it something she should know?

"It's alright," the lioness soothed as the poor cub apologized again. She was bigger, it frightened little creatures sometimes. Usually things that expected to be eaten, for which she felt guilty. But she didn't want to starve to death herself. But she didn't kill the tiny ones, it wasn't worth a life for a mouthful!
"You don't remember one?" Keena asked softly, glancing at Kisun. No other traces of anyone else there? Poor dear... "Well...what do you remember? Is there something that feels familar? Someplace that's more comfortable?" Little clues that might help find the past, or at least help her to choose a good name.
Wahdi had been on a quest to find a name. Perhaps this little one wouldn't feel so lonely if she knew that some believed in letting go of their name to find a new one, a knowing of themselves.
Kisun just shrugged when Keena looked at her. If she'd caught a whiff of family, would she have brought the cub back here? No, she'd have gone looking for parents. Though, if parents were not suitable, she'd have brought the cub to Keena. The very gods might bring the lost and hurt to Keena, because Keena would love and cherish every single one no matter what.
"Don't worry, you're with us now," the hare informed the white cub cheerfully, bounding a bit closer to press her warm little body against the older cub's fur. "It'll be alright."

The young lioness stared down at the ground, looking worried that she couldn't remember anything. She felt almost like she was letting them down by not remembering. She paused. "F-familiar?" She asked, her voice shaking a little. She bit down on her tongue, as she concentrated, before shyly glancing at the elder lioness. "Stars. I...don't feel...alone when I look at them. I like looking at them." She gave a wobbly smile. "I can remembering seeing them as I fell...from where, I don't know, but I love how they look at night, lighting up the sky."
She startled, pulling away from the hare as she moved over to her, but she relaxed, when she realised that it wasn't an aggressive move. "Thank you," she said quietly, resting her cheek on the bunny's head, trying not to squish her ears badly but taking comfort from the warmth.
