Oh jeez.

Sadly, I've experienced a lot of similar Geography Fail with people I know. gonk Especially my mother, she seems to experience it... quite often. Love her dearly, but the things she says sometimes make me facepalm.

Mine is like this, don't worry. Haha.

I especially like the last example of why Americans shouldn't travel - the one where the person wants to go to Buffalo but instead says 'Hippopotamus' because "[He] knew it was a big animal!"

The Danish vs Dutch thing messes a lot of people up; it's understandable yet annoying. whee

Luckily I have never known anyone who has been the victim (that I know of) of a major Geography Fail.

Oh, you didn't know anyone who first thought the news stations were talking about the state Georgia instead of the country when Russia invaded?

I avoided talking about it with most people for fear that they would mix it up. whee That was 1/3 of the people I know, another 1/3 knew the difference but didn't care, and the last bit were all in my history class with me and nobody mixed it up.

I was playing a game of airsoft outside with my friends and we were calling it world war three. Then another of my friends came running across the street freaking out and saying, "It's world war three."
So I was trying to tell her it was just a game of airsoft and we weren't seriously trying to plunge the world into war.
Then she was like, "Russia just invaded America."
XD

My Aunt has thet worst geography fails though. She called me for help once because she was at parent night at her son's school, and she couldn't find bosnia on the map. So I told her it was in Europe. Then she asked me where Europe was. rolleyes

My mom does this too. D: She doesn't seem to understand that The Netherlands and Denmark are two completely different countries. Sweden and Switzerland, too.
