So wait, now what? Xai stared down at the little box in her hands. It was so little and light it was hard to imagine there was actually something inside it. Curious indeed, what was inside it? It was a small box, it couldn't have been very large. Jewelry, perhaps? Or maybe it was like Ursonataen technology and it could fit things as big as a house in it, and lifting the lid would release the item.
But that was just silly! How would Switch get her hands on Ursontaean technology?
The girl sighed and looked around to find where she was, she'd just been wandering aimlessly wondering where she should go. The strange little creature had told her where to go but now she couldn't remember! Damn. A sign caught Xai's attention and she tilted her head, staring at the words. Java Joe's? So this was Java Joe's...house? How peculiar that Java Joe would have to put a sign on his own house! It was possible he had a bad memory and so needed a reminder that the house was his. Whatever the reason Xai felt drawn to it, walking straight up to the door and holding her hand up to knock on it. But wait! There was another sign! ...Open?
...Oh! This was a store! What a weird name for a store. Shrugging to herself, Xai opened the door and peeked in. It was rather empty, wasn't it? Was it truly open? "Hello?" She stepped into the building and let the door close behind her, walking up to the counter as she looked around. Chairs, tables...so this was a food establishment? Curiouser and curiouser! "Is there anyone here?"

Nowele, a woman of almost five feet, is behind the counter that has all of the dainty pastries on display. She peeks up from behind her fuzzy hair. It appears she was doing a crossword puzzle out of the newspaper; it's a very slow day at the coffee shop, with only two regulars at tables far from the doors.
She perks right up at the entrance of a new face. "Hello! Welcome to Java Joe's. How may I help you?"

"Hello! Is Java Joe your father?" Xai asked with a bright smile. She didn't mean any offense by it, but this lady was so tiny! Like a child! And her hair was so soft! Why was this little girl all by herself in the middle of this place? There were strangers! "Help me? Umm...well...I'm looking for someone!" She tapped at her chin with one hand and held the box out in the palm of her other. Yes, she needed to find someone and get this box to them. Her blue and pink eyes turned up to the ceiling for a moment and then down at the box, then the girl.
...She would do!
"Would you like this?"

Nowele is taken aback. Not by the question, which she hears more often than she'd like, but by the woman's spontaneous generosity.
"Er, uhm?" she stammers, looking from Xai to the package. "Why? What's in it?"
She looks around for the only other employee, but can't find him anywhere, conveniently. She sighs, and moves closer to Xai, pulling off her apron as she does. "Is it for someone in particular?"

What was in it? Xai blinked and turned her blue and pink gaze down at the box in her hand, looking honestly curious. It was clear just from the look on her face that she didn't have any idea what was in the box. "I don't know~!" She told her honestly, turning back to the girl behind the counter with a big smile. That was the point of a box like this, right? It was a present. A surprise. Surprises were no fun if everyone knew what was inside!
"Ummm...it's for you!" Xai held her hand out, offering the girl the box. "I am Xai! And you are um...the...owner of this box~!" She lifted her hand a little. Take it. Taaaaake the box.

"O-okay.." Nowele stammers incredulously. She accepts the box, for whatever reason is beyond her, other than perhaps a natural curiosity. But if it turned out to be a bomb, she'd be SO angry at herself for this.
She turns and sets it down behind the counter, juuuust far enough away, she guesses, from what might be a lethal bomb range for something that size. "I'm Nowele," she continues to say. "Do you always give strangers presents, Xai?"

Xai watched curiously as Nowele set the box far away from her. She wasn't going to open it? Did she not want it?
...Oh well! She had it now! No givesies backsies as Evari would say! She had done what she was asked (and hypnotized) to do, the box had been given to a new owner. The girl blinked when she was told a name, turning her gaze back to Nowele when she introduced herself. That was a nice name! She shook her head and smiled, folding her hands behind her back and stepping back away from the counter. "No I don't~! It's a special present, 'kay? Can't give it back!" Her smile turned to a grin. Okay, that had been easier than she thought. This meant...
This...this meant she was FREE! For the rest of the day anyway. Xai suddenly gasped, her hands flying to her mouth as the realization hit her. Evari was with Switch, and this meant Xai could do things! Without a headache! It was a miracle! And she was going to take advantage of it. "It has been very nice meeting you, Nowele! Enjoy your present, okay~? Open it when you can!" The Ursontaean chirped, waving to the girl as she turned on her heel and skipped out of the shop. A shame she couldn't meet Java Joe but perhaps she'd come back some other time. But her job was done here, the box was given away and that was all she was asked to do. "Well...goodbye!" And with that Xai slipped through the door and looked around once she was outside. She could do whatever she wanted now...so she lifted her arms in the air and ran off in a random direction with a happy cheer. She didn't know where she was going just that she was going somewhere not the curio shop.

And just like that, the mysterious gift giver was gone. Nowele drops her face into her palm and heaves a sigh. Sure, she probably should have opened it with the girl there; it would have made sense that, if it's a bomb, the bomb-giver wouldn't want to be around for the explosion. Maybe.
The curiosity gets the best of her midway through her shift, as no more than three people pop in and out of Java Joe's through that time. She opens the box, and is thoroughly surprised by the contents.
A 1950's television set. It must have been gutted, with the weight that it is, or she had just assumed TV sets had always been heavy. She cracks a smile as she pulls the thing out of the box and sets it down adjacent to the doorway. It's a nice colour, really retro shape. The girl was probably just finding a creative way to get rid of her junk. She'll have to remember that one for her next spring cleaning!
A customer enters, but Nowele's mind is still idly thinking of the television. Wonder if it works..?
