Feeling her way through the den, Mzuka felt the soft dirt smother the bases of her paws. It was early, to say the least, but Mzuka was wide awake. She always got up this early, to see the stars fade into the sunlight of dawn. It was her very favorite time of day; that, and dusk. She always made sure to sprawl out in the dew-covered grass, light blue eyes staring straight up into the dark blackness of the sky. The little shining dots would twinkle at her for awhile, and then the soft orange glow of the sun would peek over the horizon. While it would be sad to see the sras fade, it was a beautiful sight to behold.
Tip-toeing in the open gaps between her sleeping siblings, Mzuka used her hybrid tail to balance herself from falling. When she finally made it to the mouth of the den, she gave a quick glance upward, happily eyeing the bright stars scattered against a dark backdrop. She smiled, and padded down to a soft spot in the grass that was sprinkled with white flowers. Plopping down backwards, a light puff of petals shot up, only to gracefully float back down. Her eyes were glued straight up, and she relaxed, waiting for the show to begin.
