Here's a working concept, that I made to test sun exposures, where corn replaces grain amaranth, because it is the best height analog.

They're totally cool with me doing this, because they're too lazy to dig up the hard Virginia clay and do anything with it.
I'll be growing fava beans in front of the eggplants on the trellis(Which you can't see all that well.
Actually, here's a list of plants, half of them are heirloom. My focus was on companion planting, to encourage a kind of plant synergy.
Grain Golden Amaranth(Represented by corn stalks)
Black mammoth confectionery sunflower seed
Roma VF tomatoes
Rosita Eggplant
Fava Beans(Not pictured)
Basil(Under the tomatoes)
Yarrow(Not pictured
Tashkent Marigolds(In front of the trellis and next to the tomatoes)
Garlic chives(Between half of the carrot rows)
Cosmic purple carrots(Under the fava beans and mixed with the garlic chives. Beans and alliums don't mix, though, so not both at once.)
Jewel Nasturtiums(Multiple varieties) (Almost everywhere)
And yes, there will be an AC unit in the middle of my garden.
There was already a crab apple tree there when we moved in(13 years ago), and I don't think I'd be allowed to do away with it.
