The night stood empty, the full moon at a permanent standstill with the smoky-grey clouds overcast.
Not that Sailor Algol even remotely cared about the condition of menial smoky-grey clouds: she was on a mission. There were so many questions that had been left unanswered since the first time she was granted her powers, and so much more she needed to know as to why. After all, it was only after the why that she could learn the 'how'.
And it was at that exactly place and time that Sailor Algol currently stood, arms folded, impatiently peering down from a remotely higher building flat at what would ultimately be her domain. Missing-suited-maids-on-vacation-leave-minions aside, she felt a little more alone, exposed than usual in the dark. Though, she had nothing to fear, right?

Virgo wasn't going to leave campus. She was just walking outside, patrolling around the building where any Zodiac could hear her, because it was safer to be Sailor Virgo than it was to be Elke Arma. Elke Arma had to deal with her brother's loss; Virgo could get wrapped up in her own loss. It was the first time she'd ever operated under an assumption that "Virgo" and "Elke" were different people, and she didn't really like it. Her mind still drifted to Leo. Poor Leo. He had to be hurting.
Maybe she should go check on him--
Wait. Someone down there? She skittered along the rooftop tiles, peered down to the side of the arts building. Ah, it was another senshi! A kind of stupid senshi, since she was out alone...
She slipped over the side of the building gracefully, landed soundlessly. (Funny, how long-lost talents returned after a shock. Very funny, only not.) "Hello, moon senshi," said Virgo pleasantly from behind the moon senshi with white hair. "What are you up to?" She didn't exactly prowl. That was too animalistic a word for her stride as she moved over to a bench.
Funny, how tragedy could make the long-ago memories come back. (Leo...) "You shouldn't be out alone, the monsters are only getting stronger."

What on-
Her first reaction was to look to the left (where Emily usually stood): and when that yielded no results, she finally turned around, her gaze evenly meeting the other's.
"Moon senshi?" Said even gaze turned into a raise of one eyebrow. "Monsters?" Did the world get more ludicrous after sunset? Granted, she didn't sound like the most intelligent of people one would meet after hours at this point, and perhaps if she had an inkling less of an ego than she did, the senshi of ghosts might have even chanced to wonder where the other had come from, or their threat value. Instead, she was reduced to a simple, what.
Not to mention the other's outfit was nothing like the senshi (and here, she had just recently come to terms with the word) Algol had met in the past. Whomever they were, if they were being nice about it, she wasn't going to pass an opportunity when she saw one. "Ah I see," Algol began, in her most 'I'm being super polite because I want answers' tone, "Sorry I did not have a chance to introduce myself properly. I am Sailor Algol, and as to what I'm doing, well, perhaps you would like to enlighten me as to what I should be doing, other than being lost?"
The sentence itself was said as humbly as she could proffer: had the other senshi known any better they might have recognized it as a tone similar to a child when they are on their 'best behaviour' on Christmas Eve before their presents.

She brushed a dusting of frost off the bench, settled down carefully and then cleared a spot next to her; clearly it was intended for the white-haired senshi, since Virgo herself made no move to take it. "You're new, aren't you," said the bluenette; her tone was nonjudgemental, kind, even. "Probably your cat woke you up and told you your name and ran off, huh..."
Libra had shared her experiences with another sailor senshi. Virgo had not been impressed. Neither had the Princess, or anyone. Were the moon senshi so slow because Astraea was telling them next to nothing?
"I'm Sailor Virgo, Zodiac Senshi of Innocence," she said after a moment, fluffing out the flippy ends of her hair.
That tidbit of information shared, she swung her feet along the tops of the grass; it was sort of dead and brown now, of course. It was not good grass to fall into. She would think about that now. She would certainly not think about anything else. "The monsters--youma, we call them--you must have seen one, to be awakened, Sailor Algol. They feed off the energy of people's hearts."
With a shrug, she said, "I can tell you what I know, if you have time."

The first thing that came to mind at the other's words about 'not knowing anything' was that at least it solved the mystery of the talking cat problem. Algol still failed to see what a talking cat had to do with anything, other than the fact that it made horrendous minion.
Hesitantly, the senshi of ghosts finally approached closer towards this 'Sailor Virgo', giving the bench a rather distressed look before she cringed, sitting downwards, letting the cold platform bite at her thighs. The other senshi seemed willing to talk, and not patronizing in the least: Algol would be missing her opportunity to know the hidden world of this senshi business if she let this one slide. Having a cold butt afterwards was the least of her worries.
First, and after the comments, came the questions to her mind. Human-Mindy had always been a girl of sense (somewhat), and it just never quite made sense to her as to why senshi felt obligated to fight these 'youma'. She chose her words carefully though, not wanting to offend, as seen from past experiences. "Where did these youma come from then?" Yeah, she was going to need information. A LOT more if she ever wanted to know more about her own senshi powers in general. "Well, I really would love it if you could tell me some more details. Noone has told me much, at all. Pretty much all I've been ah, informed, is to use my powers for 'justice', which seems to me a pretty common term."
Algol was on her best behaviour tonight: and that included scoring both sympathy and politeness points. After all, it was best not to make enemies out of potential allies.

Virgo tapped at her lip, thinking. "Well. Youma come from people who have had their starseed taken away, I think. You know what a starseed is, don't you? It's the star in your heart that gives you your power." She traced a crystalline shape in the hair before them, saying, "They look kind of like that. Anyway."
Then she jolted a little, looked at Algol with wide green eyes. "I'm sorry, I know it's cold out, but they have cameras inside the buildings, you know, or we'd go in." She shook her head, thinking on the other senshi's questions. It really was very, very cold. That was like, the story of a senshi's life in winter, she supposed, and a small price to pay for keeping the princess safe.
Poor Algol didn't have a princess. Virgo sighed.
"Justice is a really weird way to explain it," said Virgo. "The Zodiac Guard, we're supposed to hold the line. We Surround and protect, but especially our Princess." She looked back at Algol, smiling in a friendly way. "You're in the Moon Court, which means that your Princess is Princess Serenity. But no one knows where she is, so I guess you have autonomy for now. The Moon Court is supposed to find youma and Negaverse agents and stop them from hurting civilians."
Pause.
"Of course, the Guard does that too," she added hurriedly.

This was one of the few times in her life Sailor Algol wished that she had bought her notebook along, to at least scribble some 'notes for thought', as she generally called them. Or a maid to write them for her, but as both were lacking, she has having quite a struggle attempting to both pay attention and mentally stack the information provided.
She remained, however, fascinated with the concept of star seeds. Algol's impression of Virgo was also that they seemed very dedicated to their line of duty: however, it potentially gave the senshi of ghosts time to ask questions without seeming too suspicious, what was some questions between allies right? "Wait when you mentioned star seeds, is that a figurative term for the embodiment of a soul, or something actually tangible?" After all, she would think she would have noticed by now if people had some sort of star lodged in their heart. This youma thing fascinated her even more. "So who are making these 'youma' anyway?" And really, what cause could possibly be greater than her own?
All in all, the pieces were there, but nothing seemed to add up entirely to Algol. It was as if someone had given her a picture book with no story and she was simply flipping each page hoping to guess the correct answer. She paused for a second, deciding the best plan of action was not to make her ah, guest, feel uncomfortable. "Yes, its best to avoid those cameras, and stay hidden, who knows what sorts of questions people might ask." Sans herself, of course. "I'm guessing the reason I haven't met many other senshi is because of this hidden code of secrecy?"

"They're real," said Virgo, whose grasp of English could sometimes be a little shaky, and so she didn't know how to explain it better. "They're what gives you... you-ness." She gestured vaguely, then set her hands over her knees, chafed at them. It gave an impression of indecisiveness, the way she then lifted a hand and placed it over her Zodiac pendant. "It's here," she said, "in your heart."
For a while, she waffled on the question of the youma, and then in a hushed voice, she said, "The Negaverse." She said it like she thought saying the name would bring an officer to them. Her eyes shifted about, looking around the little courtyard they were sitting in. No Negaverse, which was good; she didn't know if a senshi, so uneducated, could possibly hold off a lieutenant. Even Virgo had had troubles with that red-headed one; well, that would change. She could change. "Someone hasn't told you any of this? Any of it?"
Then she shook her head, fluffed out her hair. "You don't have to be secretive to other senshi. Different senshi have different patrolling patterns, different places they like to be. I'm not here much, for instance, I like to patrol over on practically the other side of the city. But, um. You're a Moon senshi, so patrolling with others in the Moon court is a better idea than patrolling with me."
She seemed to realize what that sounded like, and backpedaled: "Not that it's a bad idea to patrol with me, and I wouldn't not like to patrol with you, it's just that you need a team, the youma are getting so strong!"

Sailor Algol raised an eyebrow, entirely expecting the other senshi to tell her that they were just joking at the mention of star seeds. And then, dropped her defensive reaction entirely at the pure belief in the other's tone. This Sailor Virgo really lived up to her namesake.
So far what Algol had taken could be summarized into a few short conclusions:
1) There was 'some sort of evil' out there, which was somehow, apparently, more evil than she was. This would have to change. 2) There was literally a soul that existed, yet again apparently, on one's body. This was also very juicy information. She briefly wondered what they might look like, the concept of 'star seed' itself just seemed so abstract. 3) Apparently there was a difference between Moon senshi and..some sort of other senshi. Algol guessed this was something similar to different co-existing factions. 4) Minions. She needed to get more of those: patrolling equaled minions as bodyguards, right?
Self-concluded notes prevalent in her mindset, she slowly shook her head at Virgo's question. "Negaverse." The word rolled strangely of her tongue: personally she would have chosen a better name for a rivalling organization, though Sailor senshi wasn't exactly up to par either. "My guess is they are our superpowered rivals?" Algol couldn't keep her dubious tone out of that one.
