So, what is/was your musical inspiration? Mine is my grandpa, he played classical guitar most of his life, including with a well known mexican band called Little Joe y la Familia. It's because of him that I continue to play, he was teaching me for as long as I can remember.

My father is my inspiration. Knowing that he is great at it and is helping me learn to become like him.

I would say the guys that ispired me the most were guitarits like Clapton, Hendrix, Vaughn, Satriani, Page, and Iommi. THose were the guys I was listening to way back when. Now I hear guitarits like Alexi Laiho and go WOW.

Carlos Santana. His music is so soulful and profound it touched me, even though I didn't know anything about guitar. He is my main inspiration and my improvs always come out sounding all Santana-ish.

Jason Becker for me, he was probably the first Shredder I really heard and got into (though I had heard Satch as a little kid). He continuously inspires me with both his playing and with the ALS situation that he's had to live with.

Alice Cooper and his band, as well as just the will to be able to be in/start a metal band someday.

Hendrix, Iommi, any kind of metal during the 70's and 80's. They really inspire me to get better, and now i look at guitarist like Zakk Wylde, Alexi Laiho, the guitarist to Shadows Fall and i'm amazed at their skill.

Oystein I would say the guys that ispired me the most were guitarits like Clapton, Hendrix, Vaughn, Satriani, Page, and Iommi. Agreed. My main inspirations are the Young brothers.. Angus and Malcolm of AC/DC. From there it went into Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, and other guitar gods. picknslap + alero- you guys are lucky to have family members who can teach you. No one in my family plays, and the only close friends I have who play don't know how to do much yet. The closest I can get to an experienced player is my best friend's older brother, and we barely speak inside his house.

My uncle is my inspiration, I couldn't have ever picked up a guitar without hearing him play. He's taught me everything I know now.

My inspiration would have to be Big Dave Gilmour.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond was my main inspiration to learn guitar.
Also people like Eric Johnson, John Petrucci, EVH, et al.
