The conman had actually been out witted this time. No jewels or trinkets hung around his neck . Only a bad cut on his cheek and a few claw marks on his rear. He'd choosen the wrong pride to steal from this time and now he wore marks to show the world his shame.
His cuts were fresh but not gushing with blood. They weren't THAT deep, lucky for Yuan. His face and rear would probably heal if he didn't get him self in anymore trouble.
Usually he was so good at stealing and conning but it seemed that his step was starting to slip. His arts of deception were starting to wear down or something, either that or it was all in his mind. What ever it was the situation just stunk.
The lion settled on a nice cool rock and laid down, licking his paw and then rubbing it on the wound on his face. It stung bad, but Yuan knew he needed to clean it.

 The goddess had been out gathering herbs again, it seemed to be a lot of what she did lately. Val was happy with the haul of plants she found and slowly headed back home to her cubs with her bag full and her spirits high. She wasn't even using the illusion that she used this close to home to hide her wings.
She was in such a good mood she stopped to see what was wrong when she happened upon a blue lion laying on a rock. She saw that blood marred his blue coat in two places, on his rear and face. A quick glance showed that the claw marks weren't all that deep and he had already started to clean the one on his cheek with his paw and saliva.
Now if she had come upon him in a different mood she might have left him alone but since she was in a good mood she stopped a little bit away and pulled her bag off. As she dug in her bag carefully she spoke to the lion, her head down, "That will only help so much and if its possible its always best to use clean water rather then your spit."
"Ah ha!" she said as she used a claw to withdraw a small gourd with a wooden cork. Using her claw she pulled out the cork and sniffed the gourd, "Good its still fresh."

The blue lion eyed the lioness. Were those... wngs? Or a clever decorative item. Yuan couldn't really tell. He imagined they were some sort of charm. His attention didn't stay long on the wings though , because the lioness started to talk. All he could think of was.
"Huh?"
The lion stared blankely at her. Was she giving him advice on how to clean his wounds? Was she trying to help him? Why. What did this lioness have to gain for helping him. Yuan watched her with a blank face. Was she .. after something ? He had nothing this time to offer her..
He was confused.
"What.. what are you gonna do with that?"

When the blue lion asked what Val would do with the gourd and its contents she paused. She realized that she had not introduced herself nor did she explain what she was going to do, something she had not done in a very long time.
Being cautious now not sure how he will react she said, "I mean you no harm, I am a herbalist and have a salve which will help you heal with no scar." She raised the gourd which was hooked on her claw by a small leather thong that was tied around the gourd's neck for just this purpose.
Val didn't even realize that she hadn't actually introduced herself or said that she was the goddess of herb lore. Sometimes she omitted it on purpose but this time she actually forgot that simple polite formality. "Its harmless really, just a mix of crushed herbs and plants mixed with very little water. Its great for preventing infections and it helps healing with little to no scars." She hadn't moved so to let the lion decide if he wanted her help. Her bag was still laying at her feet, the flap open slightly reveling other such 'bottles' and pouches as well as green plants.

The lion lowered his head and looked up at her. Was she serious? The lion couldn't help it, he choked up a small laugh.
"You're really a healer.." He closed his eyes , "I guess I shouldn't bite the hand that feeds. I'm sorry if I seem gruff. " The lion sighed. Kindness to him was always awkward. He'd done so many unkind things that it seemed a little.. poetic some one was actually concerned for him. Yuan deserved to stay scared for life for all his bad doings.
"You're .. strange." He shook his head, "But thank you ."

"When you literally try to bite me for the sting this stuff can inflict then you will seem gruff." Val said as she walked closer being careful to keep the contents of the gourd from spilling. When she reached him she decided to take care of his face first since it was easier for him to reach his rear then his face.
She sat in front of him and placed the gourd at her feet. "Now sit still for a moment." She then used a claw to extract some pale green goo from the gourd, smear it on her opposite paw, then proceeded to apply it to his face with the salve smeared paw.
"Strange recognizes strange you know," she said trying to distract him because depending on how much dirt and grime got in the cut depended on how bad it would sting. (much like using purerel and finding a small cut on your hand)

The male stiffened whe she neared, trying to stay perfectly still. He'd been treated by healers a few times before and knew when they told you to stay still you bloody stayed still. Other wise things could get nasty.
His breathing even shortened some in small breaths. Yuan wasn't going to risk saying anything til she was done. Didn't want to move something and mess her up, specially not when she was working on his face.
His eyes said it all though, I trust you. Which was weird, Yuan didn't trust many. Mainly because he was not one to be trusted.

Val was glad when the male did as she requested and held still as she dealt with his face. The trust that showed in his eyes though surprised her since there were very few that she knew trusted her. For some reason trust had never come up when dealing with others, unless you count them taking your word for truth as trust. Not sure what do say or do about it Val decided to act like there was nothing out of the ordinary with him trusting her, it wasn't like she was not trustworthy.
It didn't take her very long and she quickly went from his face to his rear but offered the gourd to him first. "I figure you might want to apply this part," she said smiling slightly. She wasn't shy about touching his rear after all she was a professional healer or to be more accurate, herbalist, but she thought it might be a good learning experience if he did it himself. "You will have to apply it liberally but it doesn't have to be really thick, just enough for there to be a slight shine to the area." She instructed him so if he did do it he would know what to do.

The lion nodded and did as he was instructed applying it carefully as his paws would allow. It wasnt the easiest of tasks but the lion managed. He felt the tingle on where the gunk touched.
"Does it mean its working if it tingles?" He looked up at the female his eyes open and wide. A little sting could be felt as well, but it wasn't something he couldn't handle. Yuan was a big boy after all and big boys didn't pout.

"Yes, it should sting a bit too. The tingle is from the slight numbing affect and the sting is the antibacterial." Val love this mix because it was one of the most used salves that she makes and all the ingredients were simple for her to find, the only down side was that it didn't retain its freshness as well as some of her other mixes.
Once she inspected his application she nodded and smiled, "You did a good job, you might just be a healer one of these days." She corked the gourd back up and headed over to her bag. She left the gourd out of the bag but pulled a longer thong from the bottom of the bag and looped it through the leather already on the bottle. After tieing off the ends of the thong Val slipped the leather loop of her bag over her head and grabbed the thong in her mouth gently.
Returning to the male she sat back down in front of him, removed the thong from her mouth, and using her paw held out the gourd with the leather 'necklace'. "You might need to reapply this every so often but use it sparingly since if you do it too often it will numb the area more then it was at first."

The lion couldn't help but let a small smile escape him when Val complimented the way he applied the treatment. A healer? Him, it tickled him some. Maybe it was because kind acts didnt happen often to him. Who knew? Yuan certianly hadn't done anything to deserve this lioness's care.
"Thank you, " He accepted the gourd with no attempts to refuse. "I really mean it thank you. One day I hope to repay your kindness."
For once, Yuan truly meant it.

"You are quite welcome." Val said as she got to her feet. When he mentioned repayment Val didn't really know how to react, helping him was not something she did for repayment. In fact there was no time in her memories of her ever requiring repayment for her help, granted she didn't remember much if anything from her past lives, but still.
She almost said to not worry about it when a thought struck her, "Don't worry about repaying me but you can do me a favor. I'm sure that at some point in the future, some where, you will find someone who will need your help some how. Help them. In that way you will have repaid me."

The lion nodded. It was the least he could do after all. Wouldn't feel right accepting help ..... wait this was strange... He usually took what he wanted. What was this repaying crap?
Ah well, he owed this lioness. She helped him for nothing. That meant a great deal of something to him.
"I will," He nodded.

Val was glad that the lion agreed to her 'payment', she knew there was no way she could enforce her promise upon him but she had a feeling that he would do as she asked. "Thank you."
The lioness was debating as to what she should do next, normally she just left but this lion was polite enough that she felt odd just leaving. The wind which was blowing softly but steadily brought a sent to the goddesses nose which made the decision for her. "I'm sorry to cut this short but I have got to go." The sent that she caught a trace of was a plant that she needed but had yet to find, she could have just used her powers to find it but it never really occurred to her. She took a few steps away and did something she rarely ever did, she used one of the powers granted to all gods and Teleported to where her power was telling her the plant was there. One moment she was there and the next, poof.

Yuan blinked. He knew those things on her back looked like some kind of wings. Had she been a spirit or a goddess.
Needless to say the male was more then a little spooked. Why had such a creature come to visit HIM of all things. It didn't matter now, Yuan wanted to get the hell out of there. And he did. Carrying the gift the goddess had given him.
