Since handing most of her videotaping duties over to Alex, Sailor Europa had more time to do actual Senshi things without worrying if she was getting good footage. Hopefully, having proven to Alex that they did, in fact, exist, he would be inspired to go film people who weren't her - Sailor Europa had starred in enough videos to last a few months.

Now back to her beat as a scout with no other simultaneous duties, Sailor Europa had run across a compatriot known as Sailor Libra. The girl seemed agreeable, and both consented that two heads were most definitely better than one, so they continued their patrol together.

All was quiet around the Shufflepuck cafe when Europa descended from the roof to the sidewalk below. She waited for her knew ally to join her and said, "I guess the youma took a night off."

Sailor Libra finished "...Said the British while Washington crossed the Delaware," landing with a 'clack' of her high-heeled shoes. Libra was always edgy on patrol. After an ordeal like Barren Pines, she had to be. However, Europa seemed tolerable, and there was strength in numbers. She gave Libra an advantage, and someone to talk to.

Swinging her scales back and forth, she narrowed her blue eyes and scanned around the café for youma as if her gaze would make them more likely to reveal themselves. "A quiet night doesn't necessarily mean an easy one."

Presently though, as youma failed to appear, she relaxed and leaned against the café wall, scales slung over her arm. There were things about patrolling that she enjoyed. For instance, she had just jumped off a roof like it was nothing. Past life attached or not, Libra definitely had benefits that she could use. Power, and not just power, but more than the average senshi, if Libra's memories were anything to go by. Plus it was sort of invigorating having an alterego. There was a strange sort of freedom that came with not having to be Giselle Petrova, Perfect Student.

If only her father could see her like this. This was a lot more impressive than an 'A' in history.

Pulling herself back into the present, she examined Europa. This was a lull in the patrol, and they should use it. "What's your strong point?" she queried. "If we want to work effectively as a team, we should know how the other attacks."

While Serandite had told him that Destiny City was a stoplight for senshi, it didn’t seem as heavily populated by the Negaverse. In his time, he had only met Serandite and that made up his team experiences. It really was a let down that there wasn’t more group work, but that did not deter the Lieutenant from going off on his own. Patrolling was what he had to do, and he was supposed to be learning. As of yet, he had no success when it came to starseeds, though no one could blame him after just learning where to find them. If he was going to get anywhere, he had to start getting better.

The park had become his safe haven for patrolling, but tonight he took to the streets. Testing out his new abilities, he jumped up on dumpsters and low roofs, trying to perfect the flip. It might not be useful, but after seeing Serandite, he HAD to try it out.

Sticking to the back alleyways, he went for a running start, leaping on the lids of closed dumpsters and metal roofs before leaping up. Flipping in midair, he’d land back down – that is if all things went well. Sometimes he would half twist in the air before catching himself and landing, either on his back or butt. After a few times of colliding with unforgiving concrete, he went back to jumping, keeping to the low roofs. Wolframite and heights were yet to be the best of friends.

After the curious case of the blue elephant and the collapsed trash youma, Europa had taken to paying more attention to what her attack actually did. (Of course, with a name like "Deep Ocean Pressure," it wasn't so hard to figure out.)

"I create atmospheric pressure," she explained, using technical jargon since Libra seemed at least as smart as she was. She bet they'd be good friends if they met as civilians and even went as far as to wonder who Libra really was, but she wouldn't ask, because that was rude.

"It makes youma unable to move, or sometimes just... collapses them, I guess. I've never tried it on a person but it doesn't work on other senshi. "

She peered under a park bench where suspect shadows lurked, but nothing jumped out at her. Huh.

"What's yours?" she asked Libra. She liked the idea of coming up with a strategy a lot.

Libra raised one blonde eyebrow, Europa's skill was an interesting one. "Fascinating." she murmured. "I wonder how it would work on a Negaverse agent?"

Focusing on herself now, she added "I can even out the balance of power between myself and an opponent. However, it's only really useful if they're significantly stronger than I am. When they're not, well, I have pretty good aim with these." She hefted her scales by way of explanation. "Of course, it would help if my target wasn't moving, so I feel we'll do well on this patrol. Do you have any useful combat skills?" Libra hadn't got much beyond the scale-whacking. But she was learning.

She paused, frowning slightly. "On another note- Did you hear something just now?"

Libra: Still edgy.

Further down the alley came the crunch of gravel as someone approached, but with each step, the alley remained vacant. Coming closer and closer, it continued, until a dark shape traveled on the top of one of the roofs. Rubbing his back, the Lieutenant might have been mistaken for a sailor with all the bows, but even in the low light of a nearby billboard, his black military showed the military design that was famous for the Negaverse.

The number one lesson he learned was to be discreet, but heading home, he felt he had a degree of freedom considering how high up he was and the time of night. In his mind, he already clocked out for the night and was thinking of heading home and maybe sneaking into the kitchen to raid the fridge. Wondering if they still had Grape Juice in the fridge, he turned to the ledge to hop down before pausing.

Two girls together. Two girls who were dressed in what Serandite would call “gorgeous outfits”. Two senshi.

“Oh.” From what he knew of senshi encounters, this was the part where he was suppose to start fighting. Rising up, he slowly held out his hand as a jump rope appeared. Armed - sorta.

"I can, um, kick things? Sort of?" ventured Europa quietly. That was a 'no.' You'd think she would have invested in some decent self defense courses by now - she'd been at this long enough and all that, but nope. Maybe that ought to be on her list of things to do.

"Negaverse...?" she asked. She'd heard them come up once or twice, but still had yet to actually encounter one herself, beyond the girl in gray that night at Meadowview. Maybe she should grill Libra about it, since the other girl seemed knowledgeable about the subject. Oh man, she had so much to learn, and her new friend seemed like as good a place to start as any! "Who're they--"

At Libra's prompting, though, she trailed off, falling silent and standing still to try to listen. Yeah, yeah, she heard it too, she thought.

Europa nodded. "I think I did," she agreed.

Libra's voice dropped to a barely audible whisper. "Immobilize anything that jumps out at me. Stay with your back against the wall."

Picking up her scales with a jingle of golden chain, Libra walked farther out until she was plainly visible to anyone watching. Quietly, she stretched out to yawn. Despite the fact that Europa could attack anything that came at her, she was still tense. Whatever had made that noise might have been nothing, but she had known Europa for all of a few hours. She didn't know if she could trust her or if something would go wrong with the attack, but if it did, Libra would just have to make things work somehow. She had survived before, after all, and years of studying conquerors had made her fairly confident about combat, even if it was perhaps misplaced. In the end, no matter how many times one read about Agincourt, it wasn't the same as actually planning it.

Either way, this was no Agincourt. This was just a gamble to see if there was actually danger waiting for the improvised Senshi team on this chilly night.

It didn’t take an idiot to see that he was outnumbered, and there was even the option of turning around and heading in a different direction. It was an option, but with many things that Wolframite felt doing, this was something he wanted to do to the best of his ability. How that would match up to two senshi, he wasn’t sure. As far as combat went, Wolframite’s experience had been more hand-on. Self-defense trailing and years of running had made him good at keeping himself protected. This was running head first into danger, and it was one of the few times he’d be taking the offensive. If it wasn’t for the fact that he was on a roof, he might had felt more nervous. Being a Lieutenant had made him stronger, faster, and able to do things he would have never imagined doing in a million years. If he never imagined doing that, what were two senshi?

Done with the pep talk in his head, he watched the girls separate. Together they might be a problem, but if he could dive down and take one out, then it was back to being an even fight. Seizing his opportunity, he leaped down and went to swing the jump rope in his one hand. If it worked, it would hit her head. A good smack would be enough to stun her at least, and then he could work out where to go from there.

Europa nodded and trailed Libra, thankful that her companion knew more about strategy than she did. Youma were one thing, but they hadn't even figured out what this was yet, and it meant she was navigating blind - once they identified the target, then she'd be able to pick up one of her typical battle plans.

She kept her eyes focused on the dim area ahead of them, a knot growing in her throat. There was definitely something here, or maybe she'd watched too many detective shows; either they were about to find the body, or the killer.

Something flashed out of the darkness. Europa, already on alert, called out, "Europa deep ocean pressure!" and prayed that it worked. If whatever this thing was was malicious (and not a malicious senshi) then it should have, but it was already falling on Libra, and if it came down on her with all that pressure-

"Libra, look out!" shrieked Europa, diving to push the other Senshi out of the thing's path. She looked back over her shoulder at the thing. "If it worked we should have about twenty seconds," she said quickly. "Move!"

The girl in shorts yelled again, but the words were lost as he headed towards Libra’s head. Since there were no flashy colors or glittering lights, it didn’t occur to him that he’d been attacked. That was until he felt his entire body take on a couple hundred more pounds in a millisecond. It was the sensation of someone throwing a ton of bricks on his shoulder blades, completely throwing off his landing to send him plummeting to the alley below. Bracing himself, he hit the ground legs, then knees, and then his open hands, landing off on all fours and gasping deep. Whatever just happened, it was squeezing him on all sides.

Wrong move. He should have went for the other girl first. Too late for that now. He pushed off to get up to his feet, but every muscle protested against it, telling him to lay down. What he wanted was to jump up and out of the way, but instead, he slowly – VERY slowly – pushed himself up.

Swinging her head to look, Libra gasped as Europa pushed her away in the nick of time. Brushing herself off where Europa had come in contact with her (even in battle, she really hated being touched), she picked up her scales and swung them at a target that was now barely mobile, lashing against him with the heavy improvised weapon.

This was probably not how Libra had fought in her past life. It was embarrassing, awkward, but more effective than kicking or punching. It would do until current Libra learned to fight well. She counted in her head as she sent the scale arcing towards the Negaverse agent (who was actually tiny, and it would have given her pause, had he not jumped down to attack her first), backing away as slowly as he pushed himself up.

The twenty seconds were almost over.

He’d been right to go after the girl with the scales first. Seeing her turn about, he felt that clenching panic set in and yet was unable to do nothing. It reminded him of being in a slow-motion scene where something horrible was happening, and while everyone else was moving normally, he was working through invisible quicksand to pull himself fully up and back away.

The golden metal clashed against his head like a cymbal, clanging hard and slicing his cheek in the process. Teeth gritting against each other, it was any wonder he didn’t loose 2 or 6 as he was thrown down to his side. Mouth sore (among other things), it didn’t prevent him from throwing off a few colorful words under his breath. Not only did they have the advantage of being a duo, but the caped senshi had the better pick of weapons to boot.

Cheek dripping red, the lieutenant reached out for his own weapon as he went to push himself up again. The jump rope had been throw to the side, laying limp and uncaring as to what happened to it’s owner. Moving through invisible waters, his progress was sluggish at best, yet he tried all the same. It was the only thing he could do at this point at the risk of being pummeled to death.

They didn't have much more time, and Europa knew it. Either they finished him while he was slowed down or they had to fight him on his terms. Was this what Libra had meant by a Negaverse agent? He was awfully small, but then again, if kids Pavel's size could be senshi, then who was to say they couldn't be their equal and opposite as well?

She needed to score a hit on him before it wore off, and she needed to do it fast.

Europa dropped her center of gravity and aimed with her shoulders. She charged forward, meaning to catch him in the stomach with a shoulder or an elbow, but only time would tell if she beat the clock to her opponent.

A tackle was a easy case. He’d practiced the basic technique to handle it plenty of times in self-defense, but that was when he was able to move quickly. Even out of his uniform, he was able to move faster than he was now. All he had to do was press on her shoulders, pull his legs back to brace himself, and push her down to the ground. It usually worked, but the moment he looked up to see her charging at him, he couldn’t even put himself in position. Instead, he braced himself. It could go either way. She could lift him up, which meant he’d be screwed, or she’d take him down, which had the same results.

The pair of them went crashing down against a wall, jolting his spine against the gritty brick and smacking his head with it. "You b***h!" Enraged that he could have blocked something that simple, he threw his hand up and went for a punch with all the frustration he couldn’t execute before.

The time limit was up, and Wolframite was going full force.
