Pink tail tuft, swept lazily across the dirt as the dark lioness reclined in the savannah brush. With the sun just beginning to set, the mix of cooler air and twiggy shade was almost a blessing to the female's fur. A content purr rumbled from Kusu's throat as she lolled onto her back, ignoring the mess of bones and gore from a recent meal staining her skin. It was the first time in a long while that she'd had a full meal in peace, and she planned to enjoy it to the fullest.
Although, it did mean to be careful of not bumping into the thorns of the very brush that kept her concealed. Goodness knows she's already been stabbed enough times by the darn plants. Ears twitched as yips and howls could be heard in the near distance. Ugh, those damn hyenas. Not even thorns would keep those dogs away.
So, taking a lazy and unmotivated stretch, Kusu left her messy space in search of another refuge.

In one swift motion, Tshethwa's tail thwapped against her thigh. Once, twice, three times for good measure. But as quickly as it had started, it slowed to a stop again. Whatever little menace had bitten her was certainly no more. The thought pleased her perhaps more than it should have. The grin that threatened to stretch her maw was a wondrous one and it was no small feat keeping it hidden. However, there were greater matters at hand now.
With nightfall not far off, she had begun to search for a shelter suiting her tastes. It had been a day or so since her last decent rest, not something the elegant female enjoyed. She needed her beauty sleep.
Paws slapped the earth as she fell into a steady trot. Despite the vast nature of the land around her, Tshe too could sense the rousing of night predators with distaste. Curved ears swiveled ahead as something caught her attention at the front.

Red eyes squinted as a dark brow lifted to the sight. Why, not too far away was another lioness! Heh, with such markings Kusu had almost mistaken for for a plump hyena. But this seemed less dangerous, even if it was another predator, it still wasn't a mangy dog.
Continuing her pace in confidence, it wasn't long before the blue lioness would cross paths with the paler one. Hn, what to do? Should she be a smart a** while passing by? Or maybe just lazy today and not even acknowledge the other? Decisions decisions. Though by the time her inner musings had ended, Kusu was nearly face to face with the femme. Scoffing to herself, she flicked her tail irritably and tried to flip the blame for lack of attention.
"Hey, watch it lass! You're trespassing don't you know?"

Ready to pass the other creature--a lioness, she discovered--without so much as a word, Tshe lifted her chin and bit and glanced away. Right now she wasn't in the mood for conversation, not when she was sleepy and even a little hungry. There was no reason, in her eyes, to stop and prolong her discomfort. It was as simple as that.
Her tail picked up a slight sway, perhaps in anticipation, as the other female got closer and closer. She had been too lazy (too proud, more like) to curve her trek and put more distance between the two of them. Just a bit further and their short, wordless interaction would be done and the 'delicate' rouge would be on with her life.
Unfortunately, luck didn't seem to favor her now. Blue eyes widened in something akin to disbelief. "Trespassing?" As soon as they had widened, those surprised eyes slipped into a fiery slant. "Is that so?" She halted. "I don't remember scenting you in this area before."

Kusu scoffed and flipped her short locks before bothering with a remark. Just who was this lion to act like a smart a**, that was her job! "Do you have ears made of cloth? Yes, I said trespassing. And you haven't scented me yet because you're just being lazy about it." Though truth be told Kusu was to lazy herself to even leave a trail of her travels. Perhaps that's why she gets lost so easily. Huh.
Lifting a brow and grinning with some fang showing, the blue lioness shrugged casually. "Best be on the retreat before I summon my whole pride on you! Go on now....shoo."

"Oho, I'm being lazy?" It was a guess as to whether or not the other female was telling the truth about the whole scenting thing. Regardless, Tshe was the type to call her out on it with a sarcastic shrug. "That certainly must be it." She paused after that, letting the challenge hang between the two of them for potency.
Eventually her tongue pushed against her cheek and she looked to be holding back a laugh. "Your pride, huh? Just so you know, I hadn't planned on stopping in the first place." Her expression suddenly became a bit harsher. "Do you really think I can be shooed away like a child?" There was some hope in her that this pride didn't exist. After all, if they did and believed her to be the aggressor, she really might get chased out. She wasn't in the mood to try and outrun anything right now. She just wanted to sleep.

Kusu growled in agreement, deciding to ignore the others sarcasm rather than get pissed off about it. "Nice to see you're so smart about it. That helps the situation." It was always so difficult to speak with others who were unsociable...oh wait that was her. Hn, oh well maybe it wasn't that hard to do.
One ear pressed back to the lioness' 'smart' remark. That too was Kusu's own fault. Shrugging it off best as she could, the blue lioness smirked with a nod. Oh yes, a fairly big pride as a matter of fact. And whether you wanted to or not, you've still landed in rough territory darling." Tail fluff was curled around her ankle, anxiously brushing up dust in this tense encounter. But all the same it was a fun change to the normally dull day. Kusu planned to enjoy it for as long as she could pull off. Giving a curt laugh, she shook her head with a toothy grin. "A child? A child you way? Pft, I hate children and find them to be a better meal than a conversation. Thus, so far, you are certainly no child."

A laugh tickled at the back of her throat. It was kind of funny to hear this other lioness take her sarcasm and twist it into some serious response. In a way, Tshe had to give her credit for not snapping right back. And yet... It was still funny and she worked hard to not let that giggle free along with her words. "I promise you I'm smarter than you probably think. I don't really want trouble." There would have been an apologetic smile on her maw if she felt this confrontation was at all her fault.
"Hm..." Her new company seemed awfully sure of herself. There was something in the dual-toned lioness that began to believe the pride story just a bit, though her expression didn't falter. "Like I said, I don't want trouble. I'd be ever so grateful if you didn't invite your kin to our little conversation." At the other's next comment, she found her brow raising slightly. "It seems we must get along somehow," she too let out a soft laugh. "I'm glad to know I don't have a cub's aura."

At the following words of pacifism from the tan female, Kusu gave an open pout while twisting her tail in the dirt. "Awww, you don't? But trouble is always so thrilling to get into! Especially when the two opponents are intelligent." The lioness smirked to her slight compliment to the other, but gave it no time to be gloated. That wasn't the point of this encounter.
Pressing her ears back with a deliberately slow hum, Kusu pretended to weigh her options. To call on the fake pride or not, oh what to do? She had to admit this rogues company was unexpectedly pleasant. Her subtle attitude and cautious alertness made her an intriguing tease. So why not play out with this entertainment? Feeling herself boastful and superior to the other, Kusu continued her play, not even considering if the other could swipe the ego out from under her.
"Oh I truly do agree! Trust me, my pride hates to leave a bloody mess in our territory. And you do have a point, you are no cub. Perhaps you can be of use to us?" Or just herself and her growing appetite. Plotting quietly in her head, the blue lioness peered around the land. "Maybe if you were to catch m...us a meal, my pride will remain oblivious of you. If you can, that is."

Tshethwa's own ears began to swivel backwards as she weighed her options. The other female was still speaking, but at some point she had stopped listening. Only long enough to decide. It was probably best to get out of here as soon as possible. Yes, there was a part of her, a rather large part, that couldn't help but admit she was enjoying this banter. Her acquaintance could hold her own well and always seemed to have something witty to say. The two-toned rouge found something intriguing about it. And yet-
If this pride really did exist, how many things would she have to do exactly to prove her worth? How long would this dark female keep her hostage with words and threats, be they empty or not. As much fun as it was, Tshe thought she would prefer sleeping.
"Well, I-" she paused, her eyes widening slightly. Had her new 'friend' just stumbled over her words? It had been so slight, but her ears had caught it. Unfortunately, her mind had yet to catch up and place why it felt so unusual. "I am a bit hungry, myself." Her tail flicked back against her leg and she glanced around. Good thing she didn't really have anything to do today. "But you know, I bet if you helped, we could bring something bigger back. You are meaning to feed more than just two, aren't you?" She looked expectant.
