Sil let out a soft whine as she limped into the pack lands, there was a good sized gash down one foreleg and she feared she'd done something else to it as well - but being far from any sort of healer she couldn't couldn't tell for sure. At least h'd made it home she thought to herself as she eyed the familiar area - you'd think she would eventually learn to be more careful in her wanderings but Sil had developed the bad habit of 'exploring' at a young age and despite several close calls she continued to push her luck.

It seemed that some of that luck had run out this time, but she'd be fine right? Of course she would - she just needed to get back to the den's crawl inside and nurse her wounds before her mother...or any other overprotective relative happened to see her. They'd notice the gash regardless but she was hoping that with a bit of rest the limp would take care of itself and then she could just tell them she's scraped her leg on a rock and avoid any fuss they might kick up. Yep...that was the plan and with no one in immediate sight she thought she was well on the way to pulling it off..just have to make it to the dens she told herself firmly biting her lip as she took another step to stifle the whine that wanted to leak through

Alas had always been loving, a healer by nature of body and spirit, she cared for her pack, her family. In fact most of the pack was her family, which was why she had left on a long journey to find someone to unlock the full measure of love she held within. She needed to be able to do more for the ones she loved especially in a time of such uncertainty. Good fortune had smiled on her and she had felt the subtle awakening within thanks to one of the Omni. Everyday she worked towards mastering her newfound strengths.

Today was no different, Alas lay quietly infront of the pack den, her paws were crossed and her head was held high. Her blue eyes were closed and her ears pricked in subtle concentration. She was meditating and in this state she could feel a strange connection to her loved ones, love was becoming a tangible beautiful web to her. She could follow certain threads and use them to strengthen her talents as a healer. Healing too had become strangely new, new insight allowed her to draw from the web of love and mend actual flesh.

It was so breathtakingly beautiful, and everyday she sent up thanks to the skies for allowing her to continue to protect her pack. A small smile curved her muzzle as she opened her eyes and tipped her head towards her granddaughter.

"Getting into trouble again Sil?"

Sil cringed slightly as her grandmother noticed her - she had been pretty sure the older wolf was sleeping, or at least not paying attention and had intended to sneak past her. Well so much for that plan she told herself as she sighed and gave Alas a sheepish look. "Eh...trouble is a matter of perspective...?" She tried out with a hopeful look. "Was just out exploring some" She finally confessed with a slight bob of her head. She really didn't think anyone could blame her - she was young..adventurous and well she couldn't be expected to sit around the pack lands all the time right?

"I just hurt my paw a bit" She told her grandmother reassuringly - she didn't want to unduly worry her, then she'd call her mother and well..that never went well for Sil. "I'm sure with a bit of rest t will be fine..."

Alas gave her granddaughter a soft smile of reassurance and stood with a soft shake. She would fix up the girls paw, give her a word of warning and send her inside to rest. No need for alarm and troubles, she was starting to realize just how adventurous her granddaughter was.

"Well come here and let me have a look at your paw, and then we won't concern your mother hmm? As long as you stay away from the border of Agua Azul you know your free to explore, with care."

The truth was everyone worried, since Moranna's disappearance they were on the brink of a violent outburst. Tensions with the northern pack, the reign of terror, and their western enemies Agua Azul had left the tight knit family even more protective of their own.

Sil gave a grateful wag of her tail when her grandmother promised not to alarm her mother - that was always a worry with Sil, she loved her mother and she certainly hated to trouble and worry her but she liked exploring too - something which the rest of the pack seemed so very edgy about lately. Not that she could blame them she supposed...she might not involve herself in pack politics much, but the odd word reached her ears now and again and she knew things were tense.

"Thanks Grandma" She told the older pink wolf before limping over "and I know better then to go in that direction" She assured the older wolf with a slight bob of her head. At least you know she was being very very careful anyways.

"I know you do, but we can't help but worry, I can't help but worry. I love you so very much." She smiled and licked her granddaughters cheek softly. Again she felt the new surge of power washing all around her. Love, that was what had untapped this reservoir of power, what was going to allow her to heal Sil.

She gave the younger female a soft nudge, "Lay down now, and let me have a look...you must have been running awfully fast..." Alas gave a little smile and shook her head.

Sil thumped her tail on the ground as she lay down and reached up to nuzzle her grandmother "I try not to worry everyone when I can" Sil answered truthfully, worrying her mother and the rest of the family typically ment a few days of unrelenting coddling. Sil loved her family she really did but they could be well..smothering when they decided to be.

Today however she was rather glad for the love and care of her pack, she'd met her share of wolves during her exploration who had grown up without such help "I think I landed wrong after jumping a log" She explained.

"I know...it must be fun to run around and get away from it all when you feel overwhelemed...I know it's hard to believe but I was young once too, and I injured myself plenty." Of course, she had been alone in the world, learning to heal herself, suffering days of hunger or sickness. Alas appreciated her family just that much more because she had never had any of her own as a pup. She knew how coddled the older set must have felt sometimes, but it was simply in her nature to love and share her love. It had made the pack closer though in so many ways, cousins, brothers, uncles, friends, they all cared for each other even if they didn't all agree.

She bent her head to look over Sil's paw and frowned as she nosed it softly. Hmmm...it was a little swollen and in time it would no doubt swell more. She tilted her head worried and imagined having to brace it. Sil wouldn't be able to run for a week, maybe two.

She felt the power, the love, it was deep in her chest, warm, ready...She nosed the paw again and then she felt it, saw it almost...there was something there a soft pink tendril wrapping around her granddaughters paw. Alas knew Sil couldn't see it...this was her own power...and she could use it to heal! She concentrated a harder then imagined the way a splint would help, imagined the weeks passing, the muscles growing stronger, she imagined the bones whole and uninjured...and then the pink misting seemed to seep into her granddaughters paw...and the swelling went down. Her eyes widened a moment and she moved her head away looking up in startled hope. "Try standing?" She offered softly with no explanation for how she had magically healed the injury.

"Of course you were Grandma" Sil answered the older wolf as she told her she'd been young once - obviously she must have been, everyone was...though it was just a bit hard to think of Alas that way and for a few moments Sil tried to picture what a puppy version of her grandmother would have been like. This was harder to envision then she'd thought and shaking her head a bit she gave up.

Her grandmother had a somewhat worried expression on her face and Sil wasn't sure she liked that to much and was on the verge of asking how bad things really were when Alas seemed be concentrating on something. Sil was too worried to interrupt whatever it was she was thinking about and when she suddenly looked up and asked her to stand Sil gave her a dubious look - though now that her attention had been turned back to her paw she had to admit it did feel better.

"I don't see how it's changed an.." she started off as she none the less tried to stand and pup some weight on it " ...wow! how did you do that?" She demanded after a few moments of shock flitted across her features when she found her paw better.

Alas was shocked as well, it had actually worked, she tried not to look to excited though this was a delicate gift and she felt a bit tired now. Excited, but yes she felt a small ache in her own leg, but her heart warmed at the thought of having healed Sil. Not just healed though, not in the usual way, she had actually used the unlocked power she had tried so desperately to find to help her family.

"Sil...I...do you remember a few moons past when I went on a long trip? I was worried...things aren't getting better with the packs around us and I'm afraid of our family getting hurt. I couldn't just stand back and wait for something bad to happen, something that I couldn't help or at least try. I love you so much, I love everyone in the pack, and I knew that some wolves could use the nature around them to do things like heal. I taught one of them the healing art and I saw how they used their affinity to speed and better the process. I went out to find a way to unlock that in me, I followed rumors at first, whispers, until finally I came to a place that...that thrummed with power. It's hard to explain now, but every fiber of my body felt alive, infused. I begged the wolf there to help me, to show me how to secure the power to help my family. He did something...it's hard to explain, but when I left, the love I felt for all of you, for Crunch, your mother, Musketeer, your aunts...it felt like something I could touch. I've been trying ever since to understand it, and now I think I do, but theres more, more to it. I have to think about this now...now that I realize what I have, what I can do. It's wonderful...and terrible...but I want to use it to keep you all safe."

She gave a great sigh then but moved over to nuzzle her granddaughter and lick her cheek. "You should run a little, test it, tell me if it's really alright..."

Sil blinked at her grandmother's story - sure she remembered the trip, she had wondered where her grandmother could possibly have been going - it wasn't often that she left the pack lands after all and certainly it wasn't normal for her to have been gone for as long as she had. Now well it seemed it had been allot more then just a simple trip and Sil couldn't quite understand all of it, but she thought she got the jist of it. "So your like..a super wolf now?" She asked with pricked ears - now that would be something to brag about now wouldn't? She could tell everyone that her grandmother was magical!

Nodding slightly she pranced about a bit to pre-test the leg and hen not much of a twinge presented itself she dashed about her grandmother in a wide circle before skidding to a stop in front of her again "It feel great Grandma!"

Alas gave a soft laugh and shook her head before focusing on Sil making sure her leg wasn't giving way. It really looked healed, and that lifted her hopes. It seemed that she actually would be able to keep her family safe.

"Good!" She nodded as Sil called out that everything was great.

She walked over and looked at her granddaughter intently. "You musn't tell anyone of what I did today Sil...I'm not sure if this will last. We wouldn't want the wrong people to know...and I want to practice a bit more with it. For now we'll just keep it our little...secret hmm?"

Sil sighed somewhat as her grandmother gave her that intent look and little speech about keeping things a secret. That certainly took some of the fun out of knowing - but then again it was a pretty neat secret and she ought to feel special for being trusted enough to know it! Sil mulled this over for a few moments before giving a decisive no. "You can count on my grandma..I won't tell a single sou! I promise!" she told her with a serious look in her eye. And she wouldn't either - she would try her hardest to keep this to herself and generally for the important things Sil was pretty reliable - even if she was a bit flaky about the less important details in life.

Alas let her eyes scan over Sil's leg again and she was pleased to see that not even the small gash remained, it was as if there had been no injury at all. Yet she felt a small tingle in the back of her mind and the previous threads that had been so clear to her were a tad fuzzier. She wondered then what extent of injuries she could treat in this way until she herself felt their pain as her own. Would such a thing even happen, or would the power extinguish itself all together?

If only she had tried sooner, she might have saved...but no stillborn pups would never benefit from healing natural or otherwise, death was death and she would not, could not ever attempt to interfere with such matters. A small shiver raced down her spine before she turned back to Sil.

"Good because I'm not sure exactly what there is to tell yet myself..." She smiled at her leg. "Good as new, just be careful." She knew that the younger female probably wouldn't appreciate the constant words of caution, but she couldn't keep them from coming out anyway. That was love it seemed.

To Sil's way of thinking there was lots to tell - I mean how often did one become a super wolf? Not very often! But if her Grandmother wished to keep things to herself for a while then Sil would do her best to keep to this promise. "I'm always careful!" she told pink elder in a chipper voice "and now that you've fixed me I can go pack to my run" she added, rather pleased this was the case - she'd been dreading laying about in her den for the rest of the day.

"This time...I'll try not to get hurt" she promised and then for good measure continued "And I'll stay in pack lands too"
