Adela had stopped as she wandered along one of the forest paths, well away from any part that she called home. She had stopped because something had caught her eye, and that something was what she was stairing at now. Peeking through the dusting of snow that was left was a green sprout, no flowers yet but seeing this tiny speck of green brightend her up. She had enjoyed winter, but she was starting to long for warmer weather and fresh green grass again.
She smiles and carefully nudges snow away from the sprout with the tip of her hoof. Straightening up her long mane is now two tone from where it had lain in the snow, but she didn't mind. "Grow well little green plant, I hope to find you with pretty flowers soon." Taking a careful path round where the sprout was and heading along the path again at a slow leasurely pace, enjoying exploring ever since she was little. Humming to herself as she wanders along.

Muscles loosened, relieving a burden of tension the little green flutter stallion had been unaware he carried until he returned to the familiar paths of the forest. He smiled brightly and laughed. For once not caring that he was unable to fly, for the moment, and just enjoying life.
It had been a while since he'd laughed just for the sheer pleasure of laughing. And as winter loosened its tight grasp, he saw a small plant growing strong despite it all. He walked over to the little plant and gently rubbed his face along its soft new leaves. He knew the plant may not survive the frosts, yet he couldn't help but admire is strength, tenacity and determination. "Grow strong, grow long little one."
He'd turned to walk away once more when he heard a voice, a stranger who wished the little plant the same luck he had. He was curious. He trotted towards the sound of the stranger's voice. He wouldn't reveal himself just yet. He wanted the chance to first observe.

Adela hunnd happily as she walked, her gaze angled down, watching out for any more little sprouts of plants. Finding another little sprout just off the edhe of the path she was on. Stopping and smiling again, carefully udging a little space around it in the snow. "Go for it little plant, I hope to see your flowers in the spring." Grinning and carrying on along the path. Keeping watch where she was stepping but humming happily, thinking of warm sunshine and green forests and fields. Sighing happily. "Oh summer adventures, I can't wait!"
Remembering the summer before, having been young but it had been fun. She was definately looking forward to spring and summer. All these thoughts showed in her happy walk and the cheerful tune she was humming, totally unaware that she was being watched.

The mare seemed happy, and Laures found himself content with his observation. He would go meet the mare. decision made he allowed for her to get many paces ahead of him, but still remain in sight before he intentionally snapped a twig beneath his hooves to announce his presence. But the twig was old and dried, thus making a much louder snap than he'd intended. He was so surprised by the sound echoing in the still of the forest, he nearly jumped out of his skin, nearly forgot the fact that his wings weren't yet capable of supporting his body in flight.
A brief twinge in his wings reinforced his determination that they were not completely healed, and he bit his bottom lip to stop the stream of explatives from pouring forth. Cursing was crude, and went against his very nature, but damn if it wasn't appropriate at this point in time. And how he truly wished he could throw off the shackles of both his nature and upbringing.
So focused on himself after this, he almost lost sight of why he'd snapped the twig in the first place.
The Mare. He quickly looked up to see if she was still there, and if she'd been witness to his unfortunate mishap.

Stopping when she herd the twig snap, having herd stories of the dark soquili, doubting it was any of them but there was never a way to check before it was too late. Looking round slowly, trying not to panic only to go wide eyed as she sees a green haired stallion with the most beautiful butterfly wings.
Turning to face him, trying hard not to stare at his wings. The white patch on the tip of her nose going a little pink, feeling embarassed, knowing she was probably gawking at him like some hormonal colt. Looking at her front hooves as she gathers herself, feeling foolish, but thne she had never met a flutter before and he was rather striking.
Coughing a little and looking back up at him, meeting his eyes this time and smiling in a friendly way. "Hi, I'm Addy, or Adela if you want, but I prefer Addy... You made me jump with that big snap, I thought I was about to be eaten. Silly as you rarely hear them coming... Sorry, I'm rambling..." The tip of her nose a very definate pink now.

Though he'd not meant for such an awkward way to begin a meeting- after all, one couldn't tell from sound alone if a stranger or strange presence was friend or foe- he'd frightened himself just as much as the mare. Color rose to his cheekbones, darkening his already dark pelt, though one would have to look very close to tell the difference. This was far from being the first occasion he blessed his coloration which hid his embaressment well usually, nor did he try to convince himself it would be the last.
Now that he was able to come out of the shadows and move closer, he was able to get a better look at the mare. His first thought was that she seemed far younger than he had expected, but then he was definately feeling older than his own years, so maybe this chance meeting would be good for him, reminding him that he'd made a promise to himself to never grow old.
He listened patiently as the mare rambled on, wondering if it was a trait common to all females, regardless of race or species, or whether it was wonder at meeting one of his kind which he had come to realise was rather uncommon, that caused other soquili to ramble on when they first met him. Personally, he hoped it was just embaressment, and that if he was able to calm her down somewhat, the mare would make some sense.
He tried to project calm as he responded softly. "I didn't mean to startle you, miss Addy. I saw you a little earlier, and seeing how this forest is rather quiet and the day as nice as it is, I thought perhaps it would be a nice day to have some company." he paused a moment and added, almost as an afterthought, "My name is Laures."

Calming down after her babbleing, the usually white patch on the tip of her nose was very clearly pink, embarassed at her gawking and babbleing. Managing to stop stairing at his wings and focus on his face, offering an aplogetic smile. "I'm sorry, I've not met a flutter before, your wings are striking and very beautiful. I hope you forgive me if I start stairing again. And its just Addy.. I've never been formal." Her voice more even and its usual gentle tone. Usually only rambleing when she was startled or really embarassed. Hoping that she hadn't totally made a fool of herself.
"Company sounds like a wonderful idea, if you still want some? Your right it is a lovely day, and signs of spring are starting to show." Smiling the idea of spring definately cheering her up, and the thought of company more so. Hoping that he wasn't put off by her rambling. "Was there some place you were thinking of going Laures or would you like to join me in roaming?"

It seemed to Laures that it was a universal truth that when one was embarassed or placed into a situation where they felt awkward, it was inevitable that one either would clam up and retreat inside themselves, or they would start to ramble on about anything and everything to try and lessen the tension they felt. He himself was one of the latter, it seemed to be a part of his sociable personality, and he was could see that Addy was of the latter group as well.
He blushed at her compliment of his wings. As a flutter, he was rightly proud of them, but he wasn't used to having others remark on them. " I thank you for your compliment."
He softly cleared his throat. " I've travelled enough by myself to learn to appreciate the company of others, regardless of who they are and whether or not they like to talk." He grinned somewhat wryly. "I, myself am very fond of conversation." And if it hadn't been a part of his nature, well, the way he grew up and the friends he'd made since coming to the Kawani lands would have been enough to ensure that he became fond of it.
"I had no particular destination in mind. If you'd like to lead the way..." He gestured for Adela to go on.

Smiling brightly at him, gesturing with her nose in the direction she had been going. "I was thinking to see what was this way, mostly because I can't remember going that way before." Not really needing a better reason to explore a place, though if she had one that usuallly made her more eager to go there. "But if you know of somewhere that might be more exciting I am all ears." Her ears giving a little wiggle, her smile cheeky. Not a flirt as such but she had a tendancy to be cheey and joking, and it come come across as more.
Her smile growing, gettign the feeling she might have found a kindred spirit in Laures. "Conversation is good, though I rarely have anything interesting to talk about, so how about we wander the way I was going and see if we cant find some adventure or some other mischief to get into?" Her long tail swooshign a little, liking the idea of finding somethig to get into.
Starting to walk along the path she had been on, leaving plenty of room for him to come up beside her. Smiling over at him as he joins her. "So would you mind if I was nosey about what being a flutter is like? Must be wonderful to have such beautiful wings."

The thought of mischief and adventure was usually enough to put a smile on his face and a spring in his step, but after his last adventure, he shuddered to think what could happen. Though that's not to say he didn't look forward to having any... well, at least they were currently in a forest, not a cave, and there really wasn't much that could cause any more damage, unless they just so happened to have a run-in with a kalona or skinwalker.
"Be careful what you wish for," he murmured softly as he crossed himself superstitiously. After all, trouble often found him, without it being wished upon him. "I've not travelled this way before, so that sounds fine by me."
The question about what it was like to be a flutter was one he'd never been asked before, so he was at a loss as to how to answer it. What was it like... Well, he'd never been anything other than a flutter, so he really had no basis for comparison.
"I've never really thought about it before. What it's like to be what I am, I mean. It's all I've ever known." He shook his head. there must be something he could tell her." There is a great deal of freedom, being able to fly. But any with wings could say the same. The rush of feeling the wind caressing your body and cradling you, there is no other feeling like it. Even if a flutter needs to work harder than others to achieve flight. It's all the more satisfying for it." He trailed off. It was easy enough to speak of flying, but there was so much more to being a flutter than that.
There was also the ability to shrink. To become small enough to dance lightly across the buds of flowers and be surrounded by their scent. There was truly no way to describe it that would do it justice.

Glancing over at him, seeing the shifting of his expression, wondering if she had said something upsetting to him, wondering this as they walk along, then catching that he said something quietly but not hearing what exactly. Wondering to herself if asking would be considered rude to ask what was wrong. Deciding that it wasn't, but she would wait a little bit before asking. Not everyone liked shairing personal thoughts. Smiling still despite her thoughts, glad to have a companion of her small adventure, it not really much of one but it was so mewhere new to both of them hopefully, or if nothing else it would be a new way to get to somewhere they already knew.
Listening to him as he trys to explain what it was like to be a flutter, she understands his dilemma, he was no more able to really explain it than she would be to know how it feels to fly. You can try to find reference points as much as possible but with no idea what experiences that other person had, it was hard. Was flying like swimming? Well if you could fly but had never swam how would you know the answer to that question. Smiling at his attempt of an answer, looking apologetic. "Sorry, it was a silly question, I know that you cant really tell someone what its like to be yourself. But I will admit that I wih I had lovely wings like yours."
Walking on a little further, looking round, the trees seeming to have gotten older, trying to keep track of the way they were going as things were getting less familiar. Looking over at him as she ponders the question she thought of earlier. "Do you not like adventures?" Wondering if he felt obliged to come with her, feeling a little bad that he might not enjoy the trip.

A smile smile graced his face for a moment. "There really isn't such a thing as a stupid question. At least, I don't there is. Without asking questions, how are we supposed to learn about the world around us or to find common ground with those who seem to be different from us, even if the difference is merely superficial."
He remembered his own foal- and young adult-hood and quickly amended his statment. "But one must be careful about who they question, or they might end up in trouble."
He tried to keep track of their surroundings, and an eye out for any trouble or potential danger that might befall them, while still being attentive to his companion. The trees started to crowd in closer around them, and the trail they seemed to be following started to disappear into the underbrush. And despite his misgivings and the unease at the thought of another adventure like his last, Laures started to get excited. After all adventuring was in his blood and it would be like asking him to stop breathing or give up the gift of flight, if he were required to stop.
"No." He shook his head emphatically at the mare's question."I do not dislike adventure. I am actually very fond of seeing new places and wonders. I just... recently I went on an adventure in an underground cavern. There was a mishap..." He opened his wings slightly so the tatters and tears that nearly robbed him of flight were visible. "Without flight, a flutter may as well be dead, and I very nearly did die." A wry smile, and shake of the head. "But that was then, and today is far different. It is a lovely day, and there is the siren song of the unknown to follow."
Besides, this was merely a small adventure, taking a different trail in a forest he could claim some knowledge of. So really, what was the worst that could happen to them?

Adela smiles over him, her expression flickering to sad, seeing the damage done to his wings. "A friend took me down in an underground cavern, she seemed to see just fine, but I couldn't see the end of my nose it was so dark." Shivering having been fine getting into it, but the getting out was harder, having to jump up onto a ledge she couldn't see had been a test of trust for her. Though she had been a little shaken by that no one had gotten hurt.
"True, I suppose all questions have a point, I was just thinking that its hard to ask or explain about such things. I can ask you what it is like to fly, and you could tell me its like swimming, but if I've never swam than I'm still as clueless. Then again I imagine that if you can fly then swimming is not something you do often?" Looking over at him, wondering if his wings were covered in the delicate powder that butterflies had, only able to imagine swimming would do them no good at all.
Stopping and looking down, heading off what was left of their path and moving the brush that had grown over out the way. "When there is no way, you make your own." Smiling at him heading down between the trees, not seeming to have a set direction in mind, she was just roaming for the fun of it, that and her usual companions were all recently parents so it had left her at a loose end.

There were startling flickers of maturity the mare showed, in between her flights of nervousness, and overwheming, at times, curiousity. These glimpses intrigued him. So was that hints of who she was when she was comfortable and herself? Or was it hints of who she would grow to be? He paid closer attention, trying to figure her out.
"Accidents can happen anywhere and everywhere. But if we live in fear of what might happen, we'd never really get the chance to just live." He shook his mane out. "And some places are more dangerous then others. I must say that though there is some beauty in caves, I'd rather not go back into one, ever. The thrills aren't worth the possible price."
He shuddered when she mentioned swimming. Just the thought of going into large or not so large bodies of water caused him to shudder. The weight of water holding him down, shackling him to the earth and denying him the freedom of the skies, not to mention the days it took his wings to dry out completely... " Ah, no. I don't go swimming voluntarily, nor do I tend to go traveling in wet weather. The water just ruins the wings... water-logged wings won't work to fly, and I don't ever wish to ground myself and be denied the freedom of flying- by my own choice. Though I do see the parallel in what you're saying. It makes sense."
He watched as Adela started to veer off the path they'd followed so far curiously. Did she know this part of the forest, or was she following something only she could feel, hear, sense, whatever? Well whatever the case, he'd not been in this area of the forest and was wondering what they'd find here.
"Do you have any idea of where we're headed, or are we merely following a whim?" He asked good-naturedly.
