Fauzi pawed tirelessly at the dirt as he laid amongst his family. They all seemed to sleep so peacefully. Gentle snores echoed off the shallow walls of the den, under normal circumstances the comforting sounds would make him giggle. At the moment, laughing is the very last thing on his mind.
The pup's red eyes gazed from each of his siblings and then at rested on the blue figure beside him - Uzuri. His thoughts were laced with concern and depression that a pup his age shouldn't experience. Fauzi huffed, flopping over and forcing his eyes shut. He hoped the fatigue would eventually overcome him, but his crimson eyes just snapped open again. He couldn't make the images go away.
Fauzi whimpered, snuggling into his mother's fur as he choked back tears.

Slowly blinking her eyes, Uzuri let out a yawn; she was exhausted, as any mother of nine would be, but she loved every second of it. These were the things she had dreamed of as a small pup. Her blue eyes drifted over her brood, all gently sprawled together in a lump of fur. Her mate, Ade, was squished up next to her, making small sounds as he slept. He truly was just like a pup still.
Her eyes adjusted, and she strongly debated drifting off to sleep again. She noticed a little movement next to her side, and shifted her head to see what it was. The fuzziness washed away, and her eyes focused on the little red-eyed Fauzi. He resembled his grandmother so much, and even had her eyes. Uzuri was so overjoyed about being a part of such a large family.
"What is the matter, dear?" Her ears flicked forward, her expression showing concern at his little whimpers.

Fauzi swallowed the painful lump in his throat as he felt his mother stir. A deep frown cracked across the pup's face as their eyes met. "Oh mama." Fauzi sobbed, barely considerate enough to quiet down for the rest of the sleeping family. "I've been having really scary dreams!" His eyes welled up with tears as he planted his face into the light blue of his mother's fur.
The blue pup let out what sounded like nonsense muffled burbling sounds as he soaked Uzuri's fur with various facial excretions. The terrifying thoughts and visions overwhelmed him, but they all suddenly ceased as the explosion of tears began. Fauzi felt plagued by the darkness, it was as if every shadow in the room wanted to consume him.
Just for a moment, Fauzi lifted his head out of the warm, damp fur and gasped for air.

Uzuri's face seemed twisted, horrified for her small son. She had grown up with nightmares, albeit they were just memories playing over when she slept. She hated the fear that came with them, the helplessness that came with them because they felt so real.
Leaning her head down, she nuzzled her pup, a feeling of nausea in the pit of her stomach. Her paws wrapped around his small frame, and she tried to think of what to say. "It's all right now, darling. You're with me, and I won't let anything get you." Her nightmares were of being chased by the dark blue monster of her past life, running until there was no air, no ground, just darkness. The sun could barely shake her from those dreams, and she usually woke gasping for breath.
"Now, do you want to tell me about your scary dreams?" She brought her mouth down next to his ear, whispering softly to him. It might be good to let it out, to tell someone so he would no longer be alone.

Fauzi rapidly let out one breath after another, almost getting dizzy from the hyperventilation. He was concerned that his cries would be too loud, and wake his siblings and father. After a few moments of collecting his composure, he got to his tiny paws and motioned his mother to follow him towards the edge of the den.
"I don't want to wake them..." He looked tearfully in the direction of his brothers and sisters before gazing back into his mom's eyes.
"My dreams are too scary to be dreams." The pup explained his feelings the best he could before going on to describe his experience in that terrifying world. "There was a little blue pup that looked kinda like me... Only she was a girl." An occasional hiccup interrupted him, but he was determined to let it all out. "A-and she was scared and sad. I t-tried to help her, but she couldn't see me at all! And then this.. big... m-monster came and... "
Fauzi paused, gulping the painful lump that formed in his throat every time he wanted to cry. His tiny red eyes squeezed out more tears as he tried to continue. "I-I tried to stop it, but I... I ... was too late!" He burst again, slamming his face into Uzuri's fur to wail and cry as loud as it was possible for a pup his size.

Uzuri's brow was beginning to sore, with her concerned expression still lasting on her face. "That's...considerate of you." Her voice was soft as she watched him. She lifted herself from the ground, her bones clicking and cracking as she got up.
Following him out, her ears were slid back nervously, and she watched him. "They're only...dreams..." Her voice trailed off, and she lowered herself to the ground, to be on the same level with him. She looked at him, his red eyes seemed so distant. She'd seen the look before, from his grandmother, where he inherited those haunting eyes. Her ears stood up now, carefully listening to what he was saying. His story, it sounded...horrifically familiar. Her eyes squinted, and she pawed at the ground anxiously.
"Yes, it was...it was just a dream, Fauzi." She felt his small head in her fur, and she nuzzled it gently. "It's all over now, right? You shouldn't fuss over it anymore." She tried to crack a smile, but it didn't come out as nicely as she had wanted it to.

Fauzi laid his ears back, he almost felt as if he was being scolded. He probably deserved it after waking mom from such a peaceful rest. The puppy sunk, letting his rear hit the ground with a thud as he gazed gloomily at the dirt. His skinny blue tail was tucked securely between his legs as the tears continued to fall.
"I'm sorry, moma." Fauzi whimpered. "But... that's the worst part. It's not over. Every time I close my eyes I see more horrible stuff." He sniffled, inhaling all sorts of mucus and liquids in the process. "I can't sleep at all... it's just... so scary." It was true, he could hardly even blink without getting a flash of images. Violent, horrific images that could make even the coldest beasts cringe.
He gazed towards her again, eyes still moist with tears. "Just don't be mad at me okay? I'm really really sorry, but I don't want you to be mad at me."

"Fauzi, darling, I would never be mad at you." Uzuri smiled, licking the small pup's nose. "I just hate seeing you upset, that's all." Looking down at him, Uzuri felt as defeated as he looked. There was a tiny part of her that made her feel like a failure, but she kept it sucked in.
"If you can't sleep, why don't you stay with me, hm?" Moving her paw to scoot him closer, Uzuri was concerned with what he had said. She had met someone when she was younger with a similar problem; they had said the gods gave them a sight, but she couldn't believe the one of her pups would have it. No, it couldn't be possible.
"You can just sit here, and talk to me until you feel a little better, okay?" Laying her head on her paws, her blue eyes were locked on him.
