Another uneventful morning. Or that's how things seemed to be coming together as the lion stretched. Boredom was rarely playing his actions for the day and Pattin was determined to do something. But - the lion sighed as he glanced around at his sheltered home. There would be nothing here for him.
Eh, he didn't mind leaving. As long as he didn't come across a crazy cat like that demon lioness from last time. He really wasn't in the mood for violence after all. Nor was he in the mood for hunting or napping.
Rather he felt like exploring. With a last scan about the area Pattin started walking. For once he took a random path, but that didn't bother him. Already he was memorizing the way back home.
The only worry was - what exactly would be out in the rogue lands waiting for him today?

Valetudo'Sero had found a spot where one of her favorite herbs grew and she was slowly picking what she needed. Choosing plants that had plenty of growth and did not look like it was in need of water or sun. She had found this catch of green in a small valley where a small pond grew on one end with trees clustered around it. A stream meandered its way through the grass and rock to end in the pond and it seemed to leave out of the far end of the valley after it had cut a small ravine in the dirt and rock.
Her plant was growing through out the small valley in small clumps here and there. Val also found a few plants that were useful that she was not looking for. She was glad that De was not expecting her back anytime soon so she got to have plenty of time alone without the amusing leopard or her cubs near by. She loved her cubs, really she did but sometimes keeping up the illusion that she was a normal mortal lioness became difficult so times like this, when she could drop the illusion around her wings, were welcome.

Though he had been secretly hoping for something to happen, Pattin didn't expect it. Rather the lion had been so interested in this small area of green that he didn't even notice the presence of Val. Instead he explored around the pond after taking in a few quick drinks.
It reminded him of home. Pattin grinned, there were similar plants here though some he only vaguely recognized - if at all. His crystal blue eyes sparked with interest. If only he could figure out the name for them! At least he could experiment and figure out what they could be used for.
On that thought he started moving to pluck a few plants and it was then that he jumped. "Oh!" The lion had finally noticed Val's presence.

Val was so focused on her herb 'hunting' that it wasn't until the male lion said 'oh' and jumped in surprise. She looked up and smiled, "Hello." she said as she did her best to suppress her laughter from the other lion's surprise.
She had not expected another to find another in the valley and one to be doing what she was doing, or it looked that way, pleased her extremely. "So what brings you here?" Val asked just to make sure the sent she caught was from picking plants and not his normal smell.
The small plant that she was standing over was a small bush that was just beginning to bud. Val knew that in a few weeks the plant would flower and the small bush would be covered in small white and yellow flowers. She used the plant as a fever reducer, as well as headache and for joint pain. She didn't find it often because it was not native to the area and traveling far enough where it was traditionally cultivated was quite annoying. Val knew that this bush would eventually grow to about 18 inches high and right now it was just starting its growth but the plant was also a very vigorous and invasive plant so she did not worry about it too much, she was more worried about the best way to keep it contained so it wouldn't destroy the other plants in this small valley as it would given time.
(describing feverfew. pulled info from wiki... quite interesting really but took with a grain of salt so... yeah)

"He-hello." Pattin swallowed and averted his gaze. For some reason he was too shy to look her in the eyes. Especially since he had been caught in his plant observation. "Me?"
"Nothing really." The lion shrugged though his attempt at casualness instantly faded at the sight of the plant that Val was standing over. Oh! It was beginning to bud! "That bush!" He recognized it vaguely from where he once roamed. Not like it was native there of course, but some circumstances had led to it blooming near his old home. Luckily for the plants around it the bush had been destroyed before it could spread like wildfire.
"It's about to bloom though I worry about the-" Suddenly Pattin swallowed and looked up with a sheepish smile, "Umm...hello again."

His shyness made Val smile. He was kind of sweet the way he averted his gaze from her. She knew that his 'nothing really' was a lie but Val was not a female or a god who would call someone on a obviously harmless lie; it was quite apparent that he was doing the same that she was, plant hunting.
She was quite surprised that he recognized the bush and he seemed to know about its planty 'predatory' nature. "Yes, Tanacetum parthenium," she gave it the formal name of the plant, "quite a useful little plant but quite a conquer." She looked down at the plant and nudged it with her paw wondering if she should destroy it, it seemed such a waste to ruin a plant because of its tendency to grow like a weed choking out all other plant life.
"Hello," she smiled as she looked back up at him, "again."

"Tanacetum par-parthenium." Repeated Pattin with vivid interest. So that was what the plant could be called! His tail swished happily in the air as he nodded, "It's sad that such a conquer could be useful as well."
If it wasn't well then he might not feel so bad about having to destroy most of those he came across. Right now he was even pondering about whether it was safe to leave this one here or not. Maybe if others lived in this area - suddenly Pattin looked up at the female. "Are you going to keep it in check?" He finally asked.
Suddenly Pattin smiled sheepishly, "Sorry. I'm getting ahead of myself." He shook his head, his mane swishing into his face with the movement. "I'm called Pattin...and you are?"

Val smiled when the lion stumbled over the formal name. "Its better known as Feverfew. It is sad that it is useful but if it destroys everything else in its quest to grow then it has to be removed." Val was quite passive when talking about destroying one of the herbs that she worked with when ever possible, she was after all the goddess of herb lore.
She was contemplating the simplest way to remove the plant when the green and cream lion asked if she would keep it in check. Val had to think a moment since she would love to say yes just so she had a continuous source of Feverfew but she knew what she had to say, "I'm sorry I don't live close enough to watch it the way it should and I travel to much as well." She thought a moment, a thought building in her mind. She didn't speak of it since it might not work but she made a mental note to head to Haven to see if she could find a particular god who might be able to help.
"Its nice to meet you Pattin. I'm Val, Valetudo'Sero." She smiled and nodded slightly in greeting, "Its always nice to meet other herbalists."

Pattin chuckled, "Well I guess fever few is easier to say. I'm guessing then that this plant does really reduce fever then like my mother claimed." His jewel blue eyes softened in understanding at her next statement. "That is true." His paw gently nudged the plant and he realized how easily it would come up right now. Still -
"Ah, then we're in the same boat." Pattin's paw retreated from the plant thoughtfully. "I would normally say let nature take it's course, but in this case..." He smiled faintly with a hint of bitterness, "Someone already pushed past nature to let this feverfew grow here."
Pattin looked up at Val and smiled sheepishly. He really was rambling wasn't he? "Pleasure to meet you as well, Val. Though you seem like a far more knowledgeable herbalist than me."

"Well not necessarily as the seeds could have been carried here by the wind or by birds but your right its not natural to leave this plant here but I really do hate to destroy a perfectly good plant. But at least it wont go to waste." With that Val quickly and mercifully pulled the offending plant from its dirt home. With a sigh she tried to dislodge excess dirt from the roots before using her claws to split the bush in two. Placing one half in front of Pattin she said "Here you go, just make sure if you put it down it doesn't start to grow. You can never tell with some plants if pulling them will keep them from growing." Now all Val had to worry about was if she got all the roots but she wouldn't be able to tell for a while yet so there was nothing really that the goddess could do anymore.
"I should be quite knowledgeable," she looked at Pattin with a question in her eyes. After a moment she finally understood that he didn't know and couldn't help but laugh softly. "Oh dear, I'm sorry Pattin I guess I should have told you that I am Valetudo'Sero, the goddess of herb lore." She smiled and laughed softly again, finding it very amusing that even with her wings visible that this male had no idea who she was.

"Hmm?" What did she mean not go to waste? Especially since the poor thing was about to be destroyed, Pattin's eyes softened. Wasn't its fault for having to live on foreign soil. His paws moved to cover the half of the plant as he looked up at her in surprise. "If I did let it grow, wouldn't it be fine?" He asked thoughtfully, "I mean if I tended to it because I plan to do that. No need to kill the poor thing yet..."
Already he was thinking about where he might try to coax the plant to life at home.
"Hmm?" Pattin repeated softly as he looked up at her. Was she some sort of well known lioness? Really he should get out more - Pattin jumped at the words 'goddess of herb lore'. A goddess?! Wow! Pattin's eyes widened before he looked up at the sky with a laugh, "I'm so sorry. I guess I should've noticed that." He managed to choke out before looking back at her.
Still, "Wow. You're the first goddess I've ever met, Val." Pattin realized this out loud and interest shone in his eyes, "And to think you're of knowledge, of herbs especially!" His gaze went to the side sheepishly as new thoughts came to him, "I'm sorry. As a goddess you must be used to more respect than what I've been giving you, Val- I mean..." He trailed off and laughed softly again. Out of all things!

Val paused for a moment contemplating Pattin's suggestion, "Honestly I never thought of that. I guess it would work." She looked down at the plant uncertainly, "I wonder if you could plant it in soil that was contained, like by stone. Stone would keep the roots contained I would think." The growth of plants was not Val's specialty, hers was the knowledge of properties of the plants.
Pattin's reaction just made Val laugh since she had never seen a mortal surprised by her, normally she tried to seem mortal herself. Still laughing slightly she answered the green male, "It's ok Pattin, its not like I announced it or anything when we met."
Val smiled oddly glad that she was the first goddess that Pattin had met, she knew that there were many who traveled the mortal realm. "Yes it has come in handy once or twice," she said laughing lightly before commenting on the second half of what he said. "Really its ok Pattin, honestly I do my best to seem mortal since it makes life a bit easier. After all could you imagine trying to apply a salve when the patient is hyperventilating because your a god?"

"It's a possibility." Pattin smiled up at her, "I'll experiment with that idea, Val." He was calm, though surprise still flickered in his gaze especially every time he peeked at her wings. He couldn't help but to be awed. A goddess...of herb lore!
"Aye, aye." He chuckled, a low purr deep in his throat. "Guess that is true - though most wouldn't need an announcement." His blue eyes sparkled in even more humor as he let out a laugh at the mental image Val gave him.
"Of course!" The lion's tail swished with humor, "That poor patient. Especially one so out of it that would believe they were dead since you are a goddess." Though it seemed a shame for her to hide who she really was. Pattin frowned slightly before shaking his head. Whatever she found easier - well that was her choice.

She nodded. Val was glad that Pattin would experiment with the feverfew because if he was successful she could possibly created a area to grow hostile plants like feverfew with out worrying it would spread, if she ever settled down in one place that is. She made a mental note to pop back in on Pattin sometime in the future to see if it worked before turning her attention back to the green lion.
"I would think so although to be honest I have only run into one other god here in the mortal world so I'm not entirely sure that they would be obviously gods." After all Val didn't look like a goddess unless she chose to so it stood to reason that others didn't have to unless they wanted too.
Val laughed at the idea that the patient would think that they were dead but it was more of a sad kind of laugh since she knew she could rarely be herself in that kind of situation. Brightening a bit she said, "Oh but could you imagine the reaction to someone who was mentally tripping from something when they saw me." The reaction she pictured made her giggle slightly, if she wasn't who she was she might actually try that just to see what happens.

Pattin's tail curled protectively over the plant and the lion noted that he would probably have to plant it soon for the poor thing to survive. Not like he wanted to leave soon since Val was here. Her company was really pleasurable to him, and plus he couldn't forget all the interesting things she must know!
His thoughtful gaze went back up to the goddess. "Oh. I guess that's true too, Val. Their -well your ways- are rather mysterious." Pattin shrugged, he wasn't familiar with the god concept at all. After all for him it was hard enough to just keep track of the mortal ways.
Pattin let out a roar of laughter, "Talk about a story for their children!" Or to not tell their children due to embarrassment. The lion shook his head in more silent laughter though his gaze fell back to the plant. Wistfully he looked up at Val but then sighed. "The poor thing needs planted soon or it may not live long at all." He smiled apologetically, "Maybe we'll met again?"
"That is I hope we meet again." Pattin corrected himself before picking the plant up carefully with his teeth. He looked over to Val and awkwardly waved with one paw before turning away.
