The Dragons' Keep Project
The Dragons' Keep Project
What is the purpose or focus of this thread?
This is a collective attempt of the guild to fix the current ratios of dragons within the Cave. We will be holding monthly challenges among our participators with prizes for those that can meet the challenge. These challenges are aimed at fixing the ratios of common and uncommon dragons and thus enabling the producing of CB dragons or successful breeding of dragons we have not seen in a long time. (Things like a CB White/Black/Gold... or successful pairings.)
Basically we need to increase the population of common and uncommon dragons!
What do you mean by ratios?
The ratios of dragons is based upon the rarity and the breed of the dragon. As we all know there are rares, uncommon, and common dragons. How Dragon Cave works is that for every set number of a breed or rarity of a dragon there is a set number allowed for breeds of a different breed or rarity to exist. You can see this in what is referred to a Wall on the AP page, in which you see dozens of a certain breed of dragon on the page... most commonly one can see pinks, mints, and pebbles/earth. Same goes for cave drops in which all three eggs listed will be of a certain breed. This is because the system Dragon Cave runs on is trying to balance the ratios.
So it can work something like this... usually there is a ratio of rarities going... let's say 11 commons to every 3 uncommon to every 1 rare dragon. (11:3:1) So an ideal environment for the cave would be if such standings exist.
Let's say someone breeds a Silver/picks one up in a cave drop. The cave has an excess of rares and to compensate for the increase in rares it creates more uncommon and common dragons to fix the ratio and keep things balanced (and fair). This also applies to ratios between breeds within their rarity.
Let's take the Mid-winter Madness Release as an example. The cave has hundreds and hundreds of common dragons of various breeds. When we introduced the new commons the cave had to fix the possibly 1:1:1:1.... ratios between the breeds. These new commons have to steadily increase in numbers until the ratios are fixed. (Hence the cave dropping nothing but the new eggs at the time).
So how/why should I fix/care about the unbalanced ratios?
Well that is precisely why this Project has been created. Everyone wants Papers, Cheeses, CB/Bred Golds and Silvers right?
I thought so. Well the only way to increase one's chances of obtaining a Dragon Cave treasure like that is increasing the chances for the fellows to be dropped in the Cave or to be bred and gifted out. (Thus we can hunt with more chances of success or stop pestering those with Golds and Silvers on their scrolls.) How can we do this? Simple... we work to fix the ratios of dragons in the cave. This Project's goal is aimed at picking up the common eggs from the AP and from Cave drops. We must raise these eggs/hatchlings to either a frozen life or to adulthood. This is the only way for them to count to the overall population of dragons in the Cave!! Killing will be frowned upon and his highly disapproved!
Hopefully we will one day have a Cave that can start reproducing the eggs everyone seeks and prizes a little more frequently. (Through our efforts of course heart )
Alright you convinced me... Are there any benefits though?
Alright I have been thinking about this myself. There are benefits to sacrificing what are your egg slots for the purpose of this project. Every month there will be a tally of how many of a certain breed you have raised within that month. A special gift of some form is granted to the person who raises the largest number of the said breed that month. That way there is some gain for you sacrificing your slots. (Besides the personal satisfaction at knowing you are doing something good for the cave itself.)
Sign me up then! What else do I need to know?
Well proceed to the next post and you shall hopefully know and understand more about how this project works.
So in recap we need to increase the common and uncommon dragon populations in order to be able to be able to see more rares in the cave. To do this we need to pick up more of the commons and raise/freeze them so they can count to the population totals.
