Okay, so my director asked some of us high schoolers to help the middle schoolers by singing in their choir during the play, "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever," so I went. For one thing, I was the only high schooler there, but that didn't bother me so bad... And then the performance started.
It was seventh and eighth graders, and I'm a senior. Well, when we started singing, much to my dismay, they all sounded horrible. Half were off key, half were off tune... It was awful. A complete and total disaster. As the title says, I'm never EVER singing with them AGAIN.
Similar experiences?

heh, yeah, I understand that only it's kinda like the opposite with my choir. In middle school, of coarse, guys' voices hadn't set in yet so they didn't sound terrific.
But my high school, ugh, our choir is absolute crap. Half the sopranos shouldn't be sopranos, the basses can't sing Baroque style (twitch), our tenors, for the number of them (7) they are pretty good. But, anyways, the only solid section is the altos. Our director is more obsessed with us having fun rather than making good music.
So I went to one of the regular chorus concerts. First off, half the people were talking in the middle of songs. Secondly, we were out of tune all the time. It was just, ugh, horrible.

Just so you know, I wasn't speaking of all middle schoolers collectively. I was talking about the ones from the choir here at our middle school. Believe me, I wouldn't say it if it weren't true. I've heard most of them sing individually, so I'm not being rude, it's a fact.
So, just a piece of advice. Before you make an assumption stop and think of the context of a post. You couldn't exactly assume that I was talking about all middle schoolers since I was talking about one choir concert in particular.
I never once said that all middle schoolers were bad. I was one once, yes. As I stated, I was talking about a particular group of them, not every last one of them. When I was in seventh and eighth grade, we had a decent choir, but the director's become less strict with the auditions, so they're not that great. I've also heard them singing different music in a different setting... So don't automatically assume I was talking about all middle schoolers.
Next time, use common sense and don't make an idiot of yourself by posting something uncalled for and incorrect. Thank you.

My choir here at school is about as good as the standard sophomore-level choir at my old high school.
That is to say that we're good... but the senior choir in high school was known to give performances that made audience members cry.
Needless to say, my current choir disappoints me sometimes.

Let's see, my highschool recently had to sing to, listen to, and sing with another middle school so we can recruit more memembers. While the middle schoolers were singing, I know some people were trying so hard not to laugh, they were so bad. Most of their songs had no harmony, and there wasn't much control on dynamics or pitch.

The middle school choirs in my area where horrible as well. I think the only thing that got me through choir when I was in middle school was the goal of getting into Chamber Singers when I got to high school. The problem wasn't as much with the singers themselves, although we were aweful, as with our director. He... had issues.
Most of the middle school choirs I've heard are less than exceptional, but my high school director said that he student taught with a middle school choir in California that was sight reading Palestrina A capella. eek
And Ayamechan, I completely understand. My college choir is about the level of the freshman choir at my high school, but we're improving... slowly.

I sang with a middle school choir once. Their sound wasn't what bothered me. It was their stage and performance edicate: they were talking during and in between songs, they were shewing gum on stage, and some would fix their hair or figit in a very noticable way during the performance. I was truely in agony that night. Thank goodness I knew their choir director and spoke with her after the concert. She was greatful and sad to hear the news, because let's face NO director wants to hear that their choir misbehaved ON stage.

My school district is pretty darn awesome as far as choir goes.
I can understand how annoying it must've been to be stuck in the middle of that sound, but it's actually fun to sing with the two middle schools in my school's spring concert. Last year I think their 8th grade choir sounded almost as good as our entry-level choir.
But they have an AWESOME director. A bit stuck up, though.

I'm in 6th grade
our chorus is TERRIBLE
But I think it's because anyone can get in...and it's hard to make everyone have the proper vowels at every time
And cutoffs are horrid.
I miss my dear Children's Chorus of Crane during the summer DD:
