Debate time. there prolly was already a topic on this, but i dont really care. I want to know your opinions. who do u think is better? this isn't just limited to guitar. bass style, guitar solos, riffs, drummers even lyrical content. I for one think Megadeth guitarwise. The megadeth guitar solos and leads completely own metallica, but megadeth riffs are too chromatic all the time. so, thats my 2 cents. Discuss both bands Debate which band is better

I don't listen to Megadeth but i'm a pretty big fan of Metallica. Their riffage is pretty cool - they're the only metal music that i personally play.

I agree guitarwise,Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman are on another level than Metallica.Riffwise,I'd have to go with Metallica because they came up with "enter sandman".The build up from the intro to the main riff is so Powerful.I think Megadeth's riffs are a little to technical, but in the end they're both great bands.

Dave is a better lead guitarist and the solos are better or not as good at points. I think that Megadeth wins cause Dave Mustaine didnt freakin change from the 5th album to some sorta crap which slowly got worse and then got way way worse. I love Metallica's first 5 albums but I think Megadeth kicks their a**. Not to mention my 2nd favorite Metallica album had Dave Mustaine in it which was even better on the Metallica part.

actually i was expecting to get slammed for dissin "the almighty metallica" but its kinda cool others share my oppinion. Peace Sells is the most riff-tastic song ever(subject to debate).

I prefer Symphony of Destruction. As for the question: Metallica for their first albums, Megadeth in general.

Unas Slayer Of The Gods I prefer Symphony of Destruction. As for the question: Metallica for their first albums, Megadeth in general. symphony of destruction's main riff is the worst metal riff i've evr heard, but it has my favorite metal solo.

Personally, I don't listen to that style of metal myself. I've never really heard much Megadeth, but I don't enjoy Metallica. Only Enter Sandman is an alright song, and one of my favourite bands Ensiferum covered it ages ago live, I have of it. Crap, Jari Maenpaa busts out that solo like a nutter. It's insane.

Man I love these two bands but I think Metallica is better overall cuz you can say all of their songs kick a**, I enjoy almost every song in all of their albums, theys heavy and get you in it, but Megadeth even though i love them I get borred sometimes because I like heavy stuff and metallica i s more heavier. When it comes to solos I think they are both awsome, and same with riffs but overall Metallica rules for me.
Hey what do you guys think of EXODUS? another kick a** band man awsome solos and killer riffs.

Didnt even sound like somethin Metallica wouldve made if you heard their first 3 or 4 albums. 2. Alot of the songs got annoyin after a while like Enter Sandman, Sad But True, Holier than Thou and Nothing Else Matters. Those songs got annoying and Wherever I May Roam is gettin there to considering I hear it so much on almost every rock and metal station. Metallica went s**t deep with Load and Reload but St. a**s (yea I know I butchered the name and thats because the album sucked royally) took the cake man. Whoever liked that album never freakin heard metallicas old stuff and the same with load and reload. As I said Megadeth never did what Metallica did after a while with you know ... makin albums suck royally after Justice For All (Yea the Black Album didnt have that many good songs either and it was their downfall album). Anyway if you like all their albums then thats your opinion but I think your wrong when you say they are heavy. Does "Saaaaiiiiinnnnnntttttt Aaaaannnnnggggeerrrr round my neck" sound heavy? I hope not in most peoples eyes. Exodus is good but this isnt a topic about them.

personally, I love both bands. But Metallica got soft. They sold out. Megadeth is still shreddin' hard. And Kirk could never hope to be as good as Dave or Marty. I mean, take the riff in Jump In The Fire or Train Of Consequences and compare them to Enter Sandman. It's kinda one sided don'tcha think? But I do think earlier Metallica has tougher main riffs. Things like For Whom The Bells Toll and Leper Messiah are heavier riff-wise than Angry Again and Skin O' My teeth. But overall, Megadeth was formed originally to get back at Metallica, and I think Dave beat them. When you look at how complex and awesome Hangar 18 is compared to newer Metallica, you seriously think how bad Metallica screwed themselves over when they kicked Dave out.

And St. Anger, the whole cd is pretty heavy in my opinion, I respect your opinion, and i know we are all different people with different tastes. and as for exodus i was just pointing out another great band that sounds quite alike those two.
