If there was anything more tranquil then the silence one could find by simple submersing themselves in a body of water, Nasuka had yet to find it. Despite the turmoil with the humans polluting the waters, the fighting she constantly saw her packmates doing, and other such unpleasant events she still found comfort in just closing her eyes while under the water. She had finally found a suitable lake to hang around for a while, one that was not already taken nor had the slightest bit of human influence. It wasn't the biggest around but it would have to do for now. Sighing a bit, she opened her eyes in time to catch air bubbles rising to the surface.
With a slight grin she propelled herself off the lake's bed and snapped at them, popping each one before it reached the surface. It was already evening, a time when the sun cast a lazy orange glow over the whole world it seemed. Peeking her head cautiously out of her liquid home she felt a cool breeze wander across the field beyond. Evening meant that those whose eyes could not take the extreme heat and light of the sun would be coming out, and that meant finding someone to play with perhaps. Orrrr finding someone to play tricks on. Grinning she ducked down low as to not be seen, continuously looking for a victim of her playful pranks.

[originally posted by miss skelly] ________RP FORMAT KEY:________ | Narrative | Thought | Voice | OOC | As the sun sets in the western horizon, the east quickly begins to become dark. Noticing the change in temperature, Soul's ears perk up and his eyes open slowly. Good morning... First stretching, and shortly after, yawning, Soul finally rises to his feet, his big paws scuffing the ground noisily. Just a tad bit annoyed from the dust he stirs, he snorts then groans and begins to tread slowly toward the tunnel entrance. Time to get a drink. I'm parched.
The wind is blowing just hard enough to make Soul's mane rustle as he emerges from his dark tunnel. Just a tad bit chilly tonight, it seems. Shrugging, Soul searches the lands for a suitable source of water. Mmm... Oh, there you are... He licks his lips then bounds off in a flash toward the small lake in the distance, his paws barely touching the earth as he runs.
Sorry it took so long. It's been a long time since I have RPed. u.u; This should be fun. I find it funny that Nasuka is going to try a prank on Soul. x3 Oh, and I like to RP in present tense. I hope that doesn't mess you up. .__.;

Already her sensitive ears picked up the faint thumps of feet making contact with the earth. Whatever this creature was, it was moving really fast, as the noise was particularly soft even as it grew closer. Watching a blurr growing larger and larger in the not-so-distant distance, she realized it was in fact a fellow Trast, and Nasuka gave a snort and disappeared into the depths of the lake with only the faintest splash to announce she was there. Propelling herself away from the edge gracefully with her finned tail she turned around, facing the direction she'd come from.
The lake was silent and as such, she could easily tell whenever the mouth of a thirty fellow broke the water's edge. She waited for said noise, eyes scanning the edge. It didn't take long for the other to make his/herself known, and Nasuka's silver eyes glittered wildly in what remaining light there was. The lake wasn't deep - a mere six feet at the lowest part - but she was fairly confident it was enough to hide her if she was a good yard and a half away from the Trast. As silent as if she were hunting, she slowly approached the surface, until her nose broke noiselessly through once again.
Carefully, she managed to see where the Trast was standing exactly, though without raising more then her mouth and nose out of the water. Her mouth was closed, cheeks puffing out slightly considering she was about to fire a stream of water directly at the unlucky Trast. Aiming, she got a bit closer (though with the utmost care), and spat the liquid at what she assumed to be his head, and dipped back into the water, trying to control her snorting laughter so air bubbles wouldn't give her away.

[originally posted by miss skelly] ________RP FORMAT KEY:________ | Narrative | Thought | Voice | OOC | Soul slows to a light jog as he nears the lake's edge. Finally... He leans down awkwardly to lap the water into his dry mouth.
Thump-Thump. Thump-Thump.
Soul pauses, turning his attention to the sound his sensitive ears picked up. He waits, not moving his head, only his eyes, searching the lake's surface. Where are you?
Thump-Thump. Thump-Thump.
It's growing closer... He continues to listen to the loud beating in his ears, the beating of another trast's heart. Soul still remains unmoving, the fur beginning to stick straight up on the back of his neck. I'm waiting... You won't surprise me.
Suddenly, out of almost nowhere, a blast of water streams right for his head. Soul opens his eyes wide and dodges out of the wet attack just in time. Unfortunately, he doesn't come out completely unscathed, as the ends of his long mane are dripping wet. Growling to himself, Soul drops down to a crouching position. He roars in what would normally be considered his alpha voice to his pack, "Who is there? Come out and show yourself!"
Sorry. I walked the dogs. x.x;

She could practically feel the muddy lake beneath her tremble with how loud the Trast was yelling! Nasuka tilt her head to the side curiously, wondering what on earth he'd gotten his fur in a twist about. It was just a little water! But then again, from experience, she knew a lot of people didn't like being surprised. Well that was no fun at all. Making sure she was still in the middle of the lake so that he couldn't reach her if he got violent, Nasuka suddenly emerged, head and all, peering at the stranger with a kindly expression, though one that was a bit agitated at his tantrum.
"Calm down. It's all in good fun!" She gave a wide smile towards him, flipping over on her back and making sure she sent a nice big splash with her tail in his direction as she again disappeared into the water. She came back up a moment later, blowing a bubble into the air only for it to be carried away on the wind. Now that she'd stop moving she'd had a good chance to look at him. He seemed kind of regal...but to be honest, she'd never seen him in her life. By the way he went roaring around with such a scary voice you'd think he was an alpha. But Nasuka had never been bound to any pack, and stayed clear of the caves when she could help it, so it was kind of foreign to her.
"Your eyes have to be the greenest things I've ever seen." She marveled suddenly, and quite randomly. "That stare of yours goes right to the soul. But anyways, I'm Nasuka!" She introduced herself bubbily, still treading water and not daring to go any closer in case he still had hard feelings.
{ I actually think she used to be in Natura before Mare Maris came along but I'll just play it like she's been in Mare Maris her whole life. }

[originally posted by miss skelly] ________RP FORMAT KEY:________ | Narrative | Thought | Voice | OOC | Standing right at the water's edge, prepared for anything, Soul digs his paws deep into the wet earth and watches for the other trast to appear out of the darkness and into the dim light that is being projected from the setting sun. He stares unblinkingly at the middle of the lake as the other emerges. Mare Maris... I see... No surprise there. This poor thing has no alpha nor manners.
Soul begins to relax his stance but another splash of water is sent toward his direction, interrupting him from doing so. Instead, he snarls and leaps gracefully out of the way, this time completely dodging the water. "That's very rude. All in good fun or not," he says, his tone dropping to a very low, calm, and soothing sound. This is the way Soul usually is. It is very rare that he gets upset, but being unnecessarily wet is not something he is fond of. "I'm not one to get excited about being splashed." Pausing, he shakes his head vigorously, the water flinging from the braids and loose strands of his mane.
"I apologize if I seemed rude. My name is Soul. Try to greet your guests with more manners next time. I'm finished here." He starts to leave, turning his back to Nasuka and the lake.

"Soul soul soul...that sounds familiar." Nasuka began to float on her back, using her tail to propell herself around in small, lazy circles. Watching the sky float around overhead, she wondered why he had said sorry, but his heart hadn't seemed to really be in it. "Don't say something unless you mean it!" She commanded, though her tone was childish, very playful. It wasn't like her to take anything seriously and this was no different. Rolling onto her stomach again, she drifted closer to the shore with every step he took away from the lake, feeling it safe to do so.
He had a rough exterior (to say the least) but he didn't seem like the sory to hurt anyone unless really provoked. But then again, Nasuka was known to be a bit too trusting. Pushing her paws up on the soft grass she let her chin rest on them, looking after the oh-so mysterious Soul. "Doesn't it get boring?" She asked, completely leaving off the second half of the question in hopes it might provoke him to turn around and linger a moment longer with a question of his own.

[originally posted by miss skelly] ________RP FORMAT KEY:________ | Narrative | Thought | Voice | OOC | Soul flinches. Don't say something unless you mean it. He replays her words in his head once then dismisses them, ignoring the silly trast behind him. Please don't keep taunting me...
He listens intently as Nasuka glides toward the shore, half-expecting her to do something stupid. Why is she following me? He sighs and comes to a stop slowly. Sitting on his haunches, Soul turns his head slightly to his left shoulder. Giving in, he responds, asking, "What?"

[originally posted by xx - shadow requiiem] Her tail gave a happy wag as she got him to turn around and respond. Nasuka might've been a pup at heart, but she wasn't stupid. She knew the right buttons to press to get what she wanted more often then not. Feeling mildly pleased with herself, she gave a feigned sigh, as if impatient with his question. "Being so uptight of course. It kind of feels like you've lost your ability to have fun." Of course she'd just met him and didn't really know how he acted when he hadn't gotten wet from her but he really seemed like the sort who was a plain old stick in the mud. Nasuka shivered at the prospect of growing old and becoming who this Trast seemed to be.
"Maybe it's all that land that does your kind in. It's so lumpy and hard most of the time and you have to walk around on it all day. Yeuck! Have you ever just drifted about in a pool of water? It's very relaxing," She eyed him lazily, a questioning smile on her lips until she realized something and it turned into a thoughtful frown. "Can you even swim?!" She asked, thinking about how she'd never in her life seen a land-walker do more then take a drink of water.

[originally posted by miss skelly] ________RP FORMAT KEY:________ | Narrative | Thought | Voice | OOC | Soul frowns and closes his eyes. I can't believe I am entertaining this young one...
He turns his body to face her, slowly, not taking a single step closer to the lake's edge. The last thing he needs is for her to splash him again, or even worse, pull him into the water. Soul doesn't have a clue if he can swim or not. He has never tried, probably because of his clear distaste for the water. He hates the way his mane feels when it is wet, so he avoids lakes, rivers, and rain whenever possible.
"Honestly, I have never tried to swim, oh curious one." There it is, the natural, thick sarcasm of Soul. "I'm sure I could if I ever needed to, but I don't see that ever happening." He looks off thoughtfully then continues, "To answer your other question, I don't really have any extra time to have fun. Besides, your definition of the word and mine are probably two completely different things."

[originally posted by xx - shadow requiiem] Nasuka frowned, almost looking displeased, which was a rare emotion to cross her face. "Well, we've found your problem then. Jeez...someone who's never even been swimming. And I'll bet you're even older then me too. What a tragedy." She shook her head as if pitying the poor soul (which she actually did because a life without swimming wasn't much of a life to her). But she found what he said to be a bit silly and made it apparent with a disbelieving frown crossing her facial expression. "You can't just instantly know how to swim. That's not how it works. It's something you have to learn!" She said matter-o-factly, though of course it wasn't in a snobbish way.
"Even if you're a mare maris. I sure hope you never fall in or I'd be willing to bet you'd sink." She picked up a small rock she spotted near her paws by reaching over with her finned tail and tossed it idly into the water. "Like a big ole rock. And no one might be around to save you, except for a curious aquatic dweller~" She knew any humor was going to be totally lost on the frumpy trast but it didn't stop her. To be honest, she didn't care what anyone thought of her. It was just about having a good time. But what troubled her most of all was his second answer. She picked her head up, and a moment later plucked herself out of the water. Shivering a bit as the wind made her side fins sway lightly she tilt her head curiously at him.
"Who is too busy to have fun? I don't understand." Nasuka asked, completely stumped by who on earth could spend the WHOLE day on work and nothing else. "Oh but I am curious, what do you consider fun?" She added, showing by her expression and voice she was genuinely interested. What could he possibly see as fun anyway? Maybe debating, collecting rocks, or something equally as boring.

[originally posted by miss skelly] ________RP FORMAT KEY:________ | Narrative | Thought | Voice | OOC | The 'older' comment hurts a bit. Nasuka doesn't realize how right she is about their difference in age. Soul watches as she flips the rock into the lake water behind her. He frowns at her suggestion that he would sink. I think I would fair just fine.
Lost in thought, Soul is a bit startled when Nasuka pops out of the water, although he doesn't show it. Alphas are usually too busy to have fun... but I don't suppose you know I am an alpha. Funny... After clearing his throat, he grins and dodges the question, "I don't consider splashing water on a stranger fun."

[originally posted by xx - shadow requiiem] "Let's take a moment to think about this situation in the event I hadn't played a harmless prank on you," Nasuka began, putting on something that mildly resembled a thoughtful but serious face, while running over the grass with her tail to feel the texture. "I would've popped up, and perhaps I might've kindly pointed out you were drinking water that I was swimming in all day, which is kind of nasty if you think about it," Here she made a comical face to emphasize the point. "Or maybe we might've had a riveting conversation about the weather, or possibly how lavendar the sky looks right now." A warm smile appeared now as she gave a little shrug.
"What others do in response just amuses me. If you try to make small talk with everyone their reaction is always gonna pretty much be the same now isn't it? Boring and pretty forced. I like to spice things up a bit, what can I say?" Once she was done being long-winded and offering a completely uneccesary insight as to her actions she realized he'd managed to not answer her question. "Hmm. Do you know how to play tag?" She asked hopefully, since she doubted he was going to answer her if she repeated herself. And even if he did he probably would've bored her to tears.

[originally posted by miss skelly] ________RP FORMAT KEY:________ | Narrative | Thought | Voice | OOC | Soul's grin begins to fade from his face as Nasuka prowls deeper into her imaginative thoughts out loud. Why am I listening to this? Why am I still here? I could have sworn I came to this lake for a simple morning drink to get my night started. What am I doing sitting here on my haunches listening to this young trast babble on about what she thinks might have happened had she reacted a different way to my approach when both of us know it is pointless to muse over. I wonder what my pack is up to. I probably should-
Soul is interrupted from his thoughts by a new question from Nasuka, one he really wasn't expecting. Tag? He ponders to himself for a minute and decides to ask, knowing he would probably end up regretting it later. "What is tag..?"
