Thali was rather eager to teach this student; Elisabetta was one of her daughters' friends, and one she thought she knew quite well. But what to teach the lust diligence spawn? The elf didn't know what the girl was interested in in the slightest. She decided to wing it; it had worked for 'Zuba's class, why not for Lissy's? She would simply ask the girl what she would like to learn in the way of magic. Once she finished with her notes, she looked up at the clock.

A thought struck her. Time control? Brilliant. That would come in handy for the girl, she was sure of it. Diligence kids always wanted more time. Well, Thali could give it to her. How would she teach it, though? It was a natural ability for some--Thali could do minutes at a time. She enjoyed tricking her husband with this talent, especially when he thought he was late for something. She folded her hands neatly in front of her, and awaited the arrival of her student.

Elisabetta was dreading this class.

In her mind she thought of Thali as a surrogate mother to her since her own had passed on, but that just made it worse since she...she..HOLY CRIPES, was it too late to drop out?!

She stood at the door taking deep breaths with her eyes closed. She could only pray that Vinny hadn't told her anything and that she was going to ASK. It wasn't something you talked to your parents about, though. Or was it? She mentally slapped herself. Get it together, girl!

Exhaling deeply, Lissy opened the door and smiled shyly at Thali, her tentacles playing hula hoop with their halos. "Hey."

Thali gave Elisabetta a smile. "Hey Lissy," she greeted the girl casually. "How are you?" she asked. Yes, she was unaware of the most recent development between the girl and her son, good thing too. "Sit down," she added, gesturing to the chair. "I thought we would be working with time today; unless you have any suggestions?" She paused and waited for an answer, before...

"So, are you dating Vincent yet? He told me he fancied you; but I doubt if he's the courage to ask you himself."

Lissy returned the smile awkward and sat down, taking a little to long to adjust her skirt. "I-I'm fine. Just fine." Her voice squeeked. With a gulp, she continued. "Time magic? That sounds pretty cool, so ya, I'm good with it."

It had taken longer than she thought, but there it was, the big question. She chewed on her bottom lip, the tips of her fangs breaking the skin. "No....we're not dating. Sammi and Reiya set us up, but he never really...asked me or anything...you know..? " Her tentacles rubbed her arms in comfort. "So, how does time magic work?"

Oh yes, totally sneaky subject change. Ten points for Lissy.

Thali nodded, finally a student who could appreciate magic. She gave the preteen what she thought was a reassuring smile, and silently decided not to press the subject of Vincent. The girl clearly liked him, the elf had decided. Otherwise she wouldn't have been so nervous when Thali had brought the subject up. She would have to talk to Vinny about this later.

"Time is a fairly simple thing to manipulate," Thali told Lissy with a smile. "Like boys, really. It'll do what you want, as long as you know to ask." She gave a playful wink. "To access the power of time control, you must first concentrate. Feel the flow of magical forces within you," she silently thanked whoever was up there that she wasn't teaching a child of humility. "Focus on what you want, and grasp it in your hands. Figuritively, of course."

Thali's smile totally creeped her out. It was like she was mentally plotting, or some junk. It made her shaking hands bead with sweat.

She took a deep, calming breath before diving into her studies. "I'll give it a try, but I don't I have any magic," the preteen frowned. Rolling her shoulders, she sat straight back in her chair and closed her eyes. The ADHD caused her to have a harder time concentrating on one thing solely, but she definately felt something.

Her tentacles writhed like snakes. On reflex she clenched her hands. "I uh....I think I have it."

"Everyone has magic," Thali assured Elisabetta with a smile. "Especially you. You're the daughter of a powerful angel, and a demon. Of course you'll have magic. Vincent does--though, I wouldn't mention it to him. He denies it each time I try. He denies most things, though..."

The elf paused. "You know," she said, "I don't bite. You seem nervous. Relax, it'll be easier to concentrate." Why did Lissy seem so nervous? Was she afraid of messing up? Had something outside the classroom frightened her? Or was it the fact that she was in class at all? Or was it Thali herself? No, it couldn't be. Thali dismissed that thought with ease. No one would ever be afraid of her. No one could be afraid of her--she was much to kind. Too friendly. Something did seem to unsettle Lissy though... The elf wondered what it could be.

"You've got it?" she asked. "Focus on what you want time to do--you know that you'll only be altering the time around you. No one else will feel it's effects--that's advanced magic. I've never attempted it."

"If you call the ability to seduce people magic," She murmured, crossing her legs underneath herself. She wasn't like Vinny. Vinny had magic because he was the best on the earth. The guy ranked right up there with triathlons and mint-chocolate chip ice cream.

Lissy opened her left eye before sighing and closing it again. If she had her way, she would stop this class all together and leave before Thali ever knew what had happened. She concentrated on slowing everything down. The little strand popped. "Oh man! I lost it."

"It is," Thali said with a nod. "A rather useful one, when it's not getting you into trouble. I'm sure one could focus that particular ability on seducing just one person if they wished to..." Of course, the elf had no idea, she had never studied the demon of lust, despite her youngest being a spawn of said demon.

"You're focusing too hard," Thali suggested. "You're trying to do too much. Try focusing on time through minutes. Or seconds; take it by unit, instead of the whole. That should make it easier." She hoped it would, anyway. Maybe the preteen would relax...

She really didn't need that. Honestly, how could Thali talk about it like that? It was too weird! The preteen squirmed in her seat, slipping up this way and that with her magic while trying to keep the mental images out of her brain.

Lissy took a deep breath and exhaled slowly before murmuring, "One, two, three, four..." The higher up she counted on the number scale, the calmer she became and the clearer her objective became. Her shoulders sagged, arms loosened and her back slouched. And now that she was so close... "I don't know what to do next."

Thali honestly didn't know what was wrong with stating the facts. She thought seducing someone would be a useful magic to have--especially when it came to seducing her husband. He was far too stubborn. In any case, the elf decided to focus on the class she was teaching at the time.

"Focus," Thali instructed, relieved that the preteen had relaxed. Maybe they would get something out of this class after all. "Focus on what you want time to do. Do you want it to stop? Go faster? Watch the clock, I always find that helpful. If you're doing it correctly, the second hand will stop moving, or move faster. Really, it's up to you. Feel for the flow of magic within you, and focus it on what you want to happen. It should work."

What did she want it to do? Lissy opened her eyes ever so slightly to watch the clock and at that instant she knew. If time sped up, she could get out of here in a matter of seconds verses hours.

With a clear sense of purpose she concentrated, willing the magic within her to follow her bidding. It felt like forever when the second hand started to move. At first it was a gradual tick then it grew into a calculated swing. When two full hours had passed she felt confident enough to raise her hands and cheer, effectively causing a complete shut down. "Yaaa- Awww, shoot."

"Nice try," Thali said with a smile. She seemed to know exactly what Lissy had been intending to do. Of course she did; the many times she had attempted it herself? "Even if you sped time up enough for the class to be over, I wouldn't have been able to finish teaching you the lesson. You would be forced to stay after class."

"You're trying to do too much, though," the elf added. "Think in minutes, not hours. You are making progress. Keep trying. Try getting the clock to move five minutes forward. Keep focused."
