As the wind rustled though the dying leaves and made loose snowflakes take flight, Selena could hear the faint sound of her familiar flapping somewhere in between the trees.
It was the time of twilight, when Sel and her bat familiar, Lurnu, really began their lives. She looked up at the quickly dimming sky, it was already sprinkled with the tinkling lights of the stars. She closed her eyes and listened to the sounds of the approaching night. She always listened when she was out like this. For during the time, the transition form day to night, there was a distinct change in everything. Everything quieted, became still, silent, for a moment. The pause of a heart beat. And it happened right when the sun became completely engulfed by the earth and all its light faded from the sky.
She could feel the last shards of the evening sun light dance on her dark face as she faced it. Her mouth climbed slowly into a smirk, her eyes closed, her ears opened.
Then it happened. Everything fell silent as the last ounce of light was drained, and as the day died and was reborn as night. Everything was silent. And then burst into life once more. But a different life, much more mysterious, deadly, and spontaneous than the life of the day. Selena opened her clear blue eyes and looked onto the world, Lurnu perched on her back. This form of life and sound she was most comfortable with. She smiled and snorted with delight.

Devicius watched as the last rays of sunlight vanished above the treetops. Twilight came early in the forest--the sweet shadows of the branches did a great deal to seal out much of the light from the sky above. Still, though the forest was dark, his sharp eyes could make out a barely perceptible glow, a spark just small enough that it seemed, at any moment, that it would light the whole sky back up again. But he knew that it wouldn't; the sun was leaving, was on it's way to the other places of the world that he knew and cared nothing about. Now it was night, now it was dark, now it was time to... hunt.

A small smirk came to Devicius' face as he assessed his own game. There were many who thought him wrong to be so heartless, that perhaps he wasn't Angeni at all, that he was a demon in disguise. But that was far from the truth, and it only served to humor him. Yes, all Angenis were PURE. But not all were pure in spirit, and those who walked the ground seemed to not be able to realize this. How dare something be different? This was a reason why his presence was a bit of a shocker, and made many nervous. But it only served to heighten his enjoyment.

Yes, he hunted. But not for food--he hunted for pleasure, for beauty, for fun, all in the form of another Soquili. That was his game, to seduce and abandon. It was in this that he found the most entertainment in his otherwise lonely life.

And night was the time of seduction in his eyes. It provided the perfect cover to hide and stalk, then pounce and surprise and woo. Perhaps tonight would be another one of those nights...

He turned as a sound reached his ears. It was not close, but not too far. Another mare... he could smell her. And he set off at once, his great wings folded comfortably at his decorated sides.

The full intoxication of the night swallowed up Selena. All the sounds, smells, scenes were all so different during this time. They were all colder and more dangerous.
As Selena slowly walked along, having no destination in mind, her head suddenly turned. She could smell someone else. She had in her nostrils the scents of other nocturnal Soquili, but this scent was approaching her. She put up her guard and smirked. She was in the mood for something. Her bat familiar, Lurnu had also sensed the other's presence.

They only needed to look at each other to understand what the other wanted. Just as their eyes locked Lurnu nodded and took off into the night sky. His colored keeping him perfectly hidden.

As he flew through the sky, gliding on the winds, he scouted and observed the land below him. As he swooped in between tall trees and avioded thier branches, his large eyes had caught something. He perched and hung on the closest branch and observed. It was an Angeni stallion. He was also one of the most decorated Soquili Lurnu had ever seen, but he was surely the scent the two of them had caught before. He was heading straight for Selena.
Reading the stallion's face he knew his direction was not a coincidence nor was his goal of any good.
Lurunu gracefully glided off of his perch and flew back to Selena, once he caught sight of her he sent out a low shriek to her. It had been a code they used all through their years in Team Rocket, only she would understand.
Danger. A stallion.

Once Sel heard his report she couldn't help but snicker. Her eyes gleaming evilly in the moonlight.

Devcius slowed as the sounds of fellow hoof steps became apparent. His sharp eyes narrowed and gazed through a gap in the trees, adjusting to the dim night light. There she came, meandering slowly through the trees as if she were a natural in this part of the forest. It struck him as odd; most mares were not familiar with this area, the area that he had mostly to himself. She seemed to know where she was going, as if she had been here before--or as if she had an extra set of eyes guarding her. As if by a sixth sense, Devicius looked up to the sky, just in time to see a small, dark shape flit through the trees. A deep growl of distaste came within his throat, but he turned his eyes forward yet again--this new sense of foreboding only heightened his desire even more.

The mare was plain, at least in his standards. He usually played with specimens of more beauty and elegance, but something about this mare--perhaps that predatory gleam in her eye?--made him want her even more. His heart beat soundly within his chest; he moved forward.

He revealed himself to her fully, blocking her way as he stepped through the trees. His four beautiful wings unfurled to their full length, adding to his splendor. He dipped his head in a half-bowed greeting, and his deep, velvety voice purred, "Evening, my lady. Have you lost your way?"

His eyes gleamed, his smile was sly. He might've have used a gentler greeting with another mare, but for some reason, he knew that this one could take it. The look in her eyes--she craved it. He knew it.

As the stallion emerged, flashing her with his decorations and colors. She moved her eyes onto him. The way he looked at her and spoke sparked some regonition in her mind. She knew his game. It had been used on her more than once. Inside she smirked. These flirtatious games were used against lost mares all the time. Selena knew she could just leave right now, but she felt like today would be a good night for some games. She would play along.

Deciding on a strategy, she turned her head and crossed one leg over the other. Completing a pose that made her look adorable, helpless and interested. When he asked if she was lost, she looked away and tilted her head so her eyes were covered by the hat. "It is possible," she whispered shyly, "But i think you can help me." She bit her lip to seal the effect.
With a flick of her silver tail and began to walk towards him, face still covered and voice near-whisper. "I was looking for something...something important." She took another step, moving her hips suggestively, "But before i knew, night had fallen...and since i am afriad of the dark," she licked her lips slowly and took another step. "I became very frightened." Now she was only one pace away from him. She looked up right at his face. Her mouth slightly open, mane playing on her face, and eyes gleaming with tears. "Could you help me?"

Devicius resisted the urge to take a step back; HE was the one who did the approaching. Never did anyone else dare approach him first... but there it was, that predatory spirit, that aura that said, 'I know something you do not, and I'm not about to tell you.' The mare was brave, resilient. She seemed genuinely lost, genuinely frightened, but Devicius knew better. She had known that he was here, for she hadn't shown any surprise at all. That dark shape he had seen--it had been her familiar, he was sure of it. What else would have been gliding in the air directly above him, and how else could this mare have known that he was coming? It fit together perfectly... and yet, he still didn't know if she was playing with him. How... intoxicating.

His narrowed eyes watched her carefully, noting the shape of her body. She was well built, even if she wasn't entirely beautiful. Her eyes were dark and mysterious, holding more than her figure displayed. Those tears were oddly convincing, but even if she was scared, Devicius didn't care. He wasn't the comforting type--never had been.

"Afraid of the dark?" he murmured, turning away, ignoring her teary eyes. He stalked a circle about her, his wings twitching eagerly at his sides. A low chuckle came from his throat, his accented voice was smooth as it said, "You seem to know your way through this forest labyrinth quite well for one who is afraid of the dark. Of course, if you truly need my help..." A wing extended, brushing over her back, lingering on her spine, then folded back. The move was almost sensual, not the least comforting. But it sent a thrill though the Angeni stallion, "then I suppose I'll do my best to comfort you."

Then he moved in close, so close that his breath played with the silvery locks of her hair. His muzzle brushed against her ear as he whispered, "But we both know you do not need help, now don't we?" His tone was almost threatening, possessive. This mare... she was sparking that flame within him. The heat was overwhelming...

Selena could see the change in his face. He had not expected her play on things. She was extremely satisfied with how everything was going. She was beating him at his own game already. But it was only the beginning.
Her deep eyes were locked on the stallion as he began to circle her. They were still glossed with tears. As he circled she tilted her head even more and stepped from leg to leg, moving her hips fluidly. She smirked at his statement, "The darkness and shadows are mysterious and," she paused, "Enchanting." She fluttered her lashes at him, tempting him in even more.
"And you never know, what dangers or persons," she locked eyes with him now, burrowing deep into his mind, "are lurking behind the veils of shadow."

As he extended his wing towards her, she held her breath. And as the fine tip of his feathers lingered on her spine she dipped her back and let out a sigh, "Ahhh." He mouth even more open, she looked right at him with a sexual smile on her face. She knew it would make his blood boil.
Inside herself, she smirked and laughed at him. He was quite predictable, and he had made his objective crystal clear to her. She couldn't help but toy with him. As he whispered in her ear she closed her eyes and smiled, licking her lips and brushing her cheek against his. "Were you looking for someone more in distress?" She slid her nose along his neck and then places her head under his and brushed his throat slowly with her cheek.
