Emmaline Peace really hated the mall. Really really really hated it. As far as she was concerned it had no redeeming qualities and there was never any reason to go there. Except one. Emmaline Peace had a secret: She had a deep and abiding love for Victoria's Secret. Unfortunately she was also saddled with Hayden for the day, and bringing him into a lingerie store was not a good idea. Ever. Hell, bringing Hayden anywhere was rarely smart. The phrase "this is why we can't have nice things" popped continually into her mind when it came to dealing with the lolcat.
So she did something that went totally against her principles. Hell, being at the mall was against her principles - she might as well go for broke. She dumped him in the little kiddie play area near the food court, signed him in with the attendant and pecked him on the cheek and hurried off.
Hayden looked around consideringly. It wasn't that he actively sought out trouble, it was that trouble was such an easy companion. It always seemed to be there when you least expected it. There was a small plastic jungle-gym type structure and several mats of varying shapes and sizes. Hayden's tail twitched. What to do... what to do?

Kyin didn't like leave his children in the play areas at malls. He generally though it was a sort of bad idea and not something that should be done. Today, however, his sister Kerrigan was keeping an eye on Leo as well as her own daughter. However, the little brunette didn't at all get along with her cousin and as it was probably not safe to be dragging Leo around, the pink haired woman had no choice but to drop the boy off somewhere safe and come back for him.
So here Leo was, alone in the wide open room with the mats and jungle gym. The boy smiled his usual somewhat dopey smile as he toddled around, oversized wings half flapping half dragging as he wandered around, leaving trails of sparkles after him. That was until something caught his attention - something he'd only seen a few times before.
"F'zzy." he mumbled, heading as fast as he could (which wasn't very fast at all) in the direction of the cat boy. He had no idea what a lolcat was, or really why it'd be rude to run up and try to pet another child. But either way, here he was, reaching out to pat Hayden's ear. "F'zzy!"

Hayden, who had been deep in meditation over wether or not it was likely he could escape to the food court, was not expecting to be touched. His hair stood up and he jumped straight into the air, landing to face Leo. Hayden was not the sort to stay startled and was never the sort to be angry. Instead, he eyed the winged boy curiously, sniffing a bit.
"Not fud." Hayden decided, then grinned at Leo. "Ohai, not fud. Iz Hayden. Iz pleased to meet you. Srsly."

Leo smiled brightly, "Iz L'oL'o" the boy said, pointing at himself and reaching out to pet Hayden's ear again. "Iz f'zzy." the tot repeated. At least the little boy sort of understood his new friend's speech. It was a bit weird sounding but short like it should be. Lots of words were just too long for the toddler.

Hayden broke into a toothy smile. He was aware that his manner of speech was unconventional, which didn't really bother him. Which was good because every time he tried to speak like everyone else the words came out sounding strange, as if her were deaf or something. But Leo, while he wasn't speaking lolease exactly, had a similar enough syntax to make Hayden like him right away.
"Okayz not-fud Lolo." He pointed towards the food court. "Iz escapin to find teh cheezburgers. Can smell them over dere. Can haz. Wanna help?"

Leo looked in that direction and nodded emphatically. "C-can. Can haz!" he agreed after a few. The boy had no idea what a cheezeburger was but it sounded good! And fuzzy Hayden said it was fud, so it must be fud! Even if it was like no fud he'd ever been given at home (mostly because Kyin was rather particular about what he fed his children, particularly Leo).

Hayden beamed. Never before had someone bothered to copy his syntax, it made him feel all warm inside. Throwing an arm around Leo's shoulders he surveyed the area. "Dor haz lock, we go over." The door blocking off the play area was one of those half-doors so parents could see over the top. "Need distrackshun. Hmmm...." He looked around the room for the best possibility. "Need sumting to help climb over dor also."

Ooh! Climbing! Leo knew about that! He climbed on things at home! There were only really the mats around but the toddler grabbed Hayden's arm and pointed at them. "Pilez." he said, nodding and flapped his wings, pointing at the people in charge. "Sparkles."

The lolcat nodded. "Pilez is good." He gave a decisive nod and began dragging one of the taller triangle-shaped mats towards the door, attempting to look casual. If there is any creature alive that can look casual and innocent while doing something they know they shouldn't, it's a cat. If there is any type of cat that is especially precocious and adorable while they're being naughty, it's a lolcat. The lady in charge didn't seem to be paying them much attention at all as the two boys attempted to stack the mats.
"Good." Hayden decided finally. "We can haz escapez." He looked over at the lady, who appeared to be texting someone. "Maybe no distrackshun needed." He added, a little crestfallen. Distractions were fun. But cheeseburgers were better.

Leo smiled and nodded emphatically, standing with Hayden at the mats. "Oo furst?" he said with a nod, since the other seemed to be the leader. "Can haz esc'pz."

One of the biggest benefits of having a feline body was the agility. Hayden, young as he was, didn't even have to think twice. He merely leapt onto the mats and then easily up onto the half-door.
"C'mon, not-fud. Ur turn." He extended a furry paw to help Leo up. Hayden was fairly certain the other boy couldn't jump like he could.

Leo, or 'not-fud' as he'd been dubbed, took the paw with one hand and the gate with another scrambling up over it and landing on his rear with a 'thump!' on the other side. He was good at the whole climbing out of play pens. "We go nao, yes?"

"Yes. We go nao." Hayden grinned and grabbed the other boy's hand, deciding that Leo had jumped from not-fud status to friend status. Tilting his head upwards, the sensitive feline nose caught the delicious aromas of the food court.
"This way, wingmans!" Hayden said, tugging Leo after him as he wove his way under legs and between passersby

The boy, large wings dragging behind him and leaving trails of sparkles now and then, rushed after his friend, bouncing and jumping as he did. This was fun fun!
The food court wasn't that far away since it was one of the easiest to locate places in the building and the daycare spot had been put near it. Leo looked around in wide eyed wonder at all of the places. Wow! He'd never been to any of THESE before!
