There was a sandy-haired stranger in front of the University.

He had a violin slung over one shoulder and a most curious blade-tipped bow in his hand. As far as strangers went he wasn't too intimidating, except for his smile, which was so wide and jovial that it almost seemed to be fake. He was lean and muscley, and as he strode onto the University grounds, he acted like he owned the place. In a way he did, but he hadn't exactly been earning his right to it. He hadn't been to the University since he founded it with Alice one year ago and then hastily beat feet to travel the world.

He had been a man with troubles on his mind, a man with something to get off his chest, but more importantly, he had been easily distracted. He probably could have worked through his troubles without going on an odyssey of self discovery, but Remi didn't see the point of standing still for too long. After all, one never knew what might catch up with them.

He didn't realize it as he strolled around the grounds, but Alice was about to catch up with Remi.

The female had changed so much in just that year. It had been a year right? With so much going on constantly Alice could hardly tell what time of day it was let alone how long it had been since her friend and Co-founder had just up and disappeared on one of his childish adventures. Little did Remi know, if he had just stayed home, the adventure of a lifetime would have knocked right on his door. Literally. It had been about half a year since Alice had aligned her small territory to another small territory just on the edge of her own -well his WAS small, but today was muuuuch bigger now then it was a the time- And of course with that came what Alice called the kitten war. When Tempo's children were abducted by a Facility bent on testing drugs and using mid evil ways to try to pry open cats minds. Then there was Alice's second, her beloved (stubborn as all hell) Dhiren, they had been through so much together, so many things it had started to wear on Alice, but always pulled through. Keeping themselves safe and their home.

Alice was in her typical sundress dress for her lounge wear and a thick scarf, keeping her neck and bosom warm under it. She seemed older, more wise then she had when Remi had left, but then, a lot had changed in a year. Not to mention with the growing things inside of her, Alice hadn't really taken on the shine of motherhood, in fact she was sicker more then she was able to talk. Go figure, bet the labor would be hell too. She was wandering her territory, searching for the black head of Tempo, or Dhiren, she needed to talk to them about the new program... but instead she was met with the sandy blonde of someone she had long thought vanished. A bit of Alice's hot headed youth flooded back, brightening her cheeks and narrowing her eyes.
What the hell was HE doing here, NOW of all times?

Dhiren was just returning from walking the perimeter of the territory, a habit he had taken up recently, due partially to boredom and partially to his desire to be useful in some way. On his way past their boarder with the Ruins territory, he had run into Tempo; apparently Alice had needed to talk with him about something. With their dark-haired ally in tow, the Somali tom had been on his way back to the home he shared with his mate when he noticed an unfamiliar sandy-haired man standing at their doorstep. Dhiren was quick to notice the violin accompanying the man, and so his suspicious flare died down a little, but he still approached him with straightened shoulders and lifted ears. "Oi," He called to the man, "Are you looking for Alice?" Perhaps this guy was a prospective new student? One really couldn't tell just by a first glance. Dhiren hadn't noticed that his mate was nearby and already aware of the stranger's presence.

It had usually been Alice that came to his territory--he didn't often go to The University, mainly because this place gave him the creeps and he didn't like leaving his own territory without him there to watch the kittens...and now JiYong, who was wounded and sleeping back home. His children could take care of him just fine, which was good, but it was hard to think that just over the short amount of time that JiYong had been gone his children had grown into young-adults, some even choosing mates and working on getting out of the territory, and into a new one...

It was depressing. But he was proud, all except for the small problems he was having with SunBae, but that was no biggie he figured.

Stepping alongside Dhiren, who he'd grown quite fond of over just a few months. He was strong, wise[kinda] and kept Alice in check[also kinda] when it came to certain things. But her pregnancy brought back horrible memories of the children being taken...which meant he'd be spending a lot more time over here, and sending a few of his own territory members over to protect the perimeter of the place more often. This would not happen again, period. Those humans are going down..one way or another.

But as one could see, Tempo had shifted from his carefree, party attitude since everything had happened. He had things to worry about, not clubs to attend. When Dhiren paused and approached an unfamiliar face, Tempo perked his ears up and stepped after him--yes, he had a complex. Tempo was a large cat, stood a good head or two taller than most cats[he's about 6 foot in human terms].

Not bothering to speak just yet, he looked over Remi's head to Alice, who didn't look all that happy either. "Alice," he called, stepping around the stranger--but not after eyeing him suspiciously--and approached h er side to touch her shoulder. "Who's the kid? Is he causing problems?" Leave it to over-protect Tempo to want to chase a problem out of the territory.

"Hey!" called Remi, putting his hands up defensively, "Hey, hey, hey, hey. I'm no kid, I am a man, thank you." He eyed the two unfamiliar faces and grinned at them uncertainly, running a hand through his messy hair. "Furthermore, I'm not just any man. I'm Remi."

He paused for dramatic effect, and when nothing happened, he cleared his throat and continued on, loudly adding, "You may have heard of me. I'm a famous explorer and violinist, you know, the dashing type. Indiana Jones meets Bach meets Tintin." Leaning over to them conspiratorially, he added, "Technically Tintin and Indiana Jones are both adventurers, but I'd like to think I have a boyish charm and rugged good looks so I sort of have to include them both. You get it, right? Sure you do."

"Anyway!" he continued, straightening himself up and hefting his faithful Rupert back into place, "Alice." Flashing her a smile, he observed, "Long time no see."

Remi may have had a whole year to develop and grow, but it was clear that his suicidal obliviousness had not changed one whit.

If it was even possible, the leaders eyes became even more slanted, sparkling with some burning energy that would have sent most people packing, and running to mars. "Remi." Despite the clear hostile attitude her voice was clear, a little lower then usual but other then that the mask of civility. "long time indeed."

Alice started walking to the other cats, noticing the obvious changes in her former partner in crime, he had grown quite a bit taller, he was a bit more filled out and; if it were even possible, more cocky then before. WHO did he think he was showing up after all of this time. Why shouldn't she kill him on spot just for his ignorance, she considered this, a smile curving at the corners of her lips, obviously with pleasure at the idea. Pregnancy did not agree with her one bit.

When she was standing right in front of remi, she took a dam good swing at his face, palm flat and glared at him like he wasn't something she wanted to even touch.
"Where the ******** HELL have you been?! And how the hell do you have the nerve to show your face back here after you UP AND ABANDONED US YOU p***k?"

"Ali -OW- ce!" Remi responded as her hand connected to his cheek. "You can't expect me to stay here all the time! Christ on a cracker, that'd be like jail. I just left for a while to, ah, gather my thoughts. It's not exactly like you needed me around here, how hard can it be to run a territory?" He rubbed his reddening cheek and gave her a hurt pout. "I mean, I meant to come back sooner, but stuff came up, and it just took longer than I thought to get home. You know how it is? Sure you do!"

He frowned, since his explanation didn't seem to fix things instantly, and then the reason for her anger dawned on him and he said "Oh, don't worry! I got you a souvenir, I wouldn't forget that. I'm not stupid." Looking at the other two, he added, "I didn't get you guys any though, sorry, gang."

"Whoever you are, anyway. Who are you?"

Tempo bristled automatically, a low snarl rumbling up from his chest when Alice struck the tom. Was that a cue to attack? Was this b*****d ******** with Alice, did they have a bad past, or what?

"Never heard of Remi," he muttered lowly, defensily. He was crazy protective of pregnant females, especially females he was close to. Clenching his jaw, he growled lowly once more and narrowed his eyes.

But...Alice seemed to know who it was. So he kept himself from attacking...for now. But his fur was standing on end, and a single fang was bared at the stranger, he didn't want any trouble...but he didn't want to deal with some ******** who seemed to have ticked Alice off.

As Tempo hailed Alice, Dhiren looked over to her and took a step away from the stranger, ears erect and an uncertain scowl on his face. She seemed to know the young man, and the orange tom wanted to see exactly how. He stood next to Tempo, grateful for the larger tom's presence, and watched his mate approach the strange guy. His ears flicked back with the sound of her slap, and his frown deepened as her anger began to build.

So, this was Remi. Dhiren had heard about him from the Somali female, and now he could see why she was always so irate with him. This guy was an idiot. Amber eyes glowered as the light-haired man looked over to he and Tempo, and he moved over to slip an arm around his mate. "Alice, try not to get too worked up over this guy." He began softly, then returned his attention to Remi, "I'm Dhiren, and you've completely missed the point." The tom's bushy tail flicked from side to side, his fur bristling slightly, "It's hard to believe that Alice agreed to start a territory with you, you don't seem to have a clue about how to run one. What would you have done if a more hostile group of cats had decided they wanted this place for themselves and hurt her to get to it?" Dhiren glanced to Tempo and left the other danger unspoken for now. This guy was useless.

Remi looked Tempo up and down and said, "Hello Remi, my name is so-and-so, nice to meet you!" jovially. "Or anyway, that's how most people respond. Only with their name instead of so-and-so, obviously. Since I don't know yours, allow me to call you Frank. Jolly good name, Frank! Got a nice round sound to it."

One stranger sorted, he then swiveled around to look at Dhiren. "Well, you know how to introduce yourself, pleasure to meet you, probably, but, ah, I wasn't really aware there was a point! I've only been back for about ten minutes, so why don't you, Dhiren, tell me. What is the point? Because let me tell you what the point is in Remiland, which, by the way, is a simply charming place."

He ran a hand through his hair again and bit his lips, tapping his foot and eyeing Dhiren as he gathered his thoughts. "In Remiland," he continued, "The situation is thus: I, Remi, have returned home after a year long journey to improve my violin playing and gather my thoughts so I was in a fit state to teach at this school. I left someone I knew in charge and then I wandered off, sure, I might not have said, 'Hey Alice, you're in charge', in so many words, but I assumed it was inferred. I have bought the necessary amount of souvenirs and have enough interesting stories to amuse the general public, and instead of being welcomed back in like the charming and well brought up fellow that I am, you're slapping me like it will somehow make things better! Whatever is wrong, because," he gave a hollow chuckle and threw his hands up into the air, "This is the funny part, chaps, I have no idea. Clearly, something is. If it's not the souvenirs, what is it? What the blistering blue barnacles could have happened at a music academy in a year? Have the violinists rebelled? Is there a war amongst the piccolos? Or was it something I did, am I unwittingly wearing some kind of gang symbol? Do tell me, what is the point?"

“Jesus bloody Christ Remi I knew you were a bloody ditz but I didn’t put idiotic and suicidal on the list of things to remember about you.” Alice shoved Dhiren away, which had only been done a handful of times before. Her mate should have known better, him telling her what to do made her feel, and look weak in front of someone that was –suppost- to be her equal. With a heavy sigh Alice walked over to Remi once more, shaking her head to herself. He was gone, and he couldn’t have known all of this s**t would happen in his absence, but now was not the time to be any less hard than she had started out as, just a little less angry. She needed to be very firm about where they stood right at this point in time.

“Remi in your absence I have taken over the University, and I plan to stay the leader of it. You can have a position of power, but I warn you it will not be very high up. You have missed far too much to be the leader or even second for that matter.” Alice sighed and ran a hand through her hair, fixing Remi with her cold stare.
“Dhiren is my mate, therefore you will treat him with respect, or I will have tempo here, who seems to be quite irked that you decided a name for him, at the very least remove you from my territory. Tempo is a person I made a truce with so that we may keep the university safe from harm, they live in the Ruins territory paralleling ours. I suggest you be polite and not act like you run the place or I will –have- to take measures into my own hands and I do not think you will like it much. A pregnant woman can get pretty damn vicious.”

With a firm look in his direction she briefly inclined her head “If you accept my terms, then welcome home, if not… You may want to run because you would no longer be under my protection. My territory among others are far more dangerous then you may recall. Now if you don’t mind, I have business to attend, you may come if you shut up and don’t interrupt.”

Tempo was--seething, to say in the least. Beyond pissed off, beyond offended--and as he was named by the b*****d, he swore he saw red.

A low snarl rose up from his chest once more as Alice pushed Dhiren off..he hated when she did that, he was right of course. She needed to calm down or she was going to have something go wrong with the pregnancy...pre-mature labor or something. Gah.

Waiting till she finished talking, he stepped up past Alice despite his better judgement--and grabbed the b*****d by the collar. "How hard is it to run a territory? While you were out flitting around with your petty excuse for an instrument, a hoard of humans moved in and ******** with my children and many other cats. They've taken them hostage and turned them into miniature experiments for their sick amusement. My children are blind and deaf because of them! How hard can it be to run a territory, you ask?" Tempo was pissed--needless to say.

"I'll ******** show you how hard it is.." And he made a punch for the shorter cat's chest, figuring hurting that pretty little face of his was too cute to beat up...that and he'd rather not be responsible for breaking some teeth and whatnot. Sternum was better, bruised less. And with that, he shoved the kid backwards, not wanting to deal with him anymore. "Grow up."

[Sorry, minor god-moding but you can dodge the attack if you'd like. I just couldn't think of another way to word it. xD;; That and Tempo is pretty damn big and fast, so..again, apologies.. >>; ]

Remi let out a surprised hiss as before he could even reply to Alice with much more than a 'sure that-', Tempo went on the attack. He grabbed his collar, but as he attempted to punch him, Remi squirmed out of his shirt, dropping his violin and bow to the ground and picking them up again as he went into a roll. Before Tempo aimed for him again, he held the bow out in front of him defensively. He was quicker than he had been before he left.

Remi was an easygoing guy, but some things were just too much. Narrowing his ears, he hissed "I'm fine not being in charge. I'm not fine being attacked by someone that the territory I'm in has made a truce with. I thought that grown-ups controlled themselves better than that."

Dusting himself off, he said "I feel for your misfortune, however, the fact that it's hard to run a territory hardly justifies assault. And I'd like my shirt back, but I suppose you can keep it if you absolutely must."

Turning to Alice, he attempted to brush off his pants and added, "As I was saying before that exciting and action packed interlude, that sounds brilliant. I would far prefer a position I can be absent from occasionally, and of course, I'd be more than glad to teach my petty excuse of an instrument to anyone who would like to learn how to pettily play it, up to and including this excitable chap's children. As for my behaviour, I can't promise to act like anything other than myself, but I certainly won't claim to rule this joint or act like I do. I'm not going to suddenly become thin-lipped and serious just to live here is what I'm saying. If the name of the game is 'thou shalt not laugh' then tell me now and I'm gone."

He looked at Alice evenly. "You were there the last time I got into a battle among friends. If the pattern is just going to continue at the University, tell me now and I'll leave. I'm not ready for another one, and I have no desire to be attacked by you as well."

The femme sighed, looking between Remi and Tempo. “Of course you can laugh, just… there’s not that much anyone laughs at anymore. You have come home to the remains of a war my dear, and… the after affects aren’t pretty. I’m not as easy going as I once was, but I’m still your friend. Just please… don’t start a war with my other friends with me in the middle.” Alice had grown up since their idea to start the university, with the harsh reality that it wasn’t as glamorous as she had been lead to believe.

Reaching out a hand the Somali smiled to her former partner, now sometimes teacher and gave him her best smile under the circumstances. “Truce, until you do something so stupid I have to kill you. Now… we have a meeting to get to damn it.” True to the point, without a indirect word in her sentence.

Gwin was walking by when the whole mess turned into a bigger mess. Despite her many bright colors decorating her person and obvious appearance the group seemed to be completely engaged in their own affairs, so she had let them be. She was curious when people would start to realize that she was actually there when her leader surprised her. Alice hadn’t been known to back off, least of all make a truce when she was truly pissed, so this was a rarity in its own right. Stepping forward she gave a crooked grin, raising her sketchbook and winking at the group. “Nice day to go sketching, but it seems I’ve found something to preoccupy my mind with. Who is the fine fellow that caused this mess?”

Alice simply stepped around Gwin, shaking her head and begging with her eyes someone else fill her in and then separate the two immediately. Nothing like two airheads in the same room.

Tempo snorted when the kid rushed away, crossing his arms over his chest when the bow was focused on him. Like that'd scare him off. He'd stared guard dogs in the face, the death of his children, his mate. A little bow with a point at the end was far from scary.

"Watch your attitude, kid," he mumbled, tossing his shirt back at him. Frowning, he stepped away from him--only to look up at Gwin. Goody, more cat. Clenching his jaw, he looked to Alice, his expression obviously reading 'lets hurry the hell up'. He wanted to get back to his wounded mate and sleeping children.

Sure, Tempo used to be big on partying and having fun and not worrying about anything...but now he'd grown up, matured, and learned that it's not all about catnip, alcohol and parties.
