I don't have the funds to make a costume of a character but I do have a kimono that I made for a school project.

Anyone else thinking of doing that?

And no, hats don't count.

xD

I think the best costume I've seen were a guy who was Gene Starwind from Outlaw Star (along with Melfina, Jim and some Ouran hosts) and a Mudkip. I had major fan girl moments with both of those. I stalked Gene and hugged the Mudkip. xD

But those are characters o:

I'm thinking of dress up in more-so Japanese fashion styles than cosplay. I have one cosplay, but I also want to dress up in gothic lolita fashion and decora.

I've done the kimono thing before too. If you wanted to take it a small step further you can use geisha makeup.

Kapwned:
I know, those were just my fan girl moments.

chicobonito:
I did a kind of modern geisha make-up at Aki-con I learned from Michelle Phan on Youtube.

One year I went as a generic gothic lolita. It was a cute outfit though, and I had a lot of fun wearing it. smile

tons of people walk around as generic school girls and theres always a good turn out of lolitas as well as people in kimonos that aren't a specific character. I'll be wearing a steampunk outfit. I say wear what you want and be happy <3 I always do.
