Despite his bookish, lab-oriented lifestyle, Hei is very much in shape and has a well-toned body, although his skin is rather pale. Like Yuki, he's well-endowed by the standards of his gender, the likes of which has never been altered with surgical procedures in the way the rest of his body has. Occasionally Hei can be seen wearing yukata, but he most often wears the ornamental robes of his family which only serve to enhance the air of royalty that surrounds him. He sports his family's crest on his right shoulder, and has three piercings for each ear, the lower ones used for dangling earrings while the uppers and middles are used for studs and ear cuffs.

For the most part, his overall personality is the same, but his speech can often change when in the face of others outside of his family, or when presented with interesting things.

Hei is the head of the Noble Hakase household, and as such, he often acts as an aristocrat- he is shown to be serene and apathetic towards other people, keeping a mask of indifference upon his face, even when he's actually experiencing large amounts of inner turmoil. Hei also remains extremely calm, even when being directly insulted, to which he either ignores, or responds appropriately, by returning the favor. He is also this way in battle, and is seldom surprised by even the most drastic of actions. Due in part to his status in the Soul Society, Hei is generally indifferent, to the point of arrogance, in most situations he is faced with. He views nearly all of his opponents as a waste of his time and effort, and generally finds others to be annoying. However, despite this trait, Hei is a very perceptive man and is fully aware of the limits of his abilities, and just about anything he states in comparison to an opponent is not without justification. Hei is quick to point out faults and cast insults when he views they are necessary, though these are not without purpose to his own little agenda- they are usually to push the recipient into working harder, or they are to antagonize them into making mistakes when the respective results benefit him.
Scientific/Battle:
The biggest aspect of himself it that he is a researcher and personifies the stereotype of the mad scientist. Despite this being the most notable aspect of his character, he keeps it locked away, the exceptions being when he is faced with something interesting on the battlefield, or when he is shut up in his lab. During these times, he is like a completely different person, and plays the role of the Gotei's mad scientist perfectly. As a devout follower of scientific methods, he does not maintain a sense of distinction from good and evil when it comes to research, treating his test subjects, be they animal or human, as beings lower than dirt. On the off chance he offers a more hospitable environment or less dreadful terms of experimentation, he does not make the alternative much better. Of course, he views cutting back on life-threatening operations as being merciful. Anyone unlucky enough to be taken in by him will either never see the light of day again, or will never be able go back to a normal life.
For Hei, battles are large-scale experiments- instances he uses to test his different inventions, as well as his opponents and himself. He rarely enters a fight without extensive knowledge on his opponent, and in the case that he is forced to engage an opponent without knowledge of them, which is unlikely to begin with, he uses his high intelligence to gather it during battle.

Because he uses a cold indifference around others to keep them away from his life due to being a rather private individual, he is quite different with those he cares for. Around his family, he is kind and courteous, and quite protective to the point that he goes out of his way to ensure that no harm befalls any of them. He typically speaks differently as well, adapting softer words and gentler tones. In the case of Senka, he speaks to her like anyone would, in that he speaks to her, but not with the expectation that she will respond, and instead answering his own statements for her. He will not refrain from berating them if they act in a way that is a disappointment to the Gotei 13 or to the Hakase name, though the former only ever applies to Tsukiko. ___________________Biography850 - 358 years ago.
103 years later when they were 492, he completed this task and set off to join the 12th Division where he immersed himself in the sciences, using his super genius level intellect to master this area as well. In the shadow of the Captain before him he stayed, not wanting to draw unnecessary attention to himself. Silently he mastered the sciences and studied the human body, an act that later allowed him to perform surgery on himself if the need arose. 123 years ago at 727 years of age and looking about 47, Hei was labeled as a dangerous individual and taken to trial. It was believed that he had been kidnapping Rukongai and Seireitei residents and was using them in experimentation. However, it couldn't proved in trial and thus the Central 46 were unable to sentence him to death.
Strings were pulled within and he was instead confined to his own private cell within the Maggot's Nest. He spent 27 and a half years in that cell and while in there, had sealed his powers away, thus allowing him to slowly and steadily cause his Reiryoku to grow to twice that of a Captain's. After the prior 12th Division passed on, and the Division was left without a Captain due to the Lieutenant going missing and no one else desiring the spot, the Central 46 reached the conclusion that with someone unable to manage the 12th Division, that they had become unruly and that more and more hollow were breaking into the Soul Society because of this: he was approached by Tomomi half a year later. Tomomi had no choice but to set him free such that the Soul Society could continue to survive and offered Hei the title of 12th Division Captain. Hei took it immediately and began his life in the Seireitei once more. Once he was free, he founded the Shinigami Research and Development Institute in which he took members from each Division based on their intelligence in order to pool the smartest into his Division.
In the interest of science, he often used his Division members and other Shinigami for experimentation, and did so without anyone being the wiser as he used memory-loss drugs on the subjects. Of course, even if anyone suspected something, the Gotei was incapable of doing anything about it as Soul Society law dictated that they were unable to interfere with the affairs of the Noble houses. 97 years ago at 759 years of age, his sister bore him a child, Tsukiko, who lived semi-healthily for about forty years before contracting a particularly resilient strand of Influenza. Despite his best efforts, Hei was unable to synthesize a cure in time as the strand had taken a stronger toll on the child's already weak constitution. She died within a month and a grief stricken Hei devised a method to contain her soul in a machine. For a few years, Hei kept her in this machine as he developed the technology to contain her soul in a movable body all the while modifying her soul slightly in order to artificially manufacture Tsukiko a Zanpakutō of her own. Her soul had been weak, so he manufactured this Zanpakutō in order to strengthen her soul. After a year or so of work, Hei was able to insert her soul into an artificial body and give her a new life. The transition had wiped her memories, however Hei was able to maintain her personality. From there he persuaded the child into thinking that she was manufactured by him completely and that Yuki was her aunt rather than her mother.
Hei created and subdued his own Hōgyoku, which he later used to turn himself into a Vizard. When he was first turned, it took the combined efforts of his genius and Yuki's skill to subdue his inner hollow. Since then, he has trained his hollow abilities to their fullest potential. Hei was killed by Dolor's crest after defeating Aurelius and has since been resurrected by Caelum due to a deal he and Tsukiko made. Since this time, his hollow abilities have grown more powerful and he has also reclaimed his 12th Division Captain seat.
During the one year time skip, many changes befell Hei himself. When his adoptive father and mother finally passed on, he took over as head of the Hakase family, granting him their lavish estate, numerous servants, and great wealth. He has used part of this money to make multiple adjustments to Tsukiko to allow her to lead a physical relationship with Elisia, and has also made adjustments for her protection, which he still views he must do. Early on, he forcibly materialized his inner hollow, subdued it with his abilities, and proceeded to alter it's very soul in the same manner he had done to Tsukiko's when he brought her back to life. Once the hollow had gained a Resurrección, Hei put the hollow back inside his body and submitted it to training with both of his spirits where it honed it's abilities to the fullest extent while Hei put himself in a medically induced coma for seven months, allowing the hollow to train for roughly 22 years inside his mind. Because of the fact that the hollow could potentially release itself now that it had surpassed Hei in power, Hei enforced a sealing rule using the abilities of Ciel, his former 3rd Seat, which slowly caused the hollow's Reiatsu and force of will to deteriorate over the next 3 months after Hei had been released from his coma. After coming out of this coma, Hei married Yuki in a private chapel, their union being known only to the man who married them and Tsukiko herself. Since then, Hei has reinstated himself as head of the household, having temporarily granted Yuki the title while he was away. As of recent, Hei is able to utilize this Resurrección of his inner hollow.
In between training the new Vizard Captains and caring for a pregnant Yuki and later a post-pregnancy Yuki and newborn Senka, Hei shut himself in the extra room of his apartment, which he had turned into a lab, and busied himself with concocting new drugs and the like, and re-created several of his inventions that were lost when Tsukiko exploded his labs. The most important thing he devoted himself to was the creation of a device that would be used to separate the Hollow from a Vizard to return them to normal. He completed the device within seven months and tested it on himself. The experiment was a failure, as his Inner Hollow had not completely been separated from him, but instead had caused him to lose his Resurrección. After his failure, he returned to complete the machine, but has yet to test it again for a second time. Also during this time, Hei tinkered with a number of memory drugs which lead him to accidentally erase the knowledge of Kendō from his mind without, and through a series of currently unexplainable events, replaced that knowledge with how to use Kidō instead. Initially he was unaware of this, but over the course of a few months of recalling events in which he could see himself using Kendō, and talking to Yuki about it, he realized what had happened.
Despite his best efforts, he was unable to return his knowledge to normal. Because of the loss of Kendō knowledge, the lack of time to regain his former mastery of it, and the loss of his third katana from his Resurrección, Hei realized that the shape of his sealed Zanpakutō were utterly useless to him. From that, he reforged both Shinkū Garandō and Iroazayaka Otome with Blake Reeve's assistance, changing them from katana into combat knives. This reforging lead to the subsequent alteration of the appearances of their Shikai and Bankai, and in some cases parts of their abilities.
During the seige, he fought Sakuya for a short period of time before Koudo intervened, and then assisted Yuki in fighting Ori. After discovering Tsukiko had been wiped out, he broke down and turned Hollow in an attempt to travel to Hueco Mundo and kill the remaining Sephira as an act of revenge. He did not get there before he collapsed, and later realized Tsukiko was still alive. He could not move, however, and required the assistance of his Zanpakuto spirit to break the 4th dimensional barrier surrounding Tsukiko's soul container. Shortly after he passed out, only to awaken in the hospital a day later next to his unconscious sister. For days he cared for her, pawning Senka off on Nu, until Hiiragi Emiya came into the picture. He tended to the girl in a brief lapse of character, and then bore witness to his eldest daughter returning from having just bound her soul to her body. After sealing the Hollow of a few vizard over the course of one or two months, Hei was imprisoned on the second level of the Maggot's Nest. Normally, his level of power and physical strength would have placed him in more of a secure location, but given the fact the 46 wanted someone to watch Tetsunosuke and that he was not considered a flight risk, having come willingly, he was placed in a normal cell.___________________AppearanceZanpakutō Position: Both knives are stored inside his robes.

ZanpakutōInner World Appearance: Hei has two separate spirit worlds, a Dark World and a Light World, each half being half of his soul, and each having a different passage of time than normal. Both are identical in appearance and resemble a valley with a river opening up into the sea. Each spirit can visit the other, but neither spirit nor Hei can be in both at once.
Shūmatsu no Tani (終末 の 谷, Valley of the End): Shinkū Garandō resides here in perpetual nighttime.
Shiosaki no Tani (潮先 の 谷, Valley of the Beginning): Iroazayaka Otome resides here in perpetual daylight.  Shinkū Garandō (真空 がらんどう, Empty Void) A simple, jet-black combat knife with a small protrusion at its base that Hei uses to pull it from the sheath. Its elemental affinity is Darkness. In conjunction with its elemental affinity, the reiatsu released whenever he is using it is black and gives the feel of being dark and heavy as if it's trying to stifle the target's existence. Shinkū Garandō is about a foot shorter than Hei and he has white hair and green eyes with an eye-patch over the left eye. His body is littered with jewelry. He wears no shirt and has black gloves that go up to just below his shoulder, as well as black jeans with a belt. Shinkū Garandō, while it offers an increase to his offensive capabilities in Bankai, is primarily a defensive Zanpakutō with a large focus on weakening the opponent by neutralizing their offensive capabilities, and using psychological warefare by stripping the opponent of all of their abilities and putting them in a situation where they are no longer able to use that which they are most used to using.
Shikai: It is triggered by the command, Hōmuru (葬る, Consign to Oblivion). When released, Shinkū Garandō separates into countless black, self-replicating atoms that disperse into the air, while a pair of clawed gauntlets materialize onto his hands and forearms. These gauntlets are little more than the physical materialization of Shinkū Garandō and serve little purpose other than adding to Hei's Hakuda. They have a density equal to 13/10 in Armor, and are durable enough to clash with a sword and survive. The primary weapon of Shinkū Garandō is the atoms that linger in the air in various concentrations- as thick as smoke, as thin as mist, or spread across a wide area, becoming invisible, but also inactive.
Shikai Special Ability: Shinkū Garandō's Shikai ability is to generate a unique substance that does not exist anywhere else in the universe, solid black, self-replicating atoms called Seigenshi (制原子, suppression atoms), which move only in response to Hei's Reiryoku and can be moved with his mind, or with his hand if he feels like being theatric. Due to their unique property, they cannot be controlled by anything other than Hei, as they would sooner suppress that which acts against them, and then they would bend to that force's will. Furthermore, they grow in number as they continue to consume matter and energy.
Kangen Ryōiki (還元 領域, Reduction Territory)
This technique involves the default positioning of the Seigenshi. When the Seigenshi are spread apart in the air like a mist, where not enough atoms are touching to form Ōma, they generate a field that causes abilities to be suppressed within that area by instantly consuming Reiryoku. They are not strictly limited to Reiatsu when it comes to energy, as it is merely a name. The Seigensehi can consume any energy that gives life to ability, notably mana, chakra, and chi. This difference between this move and Ōma is that Ōma draws in the entirety of the matter in question, but Kangen Ryōiki only eats up the Reiryoku that holds it together and makes the object useless. For instance, Hibiki's shuriken will cease to respond to Hibiki's will while inside it. Not only can this ability cause illusions to cease to function in the immediate area, but it can also prevent space/time bending there and break apart AOE techniques by drawing their Reiryoku inside. Given time, this area can seal any Zanpakutō within it, render moves such as Shunpo and Sonido unusable, and finally subdue any hollow residing inside a Shinigami, forcing their mask to dispel immediately. Hei runs the risk of having his own Reiryoku drained if he is not careful, though the likelihood of this occurring is small.
Ōma (凹間, Hollow Space)
When the Seigenshi gather into groups of at least five hundred (500), a void is created inside the group of Seigenshi that draws in matter upon contact and deposits it into a pocket dimension. Objects do not undergo deconstruction during this process, but are instead compacted. It has a limit to what it can take in at one time, which is dependent on the size of the attack, not the power behind it. For small to medium techniques, they can be drawn in instantly and without stall, but for attacks that exceed the size of say, a Hiryūgeki Zoku Shinten Raihō, the time it takes for them to be drawn in is extended by a few seconds. Of course, this does not leave Hei completely powerless, but instead leaves him unable to use them again quickly.
Bankai: Tomedonai Shinkū Garandō (止めどない 真空 がらんどう, Endless Empty Void) As his hair turns light purple, the tattoo around his left eye is altered changing to a different shade of red and a purple tinge creeps up his arms, non-uniformly terminating a few inches below both elbows. As his Shihakushō and Haori dissolve, a black pair of loose-fit pants materializes over his boxers. The gauntlets change forms, gaining two protrusions on each wrist, and both come to stretch all the way past his shoulder, spanning to the very base of his neck where they are fastened to two straps criss-cross over across his torso and attach to his pants at the waist.
Bankai Special Ability: At his command, the Seigenshi are absorbed into his body to create a wispy field that emanates from his body, one that is equivalent to the one found in Kangen Ryōiki. As this is Shinkū Garandō's final form, Hei has flawless control over the Seigenshi, and with this, risk of having his own Reiryoku sapped through contact is gone. Unlike most Zanpakutō, Shinkū Garandō's Bankai does not allow use of both Shikai and Bankai attacks at the same time. He can, however, still use them, but it is necessary to undo Shikirikeigen no Museigen Ōma on certain parts of his body in order to use his Shikai techniques.
Shikirikeigen no Museigen Ōma (頻り軽減 の 無制限 凹間, Limitless Hollow Space of Constant Reduction)
This is a technique that is a combination of Ōma and Kangen Ryōiki from Shikai. With the combination of the two techniques, matter that nears Hei has its Reiryoku consumed by the field, negating its effects, then is consumed by Hei's body without limit. Due to the field that surrounds him, illusions and mind-attacks can no longer work on him at all, effectively preventing harm from coming to him from anything other than straight physical attacks from the immediate body and the Zanpakutō's physical form (i.e., Yuki's sealed katana/ released tanto, or speaking hypothetically, Byakuya's sealed katana, but not the released petals). As it is with Kangen Ryōiki, techniques that augment the body lose their effect at the part of the body that touches him. For example, Zenos' Piel Titanium will cease to work where it touches Hei's body. By that same token, prolonged contact with Hei's body can seal a Zanpakutō and sap the Reiryoku of a spiritual being. While Ōma itself is able to consume spiritual beings and their physical Zanpakutō, this technique forgoes that capability to get rid of the consumption limit.

 Iroazayaka Otome (色鮮やか少女, Radiant Maiden) A simple, white-bladed combat knife that aides Hei in Hakuda by enabling him to cut. In conjunction with its elemental affinity, the Reiatsu released whenever he is using it is pure white and is quite bright, giving the target the feel of bliss and happiness, which can lure them into a false sense of security if used properly. Iroazayaka Otome is taller than Hei and has long golden hair and wears a white dress that stops around her knees. It supports her fair-sized chest by wrapping around the back of her neck, leaving most of her back bare. She also wears a type of shoulder-length gloves but her hands don't go inside at all. The fabric simply goes over the back of her hands and is held in place by a small golden ring that rests on her middle finger.
Shikai: It is triggered by the command, Hikarikagayaku (光り輝く, Shine). Upon release, the combat knife converts to pure light energy and reassembles as a pair of white bracers on both arms that start as gloves and terminate at the elbow. While they serve no practical use in regards to his Iroazayaka's Shikai, they do grant a certain amount of protection for his forearms, being able to defend at the level of 13/10 Armor and Hierro.
Shikai Special Ability: Iroazayaka Otome's main ability in Shikai is to allow for the manipulation of light for offense and defense. Because of the Light nature of the Zanpakutō, Hei's stationary movements see an increase in speed, which in return heightens the force of his strikes.
Shundō (瞬動, Instant Movement)
A technique that allows Hei faster movement than Shunpo for brief periods of time by supercharging the body to allow for quicker movement and is executed faster than both Utsusemi and Gemelos Sonído. While Shundō is ideal for short distances, the drawback is that it can only be used to go forward, requiring one to stop and gain traction before changing direction.
Increases Agility - Hohō to 130 in the instant it is used.
Yasakani no Magatama (八尺瓊曲玉, Eight Shaku Curved Jewel) [Shortened to 'Magatama']
Light particles rain down on the target area as powerful energy beams with both piercing and explosive properties, formed from both of Hei's hands, causing extreme amounts of area damage. Hei can control the spread of the attack, limiting it to a single person over covering a wide area. It can also penetrate water with ease.
Bankai: Kagayakashii Iroazayaka Otome (輝かしい 色鮮やか少女, Glorious Radiant Maiden) When Bankai is activated, Hei's irises turn gold, and his hair turns white. Afterward, his haori is replaced by a white overcoat with tan lining that covers up his Shikhakushō. The bracers expand to fit around the sleeves of the over coat, and if the jewels set above the wrist and near the elbow are looked at closely, the sight of multiple specks of light flying around inside them can be seen. The jewels are now fitted with the task of amplifying Hei's rate of light particle absorption.
Bankai Special Ability: Aside from allowing Hei to use light to mimic a multitude of energy-based attacks, Iroazayaka Otome's Bankai pushes Hei's speed past the normal boundaries, allowing him to maintain hyper-speed combat.
Kaeraito Keijōmane (変えライト 形状真似, Changing-Light Form Mimicry)
Hei utilizes the jewels in his bracers to stabilize his control over light particles, which allows him to shape and mold them however he pleases. On a simple scale, he can form a simple cube of light, or he can gather and mold light particles to mimic energy-based projectiles like Kidō, which can be used to cancel out their counterparts in a manner similar to Hanki when the light particles within are equivalent to the Reiryoku in the counterpart. On a more concentrated level, he can utilize a more free-formed control of it, allowing him to perfectly mimic other abilities, like for instance, Kurohitsugi. The mimicry is often times limited to only the shape and appearance, and not necessarily the exact power of the move being copied. For example, Kurohitsugi is a torrent of gravity, which is not something he can mimic with light alone, but he can put a minimal amount of light into mimicking it, simply to give the illusion that a light-based Kurohitsugi is being used.

xxxxx— Hakase Tsukiko and her sprit on Hei's choice to Hollowfy himself.Hei's Vizard mask has six short horns protruding from the front top and at the base of each, there is a circle of black with a descending black line near the bottom of the circle. The opening for the mouth is jagged and the bottom is completely separate from the top allowing for movement at the temporomandibular joint. At the bottom of the mask, there are 6 fang-like pieces of mask, two longer than the four between them and they attach to the chin and nothing more. Most sinister of all are the eye holes which made it seem as though he has no eyes underneath this mask while he is wearing it. Hei's mask is currently only able to stay on for 6 posts.
Reiryoku Separation
xxx...an odd feeling even if he was her lover, but luckily it soon became that she was not "wrapped around him" but instead had fused with him to an extent.

Just as the mask is able to allow both of his Reiryoku signatures to be active at once, it is able to force both his Bankai to coexist by putting their individual sources into Chronolock in the loosest sense of the word. Because of this, the two are separated constantly, and never allowed to interact with each other, but can interact with everything else. He can extend this to Yuki's Reiryoku signature when they are in close proximity, allowing her energies to coexist with his Seigenshi without being consumed. This ability halves his mask duration, reduces it by 2/3rds when Yuki's is added to the mix, and drains his power quickly, making it unsuitable for long fights, but perfect for a last resort attack. This ability works strictly for his Zanpakutō-based abilities and does not extend to his body.
Enhanced Endurance
Hei is perfectly capable of fighting for long periods of time without showing signs of exhaustion. Not only that, but he seems to be able to brush aside being impaled and survive an onslaught of full-power attacks from both Asami and Nu without being impaired.
Immense Durability
With his mask, Hei has incredible durability, being able to take most attacks and brush them to the side. While using his mask, it is rare for him to even be harmed and he has been shown to take directed attacks from other Captains without being phased.

Hei's inner hollow shatters the divide between Hei's two opposing Reiatsu and Reiryoku, allowing both to exist at the same time. The result is that they fuse together, and cancel both of their effects out, switching it to a Reiatsu that induces fear and hopelessness into the victim. The Reiatsu is significantly more apparent, and it creates the feeling of there being an entire ocean above the sky that is bearing down on the victim.
Cero (虚閃 (セロ), sero; Spanish for "Zero," Japanese for "Hollow Flash,")
Description
This technique is an energy blast, it consists of firing a blast of concentrated spirit energy at the target. They are typically red in color, but the color may vary between Vizard. Hei's Cero are released from his finger and are jet black.

Other Powers and Abilities Dual-Type: Immense Spiritual Power
Like all Vizard, Hei has Dual-Type Reiatsu. Even by Captain-level standards, Hei has shown to have tremendous spiritual pressure. It is very dark and heavy, and suffocates the victim instead of making them feel worthless, thus it is quite imposing to even Captains. Fine Reiryoku control is a forte of his, meaning nothing ever goes to waste as he has mastered the input and output of the energy, ensuring that the bare minimum of Reiryoku is used for any task, which allows him to keep the majority of his power in reserve.

Chōhigezutsuki (超ヒゲ頭突き, Super Stubble Headbutt)
A technique where a head butt attack is used with such force that it sends an opponent flying backward a considerable distance.
Oni Dekopin (鬼デコピン, Demon Headpoke)
A technique where a simple finger flick has enough physical force to send an opponent flying a considerable distance away, even with enough power to crash through multiple physical constructs.
Tesshō (鉄掌, Iron Palm)
A open palm strike that can effortlessly shatter a hollow's head to pieces with single strike.
Intelligence
Born a child prodigy, Hei is nothing short of a super genius, such a status giving him the superb ability to tear an opponent's actions and movements to shreds and understand them within a matter of seconds, if not instantly. For this reason, he is nearly impossible to fool and most will often find that whatever they do has either been planned by him or has been anticipated beforehand and had the appropriate countermeasures set in motion. With an affinity for the scientific arts, Hei is well versed in multiple areas of technology and scientific advancement. For this reason he was able to create Tsukiko's body, his single greatest creation and the most advanced piece of technology in existence. Other than that, he is responsible for most, if not all, the devices that make comfortable living possible within the Seireitei. By using the knowledge of the elements, he is able to take all of his abilities to the next level, using unorthodox methods of using his abilities that were unheard of prior of his using them. Some examples of this being using refraction in ice to turn his opponents into swiss cheese. Perhaps his greatest strength regarding his intelligence, however, is his overwhelming ability to deceive and outwit others and play to their fears. Not only is he able to hide his true intentions from everyone but Yuki, he is often using a farce to cover another farce to cover his true intentions such that, if perhaps his initial farce be found out, he is able to act as another has actually figured him out, when in reality they haven't. Aside from hiding his true intentions, he is masterful in hiding his weaknesses due to his careful planning and tendency to avoid those who could actually deal him damage.
Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant
Hei exhibits proficient hand-to-hand combat skills with more talent for offense than defense. He is quite adept in Kung Fu and relies more on medium-strength fluid motions than direct, brute force attacks.

A hakuda technique involving an axe kick while in mid-air.
Swordsmanship Expert
Hei is an expert swordsman, capable of flawless precision and lethal attacks without much effort.
Hitotsume: Nadegiri (撫で斬り, The First: Killing Stroke)
This basic technique allows for a precision cut of extreme force and speed, it can casually slice through large, multi-story high opponents protected by steel skin. The opponent can be killed with one swift slash so precise, that they aren't even aware of until after it has taken place.
Hōzuri (頬摺, Cheek Stroke)
A simple light slash technique that is meant only to lightly graze and cause superficial wounds.
Kidō Expert:
Hei has a certain level of proficiency with Kidō, and he is able to use all Hadō and Bakudō.
Master Strategist & Tactician
Hei has repeatedly shown himself to be a very insightful and cunning man with a talent for thinking things well in advance as well and able to perceive any situation at hand. He has also shown to be a very perceptive and analytical man from how quickly he can analyze an opponent's power and attack patterns to ultimately make them useless against him. He has great tactical acumen, which was shown when he quickly formulated a plan to stop Aurelius without even being present.
Shunpo Expert
Hei is considerably fast and is capable of maintaining high speed movements for extended periods of time. While not as fast as a master, he can keep up quite effectively. Miscellaneous Information Likes: Yuki and his children, quiet, new knowledge, the night sky, tea.
Dislikes: Heat, cold, being outside.
Fears: The deaths of any of his family members

Hakase (博士) as a whole can be read as Expert, Learned Person, Doctorate, Dr (as a title), Professor, and PhD, all of which are alluded to by his overall mastery of his skills.
