This is my domain. I am an insomniac with an addiction to video games, mainly RPG's. Drop by to talk about games, ask for help or anything else related to games. Beware... I have an attitude, and it sometimes gets the better of me. Now as I said... I will help out with gaming stuff, but that doesn't mean I will treat you nicely. For that to happen you would have to be one of those few I trust and respect.. There are some times though when you might catch me in a good mood.

Of course regular chatting is fine too, not everything here needs to be game related. I am well aware of the randomness that appears in this place and it is a welcomed aspect.

Game art and Video clip links may get posted here. Myself or anyone else posting take no credit for the work done, and if they do I will have the post deleted and talk to a crew member about it.

Well Lets see how long I last here...

Once in awhile I will post a Trivia questions, and I will offer awards.

Quote:
Question One: In the Wild ARMs series, ARMs stand for two things an Item few can use and a name of an organization? Tell me what ARMs (item) and A.R.M.S (name) stand for...

1k to the first with a correct answer... Winner was Yngwie.

An ARM is basically any firearm: guns, rocket launchers, etc. However, up until Advanced 3rd they were required to be synchronized with the user's "spirit" in order to function.

In the first game, "A.R.M" stood for "Ancient Relic Machine". In 2nd Ignition, A.R.M.S. stands for "Agile Remote Mission Squad", and in Advanced 3rd, "A.R.M." stands for 'Artifacts of Ruins: Memories'.

Impressive.. Not many people I know even heard of the game.

You are correct.

In the 3rd there was still the spirit Sync, but they got carried away and made it so alot of people could handle arms.

That game should have done better. The main characters were way to simular. The older games were better only cause the characters varied.

2nd Advance FTW! xd

I own and have played through the first one in the series and liked it quite a bit. I've got 2 and 3, but they're on the ever-growing, giant-backlog-of-games-I-still-need-to-play-through list. sweatdrop

I'm interested in checking out the remake of the first one to see what all they've changed (and whether the changes were for the better or not).

I saw it in the store the graphics look great. I have already seen some of the anime in the game aswell. I think I am going to get it.

>_> I hope they remake the second game.

Knight Blazer was cool.

Considering the band Yngwie and I are affiliated with/occasionally play with is called "Condition Green", I think you can assume we're Wild Arms fans.

That said, the first one's my favorite, because it just perfectly seems to blend all of the best aspects of the SNES-styled RPG elements together into one awesome game.

WA1 was pretty good. 3nodding

I've at least seen the first few minutes of it's remake (Alter Code F), and I must say although the new intro movie is decent, I still prefer the original (the song that goes with it is just better IMO).

Just finished WA2 last night. 3nodding ...although I didn't fight any of the optional "pyramid" bosses. I still have my save though, should I decide to go back and do that.

I also fooled around with some OpenGL shader code for Pete's OpenGL2 plugin for the ePSXe emulator that I used when playing the game (yay, higher resolution!... 640x480 is much better than 320x240).

...and for those interested here's some comparison shots of the "original" (at 640x480), with shots of my shader code to give it more of a cel-shading-ish look. domokun

Check it out...

Trying to decide what to play next to check out the shader with other games...

Edit: seems it resized some of the pics, but you should get the idea...

I love the altered screenshots.

But I hated that dungeon so much.

Alter Code F was fun to play. I liiked playing that alot, though the original was fun aswell. Like I said earlier I hope they remake 2nd Ignition.

I just rented 4th Detonator. They changed alot of things some which I like. Like the ability to crouch, slide, jump, and use accelerator any time you want outside of battle. Accelerator was needed to escape traps, or cross bridges before they collapse. When you talk with people you see an anime image of the person normaly full sized but sometimes smaller.

They changed the battle system too. They use what they call the HEX system which makes you use stratagy to fight. They also added combination attacks for you members that use your force guage.

Overworld map was removed though... Didn't really like that. It uses a map system now, like Legend of Dragoon, actually more like Suikoden 3. Basicly move a cursor over the destination, and click to enter.

Can't explore inside houses now too, as soon as you enter a house you automaticly talk to who ever is in there and leave.

Story Line is some what interesting, but I haven't gotten far in the game yet. I heard some bad things about the ending though, like they leave things unfinished.

Hmm... the question is: Poor planning, or left open for a possible direct sequel? confused

From what I read poor planning.. Most people said it was a forced ending.. That didnt really explain certain things well. Not left open for a sequel.

It even states what each person did when they got older.. But left out minor and major details that people wanted to know.

I'm playing Alter Code F, right now. So far, I've gotten a few hours into the game (I just got to the Faire), but there's a few things I both like and dislike that have been added.

For one, the combat system seems to be pretty much the same as ever. The main difference is that they seem to have decided to specify who's good at what. Rudy now ONLY uses his arm. Actually, Rudy actually controls like he's straight out of Wild Arms 3. He has to reload with defense, and his special comes from new ammunition cartridges. You have to upgrade his gun at ARMs shops.

Jack is now officially a goddamned Samurai. He attacks by whapping characters with his sheathe, and only unsheathes it for his specials. Fast Draws are still found by wandering around the goddamned map until something random strikes Jack as a good idea to turn into a special move, but they also level up if you use them often.

Cecillia...is Cecillia. Her magics are still uber, but her physical attacks suck.

There's three hidden characters. Two of them appear to be Emma and Jane, and the third is supa secret hidden number one.

90% of the soundtrack are themes that are redone by Michiko Naruke. For the most part, these are as good (if not better) than the originals. But when Naruke misses, he really ******** up. The tracks also appear to be redone to be slower, and more even tempoed. For a comparison, download "Courage!" from both games, to see what I mean.

I think they did way better with Rudy then what they did in Wild ARMS 3. The special shots were all that were really missing in 3. xp I dont think they really did that bad with him.

Wild ARMs 3 only had a few faults that kinda doomed it, like every character with the same moves. -_-

Hmm.. I was actually guessing if he might be the other one.

So, I guess the question now is... should I even bother with WA3 ...or just skip to WA:ACF? whee

I'm currently playing through the first of the Arc the Lad games for the first time. I had to adjust my shader code a little for the color cutoffs and manipulation, since this game is much brighter to begin with than WA2 (I thought the pallette on WA2 seemed really dark overall when I was working on it but wasn't 100% certain at the time). It doesn't make as much of a difference in 2D games though as it does in the 3D ones.

Just realize that it feels very odd in comparison to the old game, but still is good. You have a party of 4, everyone and their goddamn brother uses ARMs of some variety, and the leveling curve is extremely steep. That said, it was...decent.
