The Guide Lines and Rules to Role-playing!

1.) Grammar is an important role in role-playing. Though, some mistakes are usually over-looked, a dictionary, spell-check and even Word are your best friends.
2.) Quotation marks are absolutely NEEDED for character speech, use them.
3.) Role-playing is like a book, but written by multiple people. You do not use action characters to represent character action, just type them out. Action characters are as follows: *, -, ~.
4.) In role-playing, you use THIRD person. The only time you use your second and first person nouns are when your character speaks.
5.) Rude / Jerky characters can make a good role-play. However, this is a difference between rude and a complete a*****e. Learn the difference.
6.) Quality is wanted more than quantity; however, quantity is wanted as well. You should learn how to balance the two.
7.) Description can be your best-friend, especially in an intro post. Learn how to use description wisely and efficiently.
8.) God-modding, auto-dodging and all the other things are a big no-no and will make people mad. You are not to control a character or kill another character unless you have permission.
9.) For OOC, use some sort of brackets or parenthesis. If you do not want to use them, make sure to mark BIC: before your actual post so people know where your actual post is.

Description is Key!

In this guild, we have a three sentence rule. This is easily maintained with description. Instead of typing this out:

Sora ran up to the other wolves and barked happily, “Hey!”

You could do something like this:

Sora at first thought she was lost but then scents of fellow wolves wafted up into her nostrils. She ran towards them, tongue flying out of her mouth and her tail wagging a mile a minute. When she saw the group, she skidded to a halt and barked at them in greeting, “Hey!”

Also, descriptions around your settings are also very important. Instead of,

Sora was in a small clearing, surrounded by trees.

You should type out:

Sora was lazily lying on a large rock, tail thumping against the cool stone. The rock she laid on was in the middle of a small clearing, which was surrounded by ancient pines. The clouds lazily floated across the sky, giving her moments of shade before returning to the sun’s light. The day was absolutely beautiful.

You can always type out more, but that is the basics. Remember, keep this in mind if you are one of those who have a hard trouble of keeping the three sentence rule.
