Emma Gladstone

PostPosted: Sat Jan 16, 2010 1:05 am

Emma Gladstone walked quickly and stealthly through the garden, her blonde ponytail bouncing slightly as she walked. She looked cautiously around before smiling to herself and climbing over the small stone fence, not an easy feat in a dress, especially one as poofy as her's was. She'd never understand why her family insistead on her wearing such ridiculous clothes. So what if their family had money, it's not like they needed to advertise it.

She landed softly on the other side of the fence, managing not to attract any unwanted attention. 'Mission accomplished!' She thought. She was forever sneaking out of her house and wandering around the town. She doubted if her family even knew she was gone. Probably too busy. She sighed and set off down the road, heading more towards town. 'Time to go have some fun hanging out with Audrey', she thought, smiling. Who knows what adventures they'd have today!

The sun began to set, but downtown London was as busy as ever. The average shopkeeper already retired to their house, but those who craved a night life began to roam the streets. The street lights, on but a bit dim, made an aura that lingered in the brisk air. Crowds were still a slight bustle, but voices are loud and cheerful. This time, Audrey loved the most.

She leaned against a brick wall, feeling the dents and crevices pressing against her back, and remained silent. With a grin, she checked her pocket watch, and looked up at her friend.

"Nine in the evening, sharp." she said. "And not a moment late."

"Of course I'm not late." Emma said a bit defensively. "You know I'm only late when someone catches me sneaking out." Emma glanced down at her dress practically glaring at it. Luckily she had started a small collection of clothes at Audrey's house. "Mind if I go change first? I feel like I'm going drown in this sea of fabric." Emma said, still unhappily eyeing her dress. "Oh and I have something to show you!" Emma added happily. "Then we can go out and have some fun!"

"How I love surprises." Audrey replied, dragging Emma with her down the street. She glanced left, then right, not paying attention to what Emma had to say. She found a travelling circus performing by, and slithered her friend into a dressing stand. Shoving Emma behind her, a silhouette forming behind the screen, Audrey scrounged for some clothes for Emma to wear. A loose red top, black short skirt with stockings and elegant boots; it'll work. "Here you go." she said, tossing the clothes over the silhouette, casually watching the bystanders to make sure people weren't watching them.

Emma smiled as she saw the clothes Audrey had tossed her. "Thanks love!" She said, quickly changing into the outfit. She emerged and walked over to a mirror next to the screen. "It looks wonderful! You have a wonderful fashion sense as always, Audrey!" She said, hugging her friend. "Oh look what I got yesterday! Isn't it great?!" She asked, turning around and pulling up her shirt so Audrey could see the black wings, one tattooed on each shoulder blade.

Hearing someone coming Emma grabbed Audrey's arm, dragging her out of the tent. "Best we get going, what't the night life going to be without us, eh?" She led Audrey away from the circus. "Where do you want to go tonight? We could always go to the bar."

Nodding, swinging by for a drink sounded great to Audrey. "Yes, let's go there tonight."

The two entered the smoky building, walking right to their favorite table and seated right next to a window. They were few of the women who attended the tavern that weren't harlots, and were considered regulars amongst the others. The room was full of candle light, laughter, raised drinks and stuffy air.

Audrey loved spending her evenings in that setting, she counted the money in her purse to see if she had enough to gamble. For a second, her counting fingers froze, eyebrows raised, when she heard the faint sound of a fiddle plucking its strings.

Emma watched all the people in the bar, a bit smile on her face. Nothing was more relaxing than people watching in the bar and listening to all the laughter. Emma grabbed the small coin purse she had brought with her and stood up. "I'll get the drinks, love. The usual?" Seeing Audrey was busy counting she shrugged and walked over to the bar and ordered their drinks.

Emma glanced back towards Audrey, frowning as she saw that Audrey had paused in her counting. She glanced around trying to find who or what had made her pause but was interupted when a particularly burly man sat down right in her line of site. "Hey beauty," He said, grinning from ear to ear. "Let me buy you a drink!" Emma frowned. She could smell the alcohol coming off of him. He was most certainly drunk. And he wasn't all the desierable to look at either. "No, I think I've got it. Thanks anyway." Emma said trying to be as polite as possible. She grabbed the drinks, paying the bartender and started heading for the table but was interupted by someone grabbing her arm. "I wasn't asking." The man growled.

"And I'm sure she wasn't accepting either way." a voice called out, making the drunkard pause.

A man stepped forward with a slight rugged look, a smug grin, and a worn fiddle in his hand. He stood in front of the man and Emma, as if he witnessed the whole thing.

"Who the hell are you?" The drunkard scowled. With perfect timing, Audrey approached behind the man, looking somewhat irritated.

"Sherlock Holmes." she said. The man began to swing a punch, pushing Emma aside. Sherlock handed over his fiddle to Audrey.

"Hold this." he said, she took the fiddle and hurried over to help her friend.

One, two, three times the man tried to hit Sherlock, and he dodged every move with ease. Sherlock went for the jaw, clubbed the man's ears, grabbed the shoulders and kneed the stomach. He appeared as if he planned ever move within seconds, and Audrey couldn't help but to be impressed. With Emma's love of adventure, she was surprised that her friend hasn't fainted with excitement.

Groaning, the man fell over, and the rest of the bar members stood up to witness the event.

Emma was nearly shaking with excitement. Emma was a hardcore adrenaline addict and this only fuled her addiction. "He's amazing!" Emma whispered to Audrey, clearly in awe of Holmes' abilities. "The other guy didn't even touch him!" Emma glanced around at the crowd that had gathered. Most were starring in awe, a few nodding their heads in approval. The ocassional whisper was heard, the gossip already starting.

Suddenly there was a ripple in the crowd and a few people moved to the side to reveal a man who had pushed his way through. He was dressed smartly, a long grey jacket covering a grey suit. He surveyed the scene, pausing as he saw the unconcious man on the floor and looked up at Holmes tsking. "I leave for one moment and you get yourself in trouble Holmes! What did you do to provoke him this time?" He asked as he walked towards Holmes, leaning slightly on a walking stick.

"It's nothing but a casual bar sparring." Holmes replied in defense. He gave Audrey a nod in acknowledgement, reached for the fiddle, but Audrey kept it away.

"As I recall, Mr. Holmes, we were scheduled last Tuesday for an interview, and I assume you decided you had more important plans."

Holmes raised an eyebrow, turned to Watson as if it were his fault, and replied, "I had business--"

"On your latest case? The one we were meant to discuss." Audrey interrupted. "I'll keep another date in mind."

Holmes took the fiddle from her hand, noticed Emma's wide gaze, and tipped his hat to her. "Lady." he said, turned to say farewell to Audrey, and hesitated at her glare.

"Come, Watson!" he said, whirring back to his partner. "I'm sure you're finished with your gambling, there is work to be done!" The two left the bar.

Emma sadly watched the two leave. "I bet they have the best adventures." She murmered. Emma glanced around, seeing everyone in the bar staring at them. "Come on Audrey, let's go someplace else. You've got some explaining to do."

As soon as they were outside, walking down the road the questions started. "How do you know Sherlock Holmes, Audrey? What case were you two talking about?"
PostPosted: Sun Apr 04, 2010 12:26 am

Audrey began to feel fidgety, where were her drinks when she needed them?

"Apparently," she explained. "Someone has been stealing art all around London, and Holmes was assigned to follow that case." The two kept wandering the streets, it began to get dark. Turning a corner, and tapping her foot against a pebble, Audrey continued. "The press, we have no information on this thief, just which paintings have gone missing. Holmes is the only key to releasing new information, the rest of the squad knows nothing."

Emma frowned, taking in the information. "I know that case!" Emma said. "My parents have been talking about it lately. They're afraid the thief may try and take some of the paintings from our home." Emma frowned again. "Why would Sherlock Holmes be assigned to a case like this, I heard he only takes the best cases. A few stolen paintings is hardly anything for him to be excited about."

Emma glanced around, realzing they were almost to her house. "You're staying the night, love. We've far too much to talk about tonight."

The door to the apartment on 221 Baker Street swung open with loud creak, and ignoring the irritated nanny waiting at the doorway, Holmes strode inside and up the stairs. Entering his room, and picking up the latest newspaper, Holmes quickly scanned the article about the thief.

LATEST PAINTING--PORTRAIT OF QUEEN-- STOLEN, was the headliner, the painting stolen from London's museum. Taking a mental note, Holmes decided to visit that museum the next morning. Work had to be done.

Watson followed Holmes inside the appartment. But unlike Holmes, Watson remembered his manners and stopped to say a quick hello to Mrs. Hudson before following Holmes into his room. He glanced around, making a tsking sound as he looked around Holmes' room. "Messier than ever I see." Watson muttered.

He moved to look over Holmes' shoulder at the newspaper. "No new developments in the case?" Watson asked. Seeing Holmes shake his head Watson sighed and sat down in one of the chairs. "This case makes absolutely no sense! The theives have hit 3 different museums, only taking one painting from each. They're not the most valuable paintings and they could have gotten away with so many more, so it's not about money. What on earth is going on?" Watson asked, clearly frustrated.
