The Great Pan- Kinetic Exposition is a family friendly event designed to showcase a snapshot of United States history during a time of exciting innovations and fantastic personalities. The year is 1905; Theodore Roosevelt is the President and shares the public scene with the likes of Albert Einstein, Sara Bernhardt, Harriet Tubman, and George Washington Carver. Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla are battling it out in the war of AC vs DC in the race to power America. Harry Houdini is still entertaining the masses with his incredible feats of prestige and illusion. We will have them all under one roof in an incredible event that will draw the interest and patronage of people from every walk of life into an age of incredible new possibilities.
The Great Pan-Kinetic Exposition is an event that brings to life the history, grandeur and fantasy of the turn of the 20th century. The fantasy of H.G.Wells, great personalities like Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison, fabulous entertainments and one of a kind craftspeople embody the spirit of the event! Enticing aromas of American staples such as hot dogs, hamburgers, and apple pie will mix with soda fountains and popcorn stands. Contests for children and adults will share stages with magicians, Vaudeville acts, and electrical wonders.
The public is invited to join over 500 costumed characters and personalities from the USA and around the world in this reproduction of a 1905 event. This is a “total immersion” event where costumed personalities of the past mingle with and greet guests throughout. Audience members are encouraged to dress in the time period of the event, encouraging conversations with the personalities that they might meet.

It is elaborated further in the website, but this is NOT a steampunk event.

Many of the concepts, inspirations, and scientific principles behind “Steampunk” have their roots in the turn of the 20th century. This is when the world stopped viewing scientific endeavors as “magic tricks” (and even sorcery) and began to be viewed as great achievements that could benefit mankind. There are many amazing little facts about the people, inventions, and incidents that shaped the 20th Century.

I think that any steamers in the northern California area would benefit from attending such a faire and getting a glimpse of the actual history that has played a large part in creation of the steampunk genre.
To respect the wishes of the faire's creators, I am in no way wearing any steampunk garb to this event. This was designed as an immersive historical event, and instead I will trying to create an outfit based around the actual time period, and trying to be as historically correct as possible.
