My mother is forcing me to take the H1N1 vaccine tomorrow, and I do not want to take that blasted thing. I beleive that I do not need it. I'm scared, everyone that I know that has gotten ANY type of influenza vaccine has always gotten sick. I have never had the shot I have never had the flu. I think that the vaccine is pure hogwash, they didn't even fully test it and they are giving it to the public? Isn't that like illegal or something? It doesn't even sound the least bit safe...

My mother and I have reached an agreement, I don't have to take the shot but the second I get sick, if I get sick I'm going straight to the ER and I will get treatment. At least I got out of taking that Vial of hogwash.
Now if you want lets discuss the matter of the virus and your views on this vaccine. It will be an interesting chat. =)

I found some links to back me up on this, however some may have graphic pictures so please be aware.

Really? They want us to take a vaccine that does this to unborn babies?
THAT SOUNDS REAL SAFE!

They want us to inject cleaning agents, and random poisonous chemicals in our bodies? Again, really?

How in the world is this safe? Lets start cussing and discussing.

~~ NOTE
Now I am seventeen, and I do not live with my parents, I live with my fiance, we have been together for about a year, I been living with him for about a month. My mom practicly kicked me out due to my sister and her kids moving in, there wasn't enough room for me. She will not listen to me and we tend to butt heads alot.

How old are you? Past 16 I think it is, she can't force you to do anything medically.

If you get the killed strain, you won't get the flu, but allergic reactions are possible, and long term side effects could include auto immune disease and mental disorders. The flu shot is not actually FDA approved, because the vaccine was classed as emergency they didn't thoroughly test it. They have no idea what long term effects it might cause. Links have been made between vaccines and autism in kids. The CDC will only say that more studies are needed.

Talk to your mom about your fears and other ways to protect yourself. Such as taking a vitamin D supplement, gargling with hot water and salt, eating healthy and exercising etc.

That vaccine just sounds plain fishy to me, I'm very leery about it. I cant beleive that they didn't fully test it. I take prenatal vitamins, mainly because they have evreything you need and more, and they make my hair grow =) Plus I drink three cups of green tea with a spoon full of home made honey, for the added antioxidants.
She will not listen to me at all everytime I try to call her she starts yelling at me and telling me that I will take the shot. -_-'

Do you drive? If so, you could always say, "Wow, Mom, I did some research, and you were totally right about the vaccine. I made an appointment to get one next week."

Lying isn't ideal, but hey. I know how parents can sometimes push something that might not really be best for your health, you know?

No I don't have one she is holding all of the paperwork and wont make any time for me to go get it. She doesn't even trust me to take the paperwork by myself, otherwise I would have done something like that.
Funny thing is that shes a nurse and works for our crooked government. She said that there is some sort of speculation about a bad outbreak in March, shes gone plum mad. *face palm* I cant beleive that she's forcing me to take some sort of drug that hasn't been properly tested, and has more cons that pros...

Ah, I see. That is a pickle.

I am wary of the vaccine too. I've just heard of too many untested/not very well tested things being made available to, and even recommended to, the general public. I've heard a lot of horror stories. I was on something a few years ago that the FDA later said wasn't very safe. So I tend to shy away from a lot of newer things or vaccines that I think I can probably do without.

I'm not sure what you can do though besides showing your mom the information or putting your foot down and just saying "no." There are lots of articles that question the safety of the vaccine.

And outbreak or not, most people recover from H1N1 just fine without even needing to go to the hospital. Most of the people who have died or have needed hospitalization were in a "high risk" group (pregnant women, small children, the elderly, and people with other medical issues). Since I am not in any one of those groups, I'm willing to take my chances with the H1N1 rather than the mystery injection. xp

Yes, I am the same way, I tend to just stick to my vitamins and natural remedies. I don't feel safe taking a man made substance, especilly in how its not being properly tested.

Well, getting her not to make you take the vaccine is a small victory. But if you get sick, it will most probably be a cold, or even the regular flu. Here in Canada they are telling people to call their doctors if they posses the symptoms but most people are being told not to go to the ER it is completely swamped because of this fear induced state that the few deaths have caused. I know a lot of people who had the swine flu and are just fine. The last thing you want to do when you are sick, and have a compromised immune system, is to go sit in a room filled with other sick people, who really do have swine flu. If you start to get sick, just stay home and gargle with hot water and salt.

As for the debate over the vaccine. I am so sick of being pushed to take it by my school, the media, the government, half of my friends. I'm not taking it, so just back off! They treat me like I'm this crazy, conspiracy theory believing, retard. Lets see, my chances of contracting swine flu are about 1 in a thousand. Then if I get it, the chances of actually dying from it are another 1 in a thousand I think. I don't know what the exact number are but thousands of people have gotten this, only a dozen or so died, and the majority were immune compromised people. BUT the chances of my future child being autistic are 1 in 150. And the link between vaccines and autism well, needs more studies. Because most studies about vaccines are done by the companies who produce them. There have been cases where people were able to prove that a regular vaccination caused autism in their child. And those are childhood vaccines that have been around for a while and have actually been properly tested and approved.

I just don't think that your immune system is something to be messed around with, the risks of auto immune diseases in over vaccinated dogs are pretty high. The risk of me contracting this flu and acually dying of it is much lower than a lot of people want me to believe. Vs. the risk of developing mental or physical problems as a result of the vaccine which are unknown.

Yeah, third topic on this. How come we seem like the only ones worried about what it can do to you? Everyone irl thinks I'm just crazy for not getting it. The government is doing a great job with their scare tactics and I'm not falling for it. i'm a healthy 20 year old with no other medical problems. I'm not going to die from the flu. Add that to I already had the Swine Flu and -GASP- I'm still alive! OMGZ MIRACLE.

Also, how would your mom have been able to force you if you don't live together? I would have just been like "you kicked me out, and you're still trying to control me? -hangs up-"

My mother said she heard on the news that you are not supposed to go to the ER for H1N1 unless you have other health issues that make the flu especially dangerous for you. She said they said there is nothing they can do about it if you're a regular healthy person and if you get it you just have to wait it out, just like Mono. They also said that by going to the ER, you are taking their time away from people who actually need care and you're putting everyone else at risk of getting it.

So if you get it, do not rush to the emergency room right away. Instead it would probably be better to call them or your doctor first to verify what my mother said she heard, see if they recommend going in, see if there is anything they can do for you if you do go in, etc.

Edit: The guy on the radio just said that the CDC said H1N1 was not an epidemic, the worst of it was over in October, and it was no worse than the regular flu. So some people are now saying the whole thing was a scare tactic to boost drug sales for an unnecessary vaccine.

I think the H1N1 thing is blown way out of proportion. Just because you get H1N1 doesn't mean it'll be serious or life threatening. Here they don't even test for it unless you have the extreme symptoms (chest pains, etc). I apparently had it back in July. I had all the minor symptoms and I just felt the worst I have ever felt with any cold or flu. I went to the doctor and she said I probably had it and told me to stay home from work for a week.

People also think it's sooooooo ******** contagious. My bf was TRYING to get it from me (he wanted a week off of work too). I didn't want him to try, but he would sneak attack kiss me and what not. He didn't get it.

Funny you gave that link, I just read the article about the deformed babies the other day..
The minute I heard about Swine Flu I cracked up and left it at that.
Haven't really heard too much about it since, except bad things about the vaccine.
