The skies of the future are not friendly. Human relations with other races have not been entirely friendly. As such, Battle fleets ply the starlanes, fighting again and again battles that have long been given up as lost by the people caught in the middle. These hardships, though, have given rise to new opportunities. Scavengers, entrepreneurs who use cobbled together spacecraft to pick over the detritus left by these battles. Scavengers can come from any and all backgrounds, rising from poor asteroid miners, out to make a buck, or dispossessed rich, trying to regain what they lost. No matter where they come from or what they are, scavengers are a close,if competitive community.
